  1. Good bike, But ;0)............... There's a reason why there a lot cheaper. Horses for courses though, you may hate one and love the other, it would be boring if we all liked the same thing.
  2. 2012 models got the lighter rear wheel. Any 4rt with a decent PTB map and gearing is a good ride, get your bike setup well and you'll love it :0). The 2009 model and newer had new fork adjustment, new map and new quieter silencer.

    2013 Repsol

Yes there is, but as far as I know, no change from 2012. It will have a Limited Edition plaque on the frame with 2012 on it, as they are 2012 editions for 2013. Check with Pidcocks for any info to confirm.

    Bvm Test Day

2 are going to buy 4rt's and another possibly a Beta.
  5. this weighs 76.5 kg with a full tank of fuel. But as John b says, easiest way to loose weight, is, loose some weight :0). Ckm, is that a EVO 4t or 2t?
  6. I maybe biased, but I think it's fair to say, the Showa is the best you can buy, you'll find the price reflects that. Have you serviced your fork, change the spring if it's had a lot of use, a lot cheaper than buying new forks.
  7. Popped over to buy some kit and had a go on a few of the new bikes. JTG 250, very nice, light, great suspension, grips great, didn't like the gear lever travel and lack of positive action/gear selection. OSSA 280, very light but feels old fashioned, engine not particularly that nice, didn't like it straight away to be honest, so not really fair to say much more. (I nearly bought one 16 months ago, unseen or ridden, TF I didn't) Beta 125, great bike, I could get much better results with this bike, feels light and small, front forks were awfull, wooden and felt like they bottomed out easily, but grips very well and has just enough power for a clubman. Hate the new colours and that rear mudguard :0(. Pp Montesa 280, loved it, yes it feels heavier than the rest, because it is, but everything works as it should, it feels solid and planted, the suspension is the best out of all of them, it rode the mud aswell as the others, in my not so capable hands :0).The 280 was very docile down low, but had Plenty when you wanted it. None of the bikes were, WOW I want one, except the Mont 280, even though I don't need it :0), but the Beta was an excellent easy bike to ride for my level of riding (Im 47, 13.5 stone clubman "wobbler" rider) and if I'm really honest, would do just about everything I'm capable of easier, due to its lack of excess power and nimble handling. The JTG was a great bike and if I didn't like the Monts so much, would be the bike I'd buy, easy to ride, almost as good suspension as the showa's, docile engine but the gearbox :0( (to be fair, apart from the Mont, none of the others were that good). So, I won't be rushing out to buy a new bike just yet, but will be spending a bit more cash on bling for my fantastic Montesa :0) I just get a fantastic satisfaction riding this bike and "smokers" just don't really get me that excited. Thanks to Mark Kemp and all the BVM staff for a great day (when the rain stopped :0)), Breakheart is a great venue no matter what the weather does, plenty for all levels of rider to try the bikes, mud, rocks and steep banks and roots. Also, to all the importers for the kind loan of their new bikes, for my perusal FOC, without obligation, so that I may, or may not buy one, (its food for thought for the future and I do know, 2 of my mates will be buying) THANK YOU
  8. Yes, it's the extremely heavy new one, weighs about 100 grams more than the ultra light Airoh TRR Trials Helmet. You pays yer money and enjoys yer choice :0). The Mitani reps are new helmets, same shell, different lining.
  9. http://www.colinappleyard.com/motorcycles/new/off-road/trials-bikes/gas-gas-tx-randonne-2012 If these were selling by the truckload, then all the manufacturers would be making one, but there not, because 99% of trials riders want/buy a one purpose lightweight modern trials bike. Watched a few at the Downland NBMCC trial whilst observiving today, looks like a good all purpose bike and the riders seem to like them.
  10. There's a new shoei TR3 for 2013, they are superb Quality helmets, but quite a bit more cash than the others. Mitani have a brand new version in 4 metallic colour schemes, you can get them from Banyerers, although there not in stock yet. They are loads a money, but I wouldn't wear anything else. You can still get white in the UK, I Believe BVM have some and you can also get plain Black from BANYERERS.
  11. He's not buying it to ride it. Get one of the top riders (who's good at talking and can clearly describe what trials is all about in a few minutes) to ring into Simon Mayo's show, he has a slot with the sports guy matt, where you can promote a sport that's not well known. Dougie, world champion, MBE, would be the ideal candidate as he's had lots of exposure to the media. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/simon-mayo/contact/friday-fixture/
  12. Bike Sales are the reason. Trials is so small, I dont think the FIM is that bothered, it has an obligation to its members, but. MX in particular, has half a dozen or so races per event doesn't it, with 30 - 40 riders per race, paying a lot more to play for the day. They also have a lot of tracks to officially practice, that you pay a day fee to ride. They aren't riding amongst the public, which is what's possible (Breakheart Quarry, witch is a public conservation area/park). The more the land is used, the more likely to upset the neighbours, it's hard enough keeping the land we use now. A lot more competitors would be great, but at what price?
  13. Who's going to pay, will anyone read it? The trouble is, how popular do we all truly want trials to be ? If another 5000 Joe Blogs were riding at weekends, would there be enough venues to cater for them, some trials are over subscribed (the best ones) if you found it difficult to get an entry, longer cues at sections etc, etc, would you be so happy about the sport getting bigger. What about practice grounds, illegal riding in sensitive areas (that could lead to clubs loosing use). It's a difficult dilemma, get bigger, with all the possible issues that may come with it. Importers want more riders, understanbly, because that's how they make a living, but will that bring the cost of bikes and spares down, sadly, I doubt it, the reason everything is so expensive at the moment, is due to the cost of raw materials, fuel and manpower and it's not likely to get any better with India and China becoming wealthier. We all have our own ideas about should and shouldn't be done and there lies the problem, maybe the answer is to do what the ACU have done, run two world championships (just like MX and SX).
  14. No, I like to see both, but I get a bit bored after a while watching stop allowed, its not flowing like no stop.I like to see people like Thorpey riding a difficult section No Stop, it amasses me how they can do it and there aren't many that can. Both styles require a great amount of skill, just different.
  15. They must have been very loose then, good to hear youve sorted it.
  16. I think you'd be better off arguing for a new name for the new "stop allowed" trials, as No Stop motorcycle trials has been around for quite a number of years ;0). Maybe it could be called "do whatever you like motorcycle trials" or "stop, backwards, sideways motorcycle trials" or "stunt trials". The only problem I see with no stop trials at the moment, the rules aren't enforced. I don't want to make anyone do what they don't want to do, I have my opinion and mine isn't the right one, but it's also not the wrong one either. The ACU has tried no stop, some didn't like it, some did, so now they are going to try something else, you can't knock them for trying. If you think you could do better............. The ACU and the FIM are the governing bodies of our sport, they oversee the organisation of the sport and the rules, if the members of these organisations don't like what their doing, there is a system in place to get things changed. Nothing is done in a day, it takes time, so get busy, if you don't like it. The Riders of these championships will do two things, go and do something else, or do what their paymasters want and appparently, they want No Stop. If Toni Bou decides he's off, someone with a lot of talent, will take his place, simple. (the problem with brilliant riders like, Jordi, Doug and Toni, is their so dominant, it gets a little boring IMHO) the other problem IMHO, is there needs to be a big difference between indoor trials and outdoor trials, especially with all these man made sections being used. There is no simple answer to the decline of trials, but the financial situation doesn't help. Trials could look to the road riding fraternity, don't bother with the dirt bike show (no point in spending money on the converted) exhibit at the NEC motorcycle show, lots of people with money, who have no knowledge of our brilliant sport. If people want to go and watch a spectacle, of amazing riding, by the best in the world, then I'm afraid it's going to cost £££, you cannot expect an organisation/club to put on a well organised event for nothing, if you want to compare it with MX etc, the entry fee is a lot higher for the competitor and the spectator has to pay and with a lot more people going, than in trials. Everything costs in 2012/2013 nothing is free anymore.
  17. Forgive me for suggesting this, (it could Be a possiblillity, I'm no expert and I'm sure you know what your doing) but when you adjusted the valve clearances, did you turn the crank to the T mark and adjust the valve that was loose (wiggle it to make sure it was the open one), as you could have been 180 degrees out. I'm sure someone with far more knowledge, maybe able tdispel this suggestion (and confirm I'm talking b#####ks ;0)) Hope you get to the bottom of it with the minimum expense.

Because a tatty trail bike wouldn't do the tricks and stunts the stuntman wanted do in the film. So they needed a reliable brilliant bike to do it and bought a couple of Mont 4RT's ;0).
  19. Hey flappy, did you know, someone's nicked your chain ;0)
  20. Yes, we know about that one and it's nice price :0(, that's why we've been trying to source another much cheaper one. Thanks anyway :0).
  21. Mine doesn't always start first, second or even third kick when hot, sometimes, but a throttle reset results in a guaranteed start. The more hours on the engine the better, but as you say, could be as simple as a new plug, (I think I'll bung a new one in too). Electrics, it's witchcraft I tell yah :0)
  22. Have you checked the valve clearances since owning it? It should start when you reset the throttle, if it's not, then something is definitely not right, 12 weeks old, take it back to your dealer and let them check it over. Just a few ideas, are you slightly opening the throttle when kicking it over, take your hand of the twist grip and hold the inner bar. Don't jab at the kick start, one slowish kik to the footrest and hold a second before taking your boot off.
  23. Honda have said that they will sell a customer RCV in 2014, almost exactly the same as a works bike, bar a few little trick bits, for $1,000,000, (that'll be less than a second slower than the factory bike) but Dorna aren't interested. Honda have threatened to pull the plug on Moto GP, if standard ecu's are made compulsory, the riders want to ride prototype bikes, the public want to see the best riders riding prototype bikes, Dorna want to turn it into WSBK. Jorge has been taken out by another rider and had a mechanical break down, so I don't think he's safe yet, Dani want a championship real bad and Casey will want a final win before going car racing. Then there's Cal, Dovi, Bradl and Alvaro who are all keen to get on the podium and, a win if there's any hint of a chance. If I was to bet on one man though, Jorge will be champ in 2012.
  24. Toni and Fuji have been wearing prototype boots for years, the production boot hasn't change since it came out, except the quality doesn't seem to be as good as it they were. Then again, there may be a new boot next year, Fuji and Bou's boots use a different sole aswell.
