  1. Hi, I purchase a 2013 evo250 fact, to my surprise the carburetor air screw does not have the flex remote line that my evo 2009 did have. Now with out this flex line it is almost impossible to adjust the air screw without removing the muffler. Were can I purchase the air screw flex line ? I look at part number and they are all the same from 2009 to 2013.

    steven

You could also make your own with a short piece of old speedo cable and silver solder

  2. Haha. As for the shorts, im a game ranger and try to practice for a hour every day in my lunch break. Im saving my pretty beta gear for events.

Seriously, can my drums be too slippery making it dificult for me to get this technique right? There are some rocks for me to try it on but ill have to get a armed buddy to watch my back if I ride in the bush here, lots of eles and lion around at the moment.

Supose I could make a rifle scabbard to fit on my beta and wear my 44mag, but it might be a bit restricting and heavy :)

LOL, we get the odd black bear, lots of deer and a moose or two

Minders don't have to carry a large caliber rifle to guard you from the wildlife, that's kind of interesting for sure but I'm glad I don't have to watch for Elephants in a section

  3. Sag is not applicable as its to allow the wheel to drop into a hole at speed and not affect the chassis, we don't have this speed thing

Springs are suited max of 180lb rider stock and probably need to be changed for heavier guys and its all feel

Ryan Young teaches that you set up the front and rear independently

Having said that, it's tough to get setup advice as its completely subjective, some like lively and some don't, you want the back to have some bounce, not completely damped like MX

But not too much so it kicks of obstacles

  4. Ya my 07 was a bit fuel fussy, I ran some ring free through it to decarbon and it was much much better

But if its rattling at idle then is piston skirt wear or shrinkage from overheat

And I have heard of crank bearings going on them but I would think that would produce a growl and deep knock from down low in the motor

  5. How bad could it be?

The old chassis is not a easy to ride as an Evo is so its not a current model and wont feel like it

But if its clean and well taken care of and the price is right then get it, if it turns out to not suit your riding style then punt it and find what works better for you

It may be your first trials bike but like all of us, it won't be your last

  6. Well they are m 7 special bolts (shouldered) and appear the same on all model sizes. Guess I'm going to blame my torque wench ,but its odd as its a decent one.

    Borrow another torque wrench

    Torque a nut or bolt

Felt pen the socket and the work

    Loosen

Use the other torque wrench and torque to same value and see if the felt pen marks line up

We use this to check cylinder head torque etc, works well

If the marks don't line up then the 2 wrenches are different

  7. You may be doing that, have someone watch you or better yet video you so you can watch yourself

My riding buddy did that last fall and it really helps to see yourself and the movements you make

I practice wheelies into, over and onto everything I can

Small logs and rocks are great practice just to help with timing, when you get to bigger ones its one less thing to concentrate on

  8. I presume that system is designed for an automatic transmission scooter

Full throttle in neutral?, full throttle on a stand in 6th gear?

Full throttle in 6th gear on a road with load will give you a different plug color

I would not rely on jetting a manual transmission bike with no load like that

  9. That's a different problem

ken says his pilot is too rich, you made your transition circuit richer

My 010 feels lean on the pilot, my Rev was the same

The air screw really only cleans up idle and just a hair open throttle, after that there is almost no effect

Pilot is partial throttle to about 1/3 after that it flows constantly so it can slightly richen all circuits but minimal effect

Then needle and then main above 3/4

  10. No no no

Your minder measures it all up and stands there with one of those pointers that teachers use

On stuff like this size I sometimes just do what they call a roll up in bicycle terms

You pretty much just hit it with the front wheel at the 3/4 point, it pops the front end high and the back just kicks up and on top

Doesn't work on undercut stuff very well but on low logs etc its good

  11. Hey that's cool that it's a cheep fix and only 1.5mm

Makes me think, if you were very careful installing the flywheel I bet there is 1.5mm of radial play in the flywheel that far from center

Maybe it was all the way fwd on the key and timing could have been out that much from new

To do it again maybe a guy could load the flywheel all the way back with a flywheel holder as you are sliding it up the taper and torque it down

  12. "I myself keep thinking I will find an oil that lets my bike shift

For the love of god why can't a 2010 model motorcycle find neutral just once with the engine running!!"

Jeff, A wee tip, on trials bike you find neutral with your heel.

You change gears with your foot and shift into neutral with your heel.

Strange I know but that is a technique that I find works for me and some other people.

Thanks, Ya I will give that a try, I also need to measure the shim in the clutch, it's a small amount of drag that causes it

It shifts by rev matching with no clutch rather well, but I am very hesitant to up shift in a section

If I load the shifter and hit the kill switch it will shift as soon as the engine stops

Clutch action after removing the glue is very good, some oils are better than others, the oil I had in there last tended to foam, a little comes out the breather, so I'm giving Bel ray a shot

Then some Motorex then the heck with it, TMDT at that point

"I have spent many years explaining how technical stuff works"

As most of us have on this forum. In fact there are many guys on here who do it rather well and have done so for many, many years! :wall:

Some of us even do it for a living!

Billy, never tried to pick a fight

If I said pistons spin round and round one would expect another to explain that they go up and down

Yes some of us do it for a living, motorcycle mechanical diagnosis and technical training is what I have done for 28 of the 33 years I have worked in the industry

    Cheers to you

  14. FFS had valve ripped off last time was out fitted new tube but couldn't get it to seat so put strap round it and went like crazy with the pump so much so that the bead came off the rim and boom now have no tube. what tube would people recommend for rear std or hd or uhd

I think you have a problem there

Tires are not supposed to come off the bead when filling with air, might explain why it spun on the rim and tore your valve stem off

  15. I myself keep thinking I will find an oil that lets my bike shift

For the love of god why can't a 2010 model motorcycle find neutral just once with the engine running!!

(Ya the 2012 and up Beta's shift well)

Seems like every other bike other than trials bikes can do it

It certainly is linked to the clutch as once the engine is off it shifts quite nicely

So, I think if clutches were perfect and all bikes shifted smoothly no one would ask what oil is best

Let you know what Bel Ray does for me LOL
