Welcome to the heavy weight class ;0)
Parts from either BVM, Sandifords, st Blazey or Craigs.
2005 manual is fine, no big mechanical changes to yours.
Oils, castrol power 1 4T 10w-30 engine oil (4 ltr bottle will do 8 changes), elf HTX 740 for the transmission (1ltr bottle will do just under 2 changes) it's expensive, but the best (BVM only I think).
Frame wise, do what you like, it's your bike, personnally I'd leave it black, you can get frame covers to cover up the scratches.
Things to do, change oils, filters and change the fork oil, check suspension linkage bearing/bushes and pack with grease. Clean the tea bag filter on the fuels pump (in petrol and an airline).
Enjoy :0)

Not better, different. The standard bike has a "more bouncy/springy feel" but doesn't feel so plush or as well damped as the showa's. If you trick ride, you may prefer the standard setup, but the showa's definitely have the best quality feel, all really depends on your own personal thoughts, which is why I would recommend anyone interested to have a go on a demo before buying, make your own mind up, don't base it on what others have said, as one may suit your style better than the other.

Interested to hear what guys has to say.
-
See, changing the rules has manage to attract thousands and thousands of new entries, all be it, there bikes are under weight !!!
Nigel, don't worry about it, it's not going to affect you or anyone else, unless you intend to ride a WTC round. Maybe the CoC's can start each trial through a muddy hole, that will add a few kg to everyone's bikes, then they'll all be legal ;0)
-
I was told that if the road foundations in the UK were made 10% deeper, the road would last 25% longer. I would imagine you could say that with quite a lot of well used things.
-
Are you happy with the standard setup? I have the H&D ti ones, I didn't bother fitting this time, (They jack the rear end up a bit and slightly alter the way the rear shock works), but the 14 feels very similar to my 12 with the plates and I like the new standard setup, so I probably won't be bothering. My rear shock is set 1 click out from fully out and feels fast enough.

Que jumping and not saying thank you to the observer/organisers at the end of the day :0(
-
Here's some mitani info, couldn't post a link, it doesn't work.
-
Standard, Mitani or Termignoni ? A definitive answer is coming very soon ;0)
-
I take it you got a standard clutch, if so, you can buy clutch plates that have dimples on them that hold fluid, this may improve the feel of your clutch http://www.bvm-parts.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=1388 . Mitani do 3 different clutches for the 4rt, they do make the clutches much better and are lighter too, but as mitani is Japanese, it's a bit difficult to get the definitive, which one do I need, answer. You could try fitting the clutch plates from a new 260. Banyeres sell mitani clutches, you could try asking Josep what he would recommend. What transmission oil are you using?
-
Maybe it's because they sold sfa at trails events and thought their sponsorship money was better spent else where. Wasn't Dibs sponsored by them too, but no longer. I'm surprised Red bull haven't jumped in with Bou.
-
Great to hear that Albert pushed Toni all the way, shame he didn't win, it's surely about time he got to win again, he really is a superb rider. To anyone lucky enough to go, How did the sump rule go, any protest about it.
-
I think only canada imports Montesa, so I would imagine Billy either imported himself, or someone is bringing them in independently.
Billy, I can scan the important service info from my manual and email it to you if you want, just pm me your email address.
-
I can't see sfa :0)
What about a system like on moto gp bikes, where the disc and sprocket stay on the swing arm when you remove the wheel, so you can just flip it around, I guess that would be expensive to produce.
-
Here's how to fix the brake hose. Never seen a carbon one break. Why have you got a Spanish language manual, I have to say, some dealers seem very lazy with there bike prep, you bought a race rep, so all the decals and carbon parts should be fitted, ready for collection. I cannot for life of me, understand why the fan relay was put there.
What standard of rider are you Billy ?, I would strongly recommend you change the standard gearing, either a 9/42 or 9/43, you can do most sections in 1st and 2nd with this set up. If your going to run with the headlight fitted, disconnect the power lead and switch and remove it as it's not very good :0(.
Anything else you need to know? Just ask.
-
Got a fuel cap. I'm assuming the carbon is a cover to stop prying eyes.
-
This shows where the fan relay sits under the throttle body next to the rear break reservoir. If you have this then the question would still stand.
If it is the fan relay, I'd move it either back to the original position, or preferably either in front of the fuel tank or rest it on top of the throttle body connector.
-
Also agree, fan relay, can't think why it's been put there, normally lives in front of the fuel tank, next to the oil catch tank on my 2012, it's factory mounting point is next to the tilt switch under the tb.

I'm sorry to here that, have you sent an email to the FIM ? As I said before, it doesn't affect club riders, only if you want to ride the WTC. Have you contacted beta to see what is available. Your absolutely right, it's pretty poor to find out the new rules this late, but it's their WTC, so they can do as they like and if you want to ride, then you have to comply to their rules. (I know this doesn't help your situation, but I am sure this has happened in many other sports before)
Most the riders who enter the WTC are at least supported by their countries importer and in the uk, have/buy new bikes every 3/4 months, so no doubt, by the time their round of the WTC comes around, they would have a new bike. I'm sure all the manufacturers have thought about this already. I am no mechanical expert, but I would imagine it would require a new head and piston, maybe you could ask the factory for an exchange, before he rides it, (via air mail) with you covering the mailing cost only.
-
Congrats Billyt, they are a really great ride and look the mutts nuts. I've got MCe laid up insurance (

Why do people moan about Honda, they are the biggest motorcycle company in the world, they are probably the most successful mc company, have won the most, in all disciplines and have the most influence with the FIM. The 4rt is heavy, compared to anything else, but at clubman level, it isn't uncompetitive, it has plenty of power, it's just different to what most are use to. Honda is not try to put every one out of business, they want to win, have the best rider by far and the works bike is as good as any other factory bike, maybe better, but if Bou was on a Gas Gas, he would still be winning. I don't believe in this so called Honda conspiracy, there isn't one, yes Honda can use there influence to guide things there way, but surely all the other manufacturers could join together to stop something they don't like, if they wanted to.
Montesa/Honda is fortunate enough to have Repsol as a sponsor, so has a lot more money to go with HRC and Honda's money. If BMW wanted to sell and compete in Trials, they would no doubt have plenty of resources a Sponsor etc. Beta, Gas Gas, Sherco, OSSA are tiny company's with very little money, they make superb bikes, but why should Honda lower there standards, just to give everyone else a chance. I hear people wishing trials could get bigger, we should be trying to get big sponsors in etc etc. well, Red Bull could spend a lot more money on trials, but they don't, because they don't think it's worth it, but just say they did, trials could end up being controlled by someone who has very little interest in Trials, but purely for the potential profit they could make (Honda/Montesa don't make a lot of money out of trials, they do it to win and because there are people within Honda who are passionate about trials). Every sport is suffering at the moment due to the world recession. Trials riders don't have control of the WTC, the FIM do and they choose who will run it and what the rules will be, if you as a rider want to compete in their WTC, you have to accept their rules.
WTC has nothing in common with club trials, there will be no weight limits or cc limits, the clubs don't want that and don't have the man power to police it. The British championship may have these limits, just to put it inline with the WTC and eventually, the manufacturers will only be selling bikes within these limits, but it won't stop You riding a bike that isn't, in a club trial. There are plenty of clubs still run under stop allowed and that is almost certain to continue, if it doesn't and they don't have a choice, I would imagine those that want stop allowed will go amca.
What happens in the WTC has very little relevance to club riders, trials will only die out if no one supports their local trials clubs. As long as they have land owners willing to allow them to use there land and plenty of riders willing to come and pay, it will continue. So stop worrying about this rule and that rule, just get out and support your trials club and enjoy your bike.
Have a Happy Trials New Year :0)

I
I don't think there's much on the mudguard, apart from the blue bit that extends to the fake seat, just like on a real Rothamans and a Rothmans decal at the rear. The problem with the Pidcocks one, is that they continued the blue and stripes too far back on the rear mudguard and didn't leave the wheels gold.
It would look really good on the new 260, white mudguards, white frame, blue tank and gold wheels.
-
There Showa off a 315, If I remember rightly, 2000 - 2004.
-
This is what Pidcocks produced,
