  1. I think the outlet goes to the tank vent and as fuel leaves the main tank it inhales the fuel from the aux tank and it empties first If the size is wrong I have had success putting one hose over another, kind of an adapter, do it at the tank end so you just run the full length of smaller hose to the fuel cap

    Evo Clutch

LOL, maybe he meant Baaaad, not Bad Thumper the machine you refer to is not required Springs lose free length with age and use, they never lose rate Loss of free length means loss of preload which can cause slippage as there is simply less pressure on the pressure plate, simple So a micrometer is all a good mechanic needs, or a Baaaad mechanic
  3. The bleeder is at the bottom and most people bleed the air out of a brake there (can I get a witness ) The only other way to get air out of the banjo and brake hose is to push the pistons back in It returns the fluid to the master and often the air that is at the top of the hose
  4. Wait, bleed the master before you attach the brake hose Put your finger over the banjo bolt hole and bleed up the master first, the less air the better After connecting the banjo, gently squeeze the lever as you loosen the banjo and burp the air there a few times After that you may not even need to push air all the way downhill through the caliper Trying to push a master cylinder full of air all the way down through the hose is a big pain in the butt
  5. I am 6.0 ft, I raised my bars on my Rev but it's not good in steep terrain I left my Evo alone and adjusted to the bike rather than adjust the bike to me It's better anytime I'm ascending anything

    Evo Clutch

Depends on the cause of the failure If you have overheated the clutch the springs may have lost their preload You need to measure the free length of the springs, it's quick and easy And it might save you from cooking another set of plates
  7. Or is it more like "Hey Luigi, where the hell did my cool factory race forks go?, they were here on the bench with all the standard forks a minute ago"
  8. Huh...I still don't get what the bolt does
  9. There is something about trials huh, how else can you explain having a good day after you Ride like a dork Fall off repeatedly Come in last place This cannot happen in any other sport can it? My first trial in section one I did an endo off a log about as tall as a basketball, a woman yelled "Oh my god" Second trial I stalled my bike on a straight 10 degree incline.....on section one But I had a great time, what is it?
  10. There's nothing there to affect the return of the kick start, it's internal Can you post a pic or two?

    I Like This!

What vintage would these be? I like it too
  12. Doesn't look like mine that's for sure
  13. Sometimes the o ring streaches when you pulle cover Will it lay in the groove or does it seem too long High Tac spay works great for o rings
  14. I think in the past electronics were hard to seal but it's not so hard to get around nowadays Electric sump pumps live underwater, you can buy R.C. Trucks that will operate underwater, watches, cameras and phones can be waterproof, boats have 12v electric drives built into the Hull to maneuver at the dock, they are permanently under water, even salt water Snowmobiles and watercraft exist in a steamy environment long term with mo ill effects, they have fly by wire throttle and TPS etc etc I have always advocated fewer parts means less problems, integrated drive and brake be it electric or mechanical would be the breakthrough How about a hybrid, we put a small displacement extremely light engine running a generator and charging a large capacitor, integrate the drive with the wheel and include a magnetic brake that returns energy to the system Then we introduce a 2 wheel drive class cuz now all we need to do is install a drive in the front hub and plug it in Dadof2 will head up engine development, Osiris can work with the software and we have a plethora of test riders on here Let's go
  15. My riding buddy / coach tells me to stay away from the rear brake and feather the front I didn't like it because even small application of the front brake would upset the chassis by pitching it forward I came to realize the springs were too soft for my weight, I resprung the bike and lo and behold, he was right Maybe the same would work for you
  16. I worked for a manufacturer for many years, when they enter an agreement with an oil manufacturer and put their own name on the bottle it is usually a blend specific to the recommendation of the engine designers And in the situations I was part of the oils were not available any other way regardless of who made the oil. Lubricants are like bikes, they are proprietary, specific to purpose and unique After working in the motorcycle and snowmobile industry in various positions for 30 + years I can say that I have never seen oil "Fail", seen a lot of lack of oil problems but even medium grade lubricants do their job as good as anything, it's only really extreme conditions where high tech oils outperform regular lubes In 2 strokes, "Enough" gives the required protection, too little is when bad things happen (unfortunately Enough is subjective) and too much has absolutely no benefit, in 4 strokes clean oil is better than old dirty expensive synthetic Always a good source of conversation though huh, now let's talk about religion
  17. So you want to be an IT guy on E Bikes You might still be bored LOL
  18. Ok, that's the coolest video of 2014 so far
  19. How about the fuel tank breather?
  20. I truly think the e bike is coming, it's just a matter of time but .... Many of us just love the smell, the sound, the character of a gas engine Engines stir the soul in a way an electric motor cannot, I think some people would quit riding if they had to use e bikes Certainly a generational thing, maybe 10 years from now there will be a kid who has never ridden a gas engine bike and thinks they are for old people, the problem is the battery, not the electric motor and it will change one day when a battery break through happens I remember a saying about radical new ideas "if at first it does not sound absurd, there is no hope"
  21. I'm a real fan of handmade I made knives as a hobby for a while so I can appreciate the work that goes into everything Holding your breath to keep the grind line straight is difficult stuff and hollow grind is even harder Do you know what kind of steel it is? I prefer carbon to stainless for edge but there is some pretty high tech stainless now, ATS34 was the blade of choice back a few years
  22. Copemech that is probably an EPA rating, most stuff is required (even generators) to be some kind of compliant for a reasonable period of time
  23. Take it one step further and I'm with you, a hydraulic drive / brake all in one Or a shaft drive and brake all in one Get rid of all the unsprung weight on the wheel, the sprocket and chain and everything You still have lash and chatter issues but there's a big change to the mechanism on the back of the bike
  24. I was gonna say I like the knife holder too Is a Randall handmade or factory?
