Just wondered how many people on here fitted a speedo to their bike for the SSDT. I am debating whether to bothor or not. This will be my second year riding Scotland and last year I had a speedo and horn. However the scruitineer's never even checked them etc. I know its the law to have a horn and speedo but I cant really rememer seeing many bikes with the correct items. I did a whole day with no rear mudguard and no number plate and the old bill didnt seem to worry as I parked my bike up next to them.
I ride a Beta and fitted the standard speedo last year which I think lasted about an hour before it broke. This is probably my fault due to me crashing and falling off reguarly lol. I am currently trying to fit a push bike speedo which may even last for a whole day with me riding.
See you next week

Cheers Mark, I have phoned the secretary but he has not seen or heard of it. He said he will email round the club to see if anyone has it. Looks like I will be phoning lawrence for a new pair if I dont hear anything by Fri.
How did you get on then Mark? I rode pretty poor but did enjoy it, However some of the climbs were a bit too big for me.

Its probably a long shot, but did anyone happen to pick up a carbon (black) fork protector laying around. I have no idea where abouts I lost it but Im gutted I as I forgot to put a cable tie round them before the trial. I noticed it was missing at Dove dale 2 which means it could be anytwhere from section 1 - 34ish lol. I did have a big crash at Dovedale 1 on the last section in the group, so it may have dropped off there.

I brought a brand new Sherco and after 10 minutes riding it would not run due to a piece of plastic holding the carb slide open. After a few other faults I decided to get rid of it and buy a Beta. After the SSDT and the Scott its still fine and has never let me down.
-
I assume you are all talking about 2 Strokes. My 07 250 2T came with BP6ES. I have always been given these from BVM when I have brought new plugs from them and my bike has always ran fine. However I have noticed that the bike does need to be cleared out a lot after lots of use during a trial. I got a plug of Lampkns and they sent me BP5ES. I thought this was a mistake, but obviously not after reading the posts above. I think Il see what difference this makes.

Im a member. I rode the SSDT as a service rider. However I was not in the actual CSMA team. I think entering as a CSMA rider may have helped me get an entry. Neil Bowker, Geoff Herbert, Graham Hutcheson and Mark and Craig Talbot are also CSMA riders who entered the Scottosh this year.
I dont think the CSMA SSDT team got any financial support. However they were guartanteed an entry etc.

Regs went in the post last night. Definitly the best one day national I have ridden so far. There are a few killer sections for the top boys but I still managed to bang and crash my way through them lol
-
wetfeet - no idea what you mean by all those little men bobbing up and down lol. U riding the Scott then?
It should be fun until I cant hold on any more lol. I think il hold off putting on a new set of plastics as I get a feeling my bike may get some abuse.

I used to ride with two fingers using the clutch. I rode like this for around 10 years until I realised that an extra figer pulling on the bars helped my trick riding and overall control. However due to never using a one finger clutch technique it took me a few months to adjust. The main problem was getting the single finger strong enough to operate the clutch. I often ended up with finger muscle cramp half way through a section and had to go back to two fingers lol.
However after a year of one finger madeness I cant physically ride using two fingers as I cant control the bike as well. I feel that my riding has also improved.
So If I were you I would have a go at improving your rear brake technique etc.

Ps I have just read this mesaage and it does sound a little wierd/dodgy in places lol.

Just put my regs in the post. I doubt I will get to the finish but I have to give it a go. Anybody else riding the event?
Iv rejoined my local gym after not going during the Summer due to practicing, so hopefully I can get a bit fitter before hand.
I guess the event will be a little like Scotland - (Horrible moors with twice as many sections and no time to rest lol)

Haslam, Wigg, Brown and Sampson are the four up and coming names that I can think of. It should make the evening even better with more new british riders to scream at for 4 hours lol.

Does anyone have any more info on this item found on the Gas Gas shop website www.gasgasuk.com

I have dented my exhaust on my Beta Rev3 close to the engine after having an argument with a skip. I was wondering if anyone knew of a tool which can be used to remove the dent. I have been told that you can get a tool which seals both ends so that you can fill the exhaust with compressed air. You can then heat the dented area to remove it etc.
Any advice would be good?

Was wondering which Brits would be riding Sunday, other than the usual regualr competitors. Hawkstone website does not say much.

Iv been using the Repsol 2T gearbox oil with no problems. But every person I speak to says something different.
-
At last someone with the same problem. I like my bikes running right but out of interest how long have you been putting up with the rattle, and whats wrong with your clutch? Is it the clutch plates wearing out?
Im getting my new cog tomorrow so should be ready for some well earned practice at the weekend. Iv not ridden for three weeks after a boys p*** up holiday in Kavos .
Also with regards to the fan shaped cog, is the last tooth on the end half the height of the rest? I just want to make sure this is the case before I put the bike back together. When I say half the size I mean that the peak of the tooth is missing.
This is the first tooth which engages with the cog.
Hope this makes some sense to somebody
Tony Moulder - Normally found in a big pile on the floor after stacking big style lol
-
No trust me this is a whole different sound. When you look at the cog the pitch of the teeth are snapped etc. BVM say they have had a lot of 05 bikes break. The metal is not hard enough and it does it when you mess the start up and it backfires on ya etc.
Either way i must be the only one on this forum lol
The sound goes up with the engine revs due to the clutch spinning with the engine etc.
-
anyone????
The bloke in BVM who sold it to me said he had changes it 5 times on his bike.
-
Has anyone else had to replace the cog between the kickstart and the clutch basket. When the problem occurs it sounds like the bottom end has gone. I have changed my second cog now on my 05 280 Pro!!!!!!
?
