Hi dado, thanks for sharing this.

Hi, My first thoughts/considerations are power delivery, weight, gear ratios. Without any changes to these I think you might end up with what you have now in a different frame.

I'd be fitting a disc protector, rules or not, cheaper than a new disc or try to get the scars out of the old one.
Enjoy the ride anyway. Cheers Taff.

Hi Dannyb, I think the rule of thumb is a 3rd of the overall shock travel, with rider and gear on the bike. That's how I set up my TRP shock.

HI Stew, I downloaded the "Sherco Ignition Timing Guide" I think from the Ryan Young site. Google is a great tool for the tool box. I have heaps of info related to my bike on a USB stick so I can take it down the shed it I want too.

Hi totty, [its strange how few people use a name on this forum???] , anyway, I had the trigger finger after I started riding my "07 125/200, down from a 250 Techno. This was in my right hand though. This bike was set up with flat slide carby and pulled like the powers. For the bike I re-jetted the carby and retarded the ignition, now its a joy to ride. For the finger....the GP prescribed drugs, [packets and packets of them in the first script] i did not use them but found more natural remedies on line, and I also wore a Velcro wrist support [whilst riding] for many months. Now no more tendon problems.Good luck.

There is a process to follow. I think you'll find different bikes/carbies require their specific setting, some one else could possibly explain better than I

Hi and welcome to trials. I had a situation with my Sherco 07 in that it had too much get up and go, so over a period I slowly retarded the ignition to a point were I was happy. The bike was also raspy and noisy so I cleaned out the exhaust and repacked the muffler and bugger me the bike improved in performance so much I had to retard the ignition a tad more. So there might be your answer. Next question is... ?

Mine is too stretchy now also now that its got old. I'm gonna have to buy a new lanyard bit without the switch. Maybe it can be shortened by tying some knots in it.

This happened to my Harley whilst riding across the Nullabore Plain in Western Australia, it was only the rear muffler not the pipes. I checked this out with the Harley Davidson tech's at the rally I was heading for, and was informed that due to the constant riding in a westerly direction and the wind coming off the sea from the south [the pipes are on the other side of the bike] and the fact that the front muffler exits gasses past the rear muffler it got very very hot and turned gold.
I can buff it out but gold is good.

I look for what has been mentioned above but also at the general tidiness of the bike, as a guide to the owners care for maintenance and upkeep. If I see levers bent into "S" bends, foot pegs smashed to half their width and angled back or down, leaking forks or hooked teeth sprockets, I get worried about the things I can't see.
I bought my last bike from a photo from a guy 2500km away so was worried and haggled a good price. When I uncrated it I saw a leaking fork seal and flat tyre, this rang alarm bells, so I went through the bike with a major service, I'm glad I did. the money I haggled off the price brought the bike up to spec and has run great for 2 years.

Hi Malcolm, yep had / still have that same noise in 2008 125/200.Changed top end, changed main bearings two years ago, still running strong with that noise still there. More annoying to me is the whine from the transmission in the lower gears.I recently watched a video of a trial I competed in and I could pick my bike idling off camera. Sounds worrying but must be something we have to put up with.
Happy New Year

I'm with jfc re that, after six month or so my elastic has stretched and looks a bit threadbare. But you can buy replacement lanyards.

Hi ?
Also think about a better fitting glove, one that does not bunch up in the palm as you close the fist. And as said above [gripping too tight] a better standing/bars position may take the pressure off the hands. I did this due to pain in the shoulders and I don't suffer any more. Even fitted bar risers.

I thought that the guy in the photo waiting to catch the chain when it broke should be wearing safety glasses.

I'm confused by the answers??? Any way have a good Xmas and new year everyone.

I wonder what the daytime temperature is in the SSDT, Can't see them bikes overheating in a hurry. Merry Christmas all. Taff

Since I started mixing 80.1 using premium unleaded and expert oils in my Sherco, I found it easier to use the same mix in the ride on lawnmower, the push lawnmower and my chainsaw. All have worked well for years. I don't like the idea of using 50:1 with a muffler that cant be repacked......think Sherco.
I made my muffler repackable but will still stick to 80:1 whilst using good fuel and oils. Riding in 35deg heat is a good test, been doing it for a couple of years now, so when it comes to refreshing the top end [soon] I'll see the how things have gone.

I do as Sherco 34 does, and to check the level I have a piece small hose with a mark scratched on it that I stop at the filler neck and when withdrawn the fluid level shows somewhere under that mark showing how low the fluid is.

Try this....Google "changing Sherco fork seals" lots of info comes up.
Good luck Taff

Hi Charlie,I find that I ride my 125/200 in second gear for most everything, might be a gearing or set up thing.
