Very nice!
Glass and seat repair superb!

Mike, Think maybe Velcro.

I guess you are referring to the drive side, unless the new seals are in wrong ( spring not in to crank 1 seal/1 out to primary,
O ring not in place), the sleeve floats until drive is tight.
Hope you can borrow a carb to try,not saying buy.
Good luck

Mike, Not familiar with a Campera, (might have rubber also).
Just not a good way, might try to work around the stuck thing.
If you are determined, jack the frame open enough to cut thru.
If it will operate at all; might leave it be.
Sorry for the lack of help.

Please don't tear into things before trying a different carb.
PS it doesn't have to be a Bing.

To all,
My stupid mistake @ seeing right hand brake and missing the obvious rear frame loop.
I stand corrected!
I will probably make other mistakes.
Sorry bout that.

It makes no sense for the plug to be wet, as it seems we run out of gas without choke.
Check your PMs.

Woody
Thanks for the reply and glad it is sorted.
Good luck for the trial.

Does sound like fuel, the symptons you describe if it were a Mikuni; clogged pilot or passages I am no
authority on square Amals. Hopefully you can get a spare to try, and eliminate your carb.
Do not go buying things.
Later on

Hi Dave
Good to hear from you again, now I know what a 248 is should I run across another.
Great looking rig. Glad all could help.

Trum
I amend my first guess on what model, at least part
198/199 by the RH brake. Good 159 air box ect.
Now enjoy.

Dazzle, Replace the spokes & tighten enough to true the wheel (don't have to be perfect) IMHO.
A little lube wont hurt, not a tough job. Never thought about torque, I am sure someone knows.
Have a good day
Larry
-
Woody, Please let us know what the answer is as I for one had this on my
mind and woke up early to check on you.
Larry
-
Woody, If the chain lines up; few things left to do as you
will have a hard time making up 10mm.
By your description the tire must be very close to rubbing & certainly
not pleasing to your eye.
The only answer to me is to compensate the off set, I realize that is
probably not what you want to hear, but this is long distance & you
will probably find the elephant in the room as you stare.
Good Luck
Larry
-
Woody, With the thing 10mm off I take it the chain also wont line up.
You may well have to machine the brake plate, as you say it is a slight
miss match of parts. I know someone will know the original spacer length.
Just making conversation. I have faith you will figure it out.

Bondy, Nice pictures, we don't see hardly any B models around here let alone
198B don't think they were imported to the states.
I guess the thing interesting is the apparent difference?
Did the 198 s have a 64mm stroke?
Help

Trum, Fine looking girl, 159 perhaps?
Mikuni good choice, if it suits you @ 1 1/2 turns it sounds great.
Have a nice day

In all fairness to the engineering of the Sherpa t Mod 199 (1978) & on rear slowing device.
Over here I believe it was not politically correct to import any without right hand brake.
The bikes came with the mounting stud & thru shift shaft, so hence whatever turns you on.
Have a nice day

When sorting such problems find it handy to add an automotive condenser under the tank.
Sometimes a fix.
Cheap insurance.
Larry
-
Woody, If you cant make it work, join the club.
The only good answer is a later Alp/Pursang rear, and they
are much in demand here.
Guess someone knows.
Regards
Larry

John, You will find it OK, it is only mind over matter anyway.
There is no way cable rears ever did work ref. my first Lobito Mod 19 or 20
whatever it was.
Have a good day
Larry

Henry, find it useful to hold my thumb over tickle bleed hole to give fuel to
engine rather than all over the cases.
Larry

Lithium grease on assembly, then the oil tubes are there so why not use them.
Hopefully you will never be in there again.
Larry

simonro1, Nice looking adaptation for silencer.
Maybe to late to ask, but what rear wheel/hub are you running?
Looks like a great job and cures the rear brake on the right problem;
no more cable compression/leverage trouble.
Thanks
Larry
-
John, If you find a way to have a decent rear brake on the right side; Please advise.
Have a good day
Larry
PS just saw the nice answer to above, see post on WES system this forum.
