  1. Tap, tap, tap.............tappity, tap
  2. Sherco made a very good 4t, gas gas made a not so good 4t.(we'll never know how good or bad it was?) and now gas gas and ossa are virtually joined at the hip and have bought 4t tech off Husqvarna who were owned by BMW, you never know. Beta make a very good 4t, but due to the very light bikes, the 2t's rule, but maybe in the future, we might see some new 4t's in the WTC with the new rules.
  3. The RCV has the mess purely to stop the kitty litter going into the exhaust when Ped and Marky boy bin it, there not that bothered about the volume of the screaming V4 (there not silenced).
  4. The reason you have riders riding the easy route and getting very low scores, is because most are riding for the the enjoyment and not the competitive element. I and a few of my friends are definitely in that group, we are all in our late forties or early fifties, take a long time to recover and don't want to injure ourselves (work next day etc etc). We all love riding when we can, help our clubs and observe too, but riding is still very important and we enjoy the social thing of riding together, the Micky taking and the pub after. Not everyone is very competitive, want to get better and win (although sometimes that does happen). I have asked a few clubs if there could be a 50/50 route for novice/clubman (no extra marking out, just half the hardest novice route and half the easiest middle route), but they weren't interested. I have even asked to ride at an event and not be scored in the results and told I couldn't do that. I think the only way would be to not ride one section and then you wouldn't be classed as finishing.

    Ninth Digit

Are you sure you mean the ninth, as the eighth is C and the ninth is an x on mine in the uk and the UK bikes are definitely different to any other country concerning homologation (no road kit). Yours was an import wasn't it?
  7. Really nice to read your post, the EVO is a great bike once setup and I can understand your worries, selling a bike your really happy with and taking a risk with something new. There seem to be quite a few Beta 2T/4T owners buying the new 260, I'm not sure why, as most I have spoken to, love Beta's, but they all also really like the new 260. Its great to read new Montesa riders giving their opinion, rather than it coming from the converted (me and others) who are a tad biased with our opinions :0) P.s. The side stand is rubbish, mind your fingers ;0)
  8. Dunlop's are very popular in japan, so they can't be that bad, they obviously have a run in period, before they work there best. This guy does alright on them...
  9. Buy some michelins and put the dunlops back on when you sell it. Great to hear your enjoying your new bike, a mate has just picked up a new 260 and loves it.
  10. He had that at the last iwtc, think it looks better with the standard tank, but I would imagine riding with the standard tank was for marketing purposes for the new bike only.
  11. Do you happen to know the brand name of these cameras please
  12. Standard bike is £1100 cheaper than the Race Rep. Race Rep has Showa forks and Rear Shock, DID wheels, S3 Hardrock alloy footrest, Renthal handlebars and bar pad, domino grips, Repsol headlight, carbon clutch cover, carbon silencer cover, carbon header cover, carbon fork brace and carbon fork guards. You also get the S3 steel foot rests and plastic silencer cover.
  13. From Hondas web site, [ Trial ] FIM Trial World Championship Series Honda competed in the FIM Trial World Championship Series (WCT) through the end of last season by fielding the Repsol Montesa Honda team from Montesa Honda S.A., Honda’s local affiliate in Spain. Starting this season, the Repsol Honda Team will now compete as the Honda factory team, consisting of Toni Bou, the reigning for the seventh year running, and Takahisa Fujinami who placed fifth last season. Competing on the COTA 4RT equipped with 4-stroke engines, the members of the Honda team have their eyes on an eighth straight riders’ championship and ninth straight manufacturers’ championship. Team Number Rider Age Nationality 2013 Result Repsol Honda Team 1 Toni Bou 27 Spain WCT Champion 5 Takahisa Fujinami 34 Japan WCT 5th
  14. Apparently there will no more 260 race reps for model year 2014, if you want one you'll have to wait for 2015. They've sold out and apparently the uk isn't getting anymore, so if you want a 260, you'll have to have the standard one. I know of a couple of people who have been waiting quite a while for one and were expecting to get them in march/April and are rather miffed about it. Maybe someone from Honda could verify this to all it customers waiting,
  15. Total SCUM, these people are, a single piece of lead between the eyes is what I'd like to see as punishment for stealing. Really feel for you all and hope you get them back soon. Ofcourse, the people that buy these nicked bikes are just as bad as the thieving scum are, if they couldn't sell the stuff, most of it wouldn't be nicked.
  16. Don't go too thick with the carbon sheet, 2mm is best, it bends slightly, so if hit by rocks, doesn't snap, whereas thicker ones jut break.
  17. So sorry to hear about BVM, I can only repeat what has been said about all the guys there, I really hope someone buys it up and keeps it going with all the staff.
  18. I don't know what deal he has, but I am referring to something like that, which I believe was along the lines of what Pidcocks and JR had with Montesa. Ossa did something similar I believe.
  19. If you have any interest in Motorsport, you'll no doubt know that funding a manufacturers deal by bringing in sponsors is a common thing, only a handful of people actually get paid by the team, most pay there own way. Until Adam, Toni, Takahisi, Albert and Jeroni retire, there won't be anyother factory riders. Eddie surely has managed to get funding and support from the Swedish importer/others and Montesa have agreed to support him with a couple of customer factory bikes and support at world rounds, obviously he won't be treated the same way as Fuji and Toni. If it was to be the end of his trials career, which I don't see why it would, it would only probably be due to him not being able to afford to continue in trials, which is almost certainly why Alfredo Gomez finished trials. JR as far as I know, lost the Montesa ride due to the sad Pidcocks issue and his unfortunate injury, or maybe he didn't want to ride the Montesa anymore. Paying for a ride is probably the only way to get to the top and in a couple of years there may be some good paid rides available. Ossa riders are no different and factory packages for the WTC are/were available last year and probably this year too. Some people always seem to look at the negative things about trials and don't look at the reality of the world we live in. There is bugger all money in most levels of sport, even more so in trials. The truth is, you have to find your own way to do what you want in life and fund it whatever way you can, if you can't, you move on to the next challenge. If people don't buy new bikes and gear, then there won't be any sponsored riders, simple.
  20. Went over with a few mates to support a friend in the trial, the place is great and it really enjoyed watching the old boys ;0) (and a few youngsters) ride round on these great bikes, there's some great museum pieces being ridden in anger :0) which is always nice to see and everyone seem to be enjoying it, even though the weather was awful :0(.

  22. I wouldn't imagine you'd find anything too difficult to adapt to, it's just different to a 2t and a bit heavier. They are brilliant bikes and your idea of getting acclimatised/practice is a very good idea, seeing as you are coming from a place that is so different. Who are you buying from, get your order in ASAP, I know of a few who are waiting for the next batch to be built.
  23. Well done for getting an entry. Good luck getting a 260 in the UK, there sold out of Race Reps and I don't think there are many standard bikes left. Montesa completely underestimated the demand for the Race Rep, they thought they would sell a lot more standard bikes, but most buyers want the Showa suspended bikes. I think the next batch of race reps won't be here until April. I think Honda might be doing something for the ssdt, but you'd have to look into that, (give Steve at st Blazey a call) maybe they'll do something like Pidcocks did, renta bike packages. I see you have an OSSA 280, why don't you ride one of those, or your own bike, I know your in Kenya, but I would have thought ossa will be doing renta bikes, (then you would be on a familiar bike, which you've practised on and know how to work on, with spares you can keep for your own bike).
  24. I think Honda UK charge £25 for a letter dating your bike. All new Monts are sold in the UK as not for use on the road from what I was told, but you can still register them with the DVLA.
