    2014 Montesa?

I emailed them today to ask what their plans were for, buying, parts, delivery and price etc for the new bike, after I heard about the Honda dealer situation. (I emailed Craig's last Monday 8th, still waiting for a reply)

    2014 Montesa?

The only extras you need are a bit of talent and a big dose of confidence, trick bits are mainly just bling. Will we be seeing you on a new one at the Wallace next year then :0)

    2014 Montesa?

"FFS" Dabster, what are you on, no one has been " gush, gush and gush some more" apart from you. This is a Montesa forum page that people are interested in discusing the New 260, clearly your not, except just putting it down. The above post may go some way to addressing you negative posts, but hey, stop Trolling and spend sometime chatting with your mates on the Gas Gas and Bultaco forums instead of dissing the new "heavy, uncompetitive, old fashioned, expensive" bike you haven't yet ridden. Hopefully you might get a go on one and maybe it might change your mind.

    2014 Montesa?

Like a lot of advance new 4 strokes, some use slipper clutches and I assume this will do a similar thing, most companies are trying to reduce internal engine friction to make them more effient and powerful.

    2014 Montesa?

That's one of the features of the new engine that I'm interested in. I don't know how it works, but I think the future engines have something that works similar. There is reduced internal friction, I assume that's part of, or the result of the crankcase decompression. Would it have something to do with the crankcase pressure valve?

    2014 Montesa?

Many riders seem pre-conditioned to modern 2 strokes and there light weight and wouldn't ride a 4 stroke even if it was better. I've seen some youngsters do very well and win on 4rts, a couple of years ago they would never have considered one, but now they love them. If they had the money, I think a lot of young experts could win on a 4stroke and still have as much fun. Surely being good on a trials bike is all about confidence and technique. The new bike may just be what they're looking for.

    2014 Montesa?

It's not worse than it was before, there are 2 new models, Montesa have improved a good bike and have now built a cheaper model to be sold at a competitive price, the other a race rep as per before. There is no, my bikes better than yours, you like your bike and I like mine, end of. I like red, you like blue. I like redheads and you like blondes, that's what life is all about, choice and personal preference. The new Mont is competitive as a clubman bike, it is the heaviest bike out now, but I and everyone I know who has one, love them, they are very satisfying to ride. By the way, my understanding is, Sandifords and Pidcocks both lost the franchise because Honda want a Honda dealer to distribute the bike, they both wanted to continue and Sandifords still sell parts. It's not compulsory to like 4rt's :0) but I hope some more people will like them now theres some new bikes. think you'll find people are talking about the new bike, on the Montesa forum, so if your not interested, then don't view it.

    2014 Montesa?

So there. :0) well said old boy :0)
  12. It's top gear, everything is scripted, would you, or I, jump through a glass window ?, would anyone ride a bike through a wall?. The glass would have been sugar glass and the wall would have been fake. And the the jump at the end, well, I wouldn't down Dougie's ability, but it's top gear, so...... Possibly setup. I don't think (I'll have to go and watch it again) they mentioned the fact Dougie was a multiple world trials champion, just that he was a MBE. Better than no tv exposure at all though.

    2014 Montesa?

Please Honda Montesa, sell this bike for sensible money and give the distribution to BVM who will do a great job for both you and US, the customers.

    2014 Montesa?

Showa, that's part of the reason for buying a Montesa 4rt, the best suspension on a trials bike IMHO. We'll soon find out, 1 1/2 days to go.
  15. Rolling back, hoping back, was one of the most common things done by riders under stop allowed and rarely penalised for. Neither stop allowed or no stop are perfect, because the riders will always ride to how they think they can get away with. I would rather watch no stop ( but only if it is observed as no stop ), simply because I don't want to see the outdoor WTC end up like the indoor WTC, keep them completely separate. But I do think both the riders and the public should be listened to, when deciding the rules. Because, one, a rider shouldn't have to do something he/she doesn't like and two, the public are paying both directly and indirectly to see the top riders ride. The WTC has no relevance to club trials, as has been said before, clubs are currently free to choose what rules they like, but the BTC needs to be run under the same rules as the WTC.

    Montesa's Future

Honda have pulled out of trials several times in the past, aswell as F1 the Dakar, etc, etc, etc.

    Montesa's Future

Pidcock's pulled the plug on its Honda franchise, they wanted to keep the Montesa franchise but apparently Honda wanted/insisted that they would have to continue selling Hondas to keep it. Montesa's future, they have a history of pulling out, but apparently they have a new bike ready, but don't know wether to build it or not, due to the world recession. Some say, next year, some say 2015 and others say it won't happen at all. If you want a 4rt, go and get one,(parts aren't a problem) you only live for a short time and are dead for an awfully long time.
  18. A British women winning the world trials championship in 2013, now that Laia has jacked her Gas Gas contract?
  19. Having seen other vids of so called no stop, yes. He may have made it look easier than it actually was (Albert is capable of wining). But without seeing all the other riders riding this section (as they may have got cleans for momentarily stopping). Still shows what no stop should be and it's nice to see a rider making his own decisions rather than being assisted, told what to do by a minder.
  20. If Toni wasn't riding, this would've been Alberts year, his riding style is so natural and clean. I thought he rode best at Sheffield this year too. I can't see much wrong with this.... http://youtu.be/7ox0dTY0BSE
  21. What I think Albert was saying, is he wants the observers to be strict with their marking, consistently, as he felt that it was a case of some riders getting away with stopping whereas some were getting a 5. If he new that every observer was going to be strict, he and the other riders would know they would have to concentrate on riding the correct way all the time. He hoped that things would get better. But Thierry Machaud thought it was a success and that he was happy for it to become even more slacker as the series ran, Or something along those lines. I don't think he is happy.
  22. No Stop - Moving, as long as the bike is moving, sideways, hopping the front/rear wheel then it would appear the FIM are perfectly happy that that is No Stop. I think the definition may have got diluted in the translation. I like No Stop trials and clearly it will develop a new skill/style, but a system that is so open to interpretation by the FIM, organisers, observers and the general public is ridiculous. The rules should and must be clear and enforced with no grey areas, otherwise one rider, (either due to his status or popularity etc) will benefit from another, meaning the scoring and the championship is farcical. I know it cannot be perfect, (as humans are involved and as per the previous stop allowed rules, which were quite ridiculous too, backing a stopped bike up as an example, which was ignored most the time) but to give our sport credibility, there cannot be "the benefit of doubt" element in a world championship. This isn't a club trial were talking about, it's a professional sport that people earn a living from. My armchair opinion and solution is, 1 mark for every fault, you stop, 1, go backwards (a few inches), 1, foot, 1, hop the back/front wheel whilst stopped, 1, etc, etc, etc, up to a max of 5 marks per section, but the section must be laid out to be ridden No Stop with a time limit. So if you truly ride no stop, you win. I love trials, I ride, observe and watch, but I cannot help but feel we are all kidding ourselves if we think either stop allowed or no stop are better than one another, there both observed incorrectly due to fear/embarrassment/intimidation, whatever it is, its not right to have a championship that has rules that are not used to score riders, with the correct deserving winner, who has ridden the trial to the letter of the rule. As an observer, I would be very happy to mark under these rules (having had previous hassles from observing no stop and stop allowed trials). I'm sure there'll be plenty to pick fault with what I have suggested and quite rightly, as it only my opinion, but clearly stop allowed and no stop are far from perfect. The whole point of having a winner, is surely that they have won fairly within the rules, not by gaining a lower score because of who they are, what team they ride for, or due to giving them "the benefit of doubt". I want to see the the best man win in a way that I, or anyone else can observe as a spectator, without that irritation of thinking, he stopped and got a clean. (I've just watched a vid of Bou at Montegi where he stopped several times and even rolled backwards on a water fall section and got a clean for it). I don't blame the observers, I've done it and sometimes I swear I'll never do it again after getting aggro, it's not easy when spectators are judging your assessment of a riders performance. Lets face it, their all volunteers, trying to do their best, no volunteers, no trial. I must say I like watching the no stop riding so far, it's nice to see a new style that flows without all the long stops, it just needs tweaking and maybe not called No Stop. Clearly the FIM cannot change anything this year, but maybe next year it will be tweaked and renamed, so lets all just enjoy what we see from the best riders in the world.
  23. I see Gatti is riding a works 4rt in Honda/mitani colours, with the new twin spark engine, apparently it's 313cc, and from what I can see, his bike is a works Montesa, not one of his bikes he usually uses in Japan. I thought we might see something at Montegi, maybe the new bike will be shown too.
  24. Got £10 on he wins the championship this year, 2 mates are betting on Lorenzo and Pedrosa, so I hope to be collecting 20 notes at the end of the season :0). I just love his riding style, it's a bit like Stoners but more extreme. Just hope he doesn't do the Lorenzo trick and start binning it in his first year.
