  1. The ACU also now have a simplified form to use for rifers only wishing to get the trials affiliation rather than a full licence. As the club membership sec, the new form certainly saves me a lot of unnecessary printing too! Anyone reading this who competes inthe Midlands Centre, all club trials are 'open to centre' which means that you only need to join one club to ride in any event in the centre.
  2. I didn't get a go on the 250, but the 290 switched to 'soft power' really suited my limited ability. It felt smooth and progressive not unlike my Scorpa in the bottom end but with the capability to simply flatten the biggest climbs. I wasn't expecting the 'big' evo to be so easy to ride. Very impressed indeed!
  3. Had one petrol station employee who wouldn't turn on the pump to let me fill up my road legal enduro bike because it was on a trailer! They genuinely wanted me to take the bike off the trailer to fill it up! On the plastice v's metal can discussion. We stopped using metal cans years ago after we sufferd a number of dnf's due to rust in the carbs.
  4. Thanks to BVM and all the trials importers for putting on another excellent test day. This year the location was Nettleton Quarry near Birdlip and the course had been set out by Steve Saunders. Early on the ground was rock hard frozen but as the sun burnt through the clouds, the conditions turned a lot slippier offering a perfect set of conditions to try out al of the lastest machines. During the lunch break some of the sponsored riders put on a bit of a show, including a sidecar team who were getting up a step that I wouldn't even look at on my solo machine. Here's a couple of snaps (sorry for the poor quality) I'm sure there will be some better ones later on. Alexz Wigg making the 'no run up' step look easy! My daughter Jessica with her Hero... Becky Cook.
  5. A tube in a tubless tyre is fine, the tyre won't slip around and the tube will be ok. But if you ever get offered a tube tyre don't try to fit it on a tubless rim. That will slip round.

  7. My '05 moves in a similar way.
  8. Not trials but road racing. Honda RC30 at the TT suffered oil starvation in the Senior race due to a fracture in an oil pipe inside the sump. A new crank was
  9. carefully drill it out to 5mm then use a 6mm tap (use some light oil on the tap when you are cutting the thread). Be careful to clean out any swarf which drops into the air box.
  10. It took me a while to realise that I was awlays dabbng to the inside of a turn becasue I was putting too much weight on the inside peg. Slow throttle is good advice.
  11. Your fortunate in being so close to Earl Shilton. Excellent place to practice!
  12. Wrightys show at Telford is on 24th and 25th January. He tells me that the stalls and exhibits previously seen at Malvern will all now be at Telford.

Never mind the fuel. Fingers crossed for the Stator!
  14. I admire anyone with the courage to observe at a World round. Especially if they do it year after year! The pressure to give the right score (or even the wrong score) must be huge!
  15. I've got a pair of white Novogars and I don't think think they're poofy! Although this comes from one who thinks pink racing leathers looked cool back inthe '90's
  16. It's the same engine as the Yamaha TTR125 kiddies mx bike and also the SR125 custom style road bike. I'd bet that ridden onthe road with taller gearing, it would be good for 20,000 miles at least. Now that's not the same as 800 miles of trials riding, but they really are built to last.
  17. Thanks for the write up Sam.
  18. Couple of years back I had a set of HD black rims and stainless steel spokes fitted which cost
  19. Central Wheel Components at Coleshill. They supply rims, wheels, tyres, wheel rebuilding etc etc. I've used them myself many times. Click HER
  20. I'm also a welder by trade and I definately would unplug the cdi on my bike if I was electric welding it. You might be saving 15 mins work, or you might save
  21. Assuming that you are electric arc welding of some kind and not Oxy- Acet welding, as Stork955 says - plus make sure that the earth clamp is attached close to the weld and that it is earthed onto a clean piece of metal. Be careful not to set fire to anything too!
  22. I like it. I'll see if I can get a team of eight together for us, although we've struggled to get a team of six together for the group trials this year.
  23. Why not simply remove the light and keep it safe until you either need to ride at night or until you sell the bike? In the meantime, get a front number plate holder which is attahced with cable ties and keep your front numbers nice and clean and dry.
  24. I could bring along my old set of pink acid worm leathers for you to borrow. You'd look the business in them (if a bit baggy on you) when you climb to the top of the rostrum!
