I heard a rumour that it had been sold
-
looks like a shedworks tank and seat unit
-
will give that another go tel, already had the continuity meter on it and seemed like a good connection to all other earth points.
-
Ok, i checked cam timing and all looks good tied another coil and standard cdi...and a cdi with no rev limiter...still got the miss at highish revs. Different spark plugs also no different. So looking at what Rollox said, would a slack cam chain cause this symtem, it doen't sound noisy....only other suggestion I've had is that the valve springs are rooted causing valve bounce.
-
Thanks guys, looks like the CDI unit is ok then. Getting a bad miss at highish revs, do the coils go bad?
-
Ok folks,
the timing marks on the flywheel ... 'f' mark lines up at tickover and as revs rise the timing light shows advance which keeps moving untill the 'II' marks and then goes no further. Is this as it should be, the Clymer manual for 200 hondas is a bit vague, saying advance STARTS at the 'II' marks, which sounds all wrong to me.
Cheers.

If it's stainless it shouldn't rot or need plating???????
-
-
thanks mike. the steering is realy good now, but did a trial a couple of weeks back with BIG climbs, and the front is SOOOOoooooo light ya got to get your weight just right......might need to lengthen the swing arm a bit!!!???!!!
-
that's a sweet looking ride.
-
Thanks for that, cutting the frame is no biggie as we work at an engineering outfit, I just didn't think it would be very effective with the standard fork set up....Also hadn't thought about hitting the tank on full lock!!!!!!
-
Hi folks,
my mate has a tl125 and hates the steering due to the fork offset on the trees. So does anyone know of forks from another make or model which would fit straight into the TL frame....and be easyly available....and cheep???
Cheers Trev

sorry dave.....i'll have to change my font. :-)

Hi,
recon your right about cylinder head removal. I used to have a BSA A65 classic race outfit which had the same thing done to 1 of the frame rails to be able to get the motor out. With the bultaco bits and metric allen bolts I would say the mod was done some time in the '70s or later. would guess it's a one off special built by someone who knew what they were doing....should make you a nice bike, keep us up to date with the refurb.
-
Hi Esteve, some well spotted observations on the carb differences, your methodology(is that a real word?) will give the TLR guru's some thing to ponder on and I'm sure there will be many others with the same questions as yourself. Looking forward to some definative answers.
-
Bondy, the black covers look cool.....till you scratch them to death with your boots and stuff, where as the polished ones are easy to keep looking good.
-
BOC,
you hit the nail on the head there...."how many do you see riden at a trial" great bike, made to be riden, F.F.S. get them out of the shed and ride them.
-
The pictures a bit small, but looks like a good starting point for the reno, will be a great way to teach the young fella how bikes work.
-
Wallo,
great you got the clutch sorted......but for the benefit of others in a similar situation, it would be good to here the full story of what fixed it.
-
-
Very nice indeed, you would never guess it started out as a lowly Reflex..
-
-
OK,
If I read the site right, that stuff is "real" fuel.....where as the sh*t we buy at the pump has been cut with more cheep sh*t chemicals to spin out the good stuff. As a comparison, it's like you coke dealer cutting the product with talcom powder!!! As usual, joe public is been taken to the cleaners.
-
Here we go, I took the bike down the river for a play at some sections, got a few pictures before it got all dirty!!!!
It's acctualy metalic green and silver, kinda looks white in the piccies. What's also not obvious ,is the silver on the seat side panels is aluminium stuck on to the fiberglass, thought this might be good as it's where my boots rub. If I was any good at panel beating, I would have made the alloy go around the sticky out bit that goes around the top shock mounts too....but alas I ain't that good.

Every man and his dog has red..white ...and or blue, wanted something different.
