    I thought I had heard everything when it comes to people moaning about what someone else is doing,

    then I read this !

    YES it is good manners to switch off your engine,

    BUT if your that worried about exhaust emissions then maybe you should ride with an Oxygen tank on your back {like a diver}

    the Ramblers , Greenpeace etc. would love to read this thread as it would just give them more ammunition to ban our hobby

    I also see the usual " ban 2 stroke" comments from 4 stroke bike owners ,

    many of  these  4 strokes burn as much oil as a 2 stroke and make 10 times the noise, { which offends me but I don't moan about it }

    Ban noise.

  2. Not at all. Of course it helps, it's just stupid and unnecessary. They may as well add one of those dumb craig jones wheelie school bars so he can't loop out. After that they could look into installing some kind of third wheel so he doesn't need to wheelie at all.

  3. Well it's pretty essential as it stabilisera the front Wheel because of the gyro effect. Btw the northernmost wch point scoring rider (well could be a fin or norwegian up there) lasse holmberg Hudik (wch venue 86 and 93) tried to wheelie round a 4km mx Course with his yam ty but failed as his front Wheel moto gave up. Could be strong ofc. Btw there's a rumour about Toni bou riding down from the top of the ski slopes of rabassa to sån Julia in andorra on the front Wheel if dougie succedes and prolly 2 3 Times to match the distance. He wanted to frontwheely down Mount Everest first but his employee montesa thought is was to risky and expensive...??

    Btw my pad is rubbish translation evert singel word to swenglish ?

    Not really. I can wheelie until my arms or lower back are too sore and have no trouble when the front wheel stops. Just means turning using pegs instead of the bars.

  4.  Because of our stupid all day dab rules, trials has hundreds of new riders that really have no real control other than pulling in the clutch and hitting the brakes while dabbing. You are not riding the bike anymore, that is overuse of the clutch! People do this over and over in every section and think they are riding trials. Of course all the good riders use the clutch 90% of the time. We are talking new riders, they think the clutch is there best friend. When in reality every time they use it, a dab or two is the result. Most never learn throttle control, just panic, pull in the clutch and dab. I could take pictures all day long tomorrow at our event of this happening.

    Convince the club to introduce a time limit, then 5 them? :kerstsmiley:

    Or throw stuff at them  :bouncy:

    I definitely use the clutch to hold the bike back when it starts getting away from me and that's a hangover from enduro for sure.

    Stop that. Don't do it in enduro either. :angry:

    Feather the clutch like that when you need momentum but also big power for an obstacle, or if the front starts to come up on a group start <_< Neither are relevant right now, I think  :frosty:

    My issue is that I tend to unconsciously just hold the throttle about 1/2 and modulate the power using the clutch. I tend to do this even when traction is good. Like my right hand just goes from closed to open and nothing in between. Then the bike either bogs from too little throttle or takes off - either way I end up slipping the clutch to control it.

    I guess it's just practice but any more structured drills?

    One expert rider did tell me to get off the clutch once and that did make me ride much more smoothly.

    Sounds like throttle and clutch control both need work. :(

    Take the clutch lever off so you can't use it. 1st is low enough that you can push off a bit and click it without stalling. :marky:

    Ride in wet clay if you can. If not, wet grass. You can pump the tyre way up too. :hyper:

    Practice slowing down to idle and rolling on (hard) from there :banana:

    If you lose traction doing something don't chop the throttle, roll off a bit. Chop = lost momentum and more likely to open hard and mess everything up completely :stupid:

    Climb hills if Somerset has any. Throttle control = momentum = summit :ph34r:

    Ride around in circles and stuff with one hand. Throttle control + body position.  :o

    Learn slow wheelies  :wub: (after more better clutch skills  :shutup: )

    Braaap :thumbup:

    I'm not really sold on the idea that there is such a thing as overuse of the clutch on a modern bike.

    I don't believe there is, unless it's used wrong :madnoel:

     Well we have people that have been riding 3 or more years, all under the modern rules. They still seem to look for a spot to pull the clutch in and just stop, not just ride all the way through. Or they will try to balance while using the clutch for no real reason. If they would of never stopped, would have easily cleaned the section.  Just mind boggling that this goes on month after month. From my very first event, the clean was the only score I wanted. These riders insist  a three is the safest bet. But I`m glad they ride as we need the scorers!

    Clean or crash :icon_salut:

  5. Yay! afer all these years riding, its confirmed then! woo hoo! So people who simply wax poetic about the trial and spectate numerous times are just posers? :rotfl:

    Location: Canada. You have no idea how important the SSDT is. Only those in north UK know how much it means to everyone around the world.

  6. Jepp strong from Bou and nice one from Caby (saw his first podium back in Germany 99 and first win up in Italian alps 00 so he has become one of my favourites with his soft riding style (also seems to be a nice guy always having time for his fans)). Looking at the section scores the trial could have gone either way for the top 6. Seems lika a 0 or 5 trials with only Dibsta 5ing a section 3 times. Gelabert in 14th had a lap of 5 so also theoretically had the potential to win. Wonder if it was strict nonstop observing or just small margins in the sections.

    Any videos around? /TJ

  7. Do Vertigo employ a comedian to come up with these names?

    Even if i was competant enough to justify buying one of these lovely looking bikes i am not sure i could admit to owning an Ice hell, combat is bad enough.

    Wonder what the next models could be;

    Neolithic warrior

    Throbbing chopper

    I wouldn't be surprised if they are working on adapting the fuel injection to run on testosterone.

    Don't forget the 'Vandal'.
