If you don't mind travelling, Derek, Edmondson Racing. Rebuilding using all Honda parts may be very difficult, if not impossible though.
-
It would probably workout about the same cost buying a mitani one with postage as buying a Montesa and cutting it. Black mudguard is for 2014-2015, red one is for 2005-2012 bikes and cost about 119 plus postage.
-
You can buy the new style mudguard that has the old shape front, mitani make them, you'll have to google who sells them, as site rules don't allow me to mention it.
-
Update for all you guys who have ordered Ohlins, tomorrow is collection day :0)
Just need to get my act together get the bike finished asap.
-
Looks great, just need a nice Mitani alloy side stand to finish it off.
-
Sadly, I can imagine his only option will be used parts as parts with NNO or ND9 are HRC parts and not available, or very unlikely to be. The lower linkage bush, look at a bearing supplier for something, you probably won't get an exact copy, but he could make a spacer to get the collars.
-
I think Franck, fantic303 is just amazed by your work and would like to a lot more detailed photographs of it.
-
A spark arrester, as required in some states in the US.

I know of 11 4rts that have had varied life's by owners ranging from novice to expert and none have needed top end rebuilds, ever. Some, like I said before, have been used twice a week for years. If your having to rebuild top ends, it must be something to do with either, fuel, oil or ?, but it ain't a Honda issue.
-
My point is, the filter doesn't come out, or go in easily due to the flywheel and needs to be persuaded to go in, if you know what I mean. Anyway, the point shedracer was making is gone by the way now, hasn't it, never mind.
-
Filter removal and fitment requires a certain technique in my experience.
-
I know a rider that's ridden a 2007 4rt, twice a week, just about every week and it's had virtually nothing done to it, except regular oil and filter changes, a mitani clutch, it still sounds great and rides great. It could probably do with a new piston and rings, but doesn't feel or sound like it does. If you maintain them, they will outlast anything. As has been said linkage bearing need looking after, but that's to be expected and classed as a consumable if you don't.
Buy a well maintained one and look after it, filter the fuel like shedracer says and you shouldn't have any problems.

OMG :0).....| that is superb work, I want please :0)
Can we see more of what you have done please.
What's the valve and gauge for? Helium to make it even lighter ? :0) my standard frame weighs 7kg, what's that weigh ?
-
Hi panerai,
Thanks for the info on Ohlins, I have arranged replacement Ohlins for my and 4 other TC members through Andy. Your bike by the way, is superb :0)....|

If think some of you guys are missing the point, the vertigo is a New Bike, no one is going to manufacture a "simplified bike" no matter what you might want. It's 2014 and regulations have to be met and to be fair, Vertigo want to sell a cutting edge modern bike that's innotive and perform better than anyone else's.
The frame is the brands identity, instantly recognisable, the engine has to be competitive to the highest level and everything else is available of the shelf. They've done a great job, but until we can have a go (the video shows us nothing that Doug couldn't do on anyother brands bike) we won't know if it's as good as it looks. Sure it'll probably have a few little niggles, just like all the other brands have, but hopefully nothing serious and they'll give great back up and parts availability. Wether you like it or not, EFi is here to stay, it's been on the 4rt since 2005 and there haven't been loads of issues with it failing (most issues are with the tea bag fuel pump filter clogging). Electric water pump, who knows how that will fair, but surely a lot of its reliability will be down to the quality of the parts and I believe that they rejected a lot of electrical parts used by other brands after testing them and finding them not reliable.
For all the people on this website, be honest, how many of you will actually buy a new bike, whatever the brand, this year, next year or the year after? Especially a top end priced one. Let's face it, you either like it, or you don't, there's plenty of choice out there. Good luck to them I say (I wonder if a 4rt motor would slot in that frame :0).

Some Mitani header pipes will just slide in the original silencer gasket collar without any issue, as the diameter of the pipe going into the silencer is the same as the original, but some (the later ones) have the weld for the sleeved down part too close the the end, going into the silencer, so you can either use a dremel to reduce the length of the gasket in the silencer, or buy a new one and cut it down.
-
Thanks for your responses guys.
-
Can anyone recommend a durable fuel/oil resistant satin black engine paint please. I believe the previous owner used PJ1 paint, which hasnt gone hard and appears not to like fuel.
-
61 ajs, Mitani is a trials bike parts buisiness in Japan and Mitani is the owner.

2015 Race Rep £6999, 2014 Race Rep (absolutely mint condition) £5600, and you'd rather pay another £1400 for the sake of £100. (Actually, knowing you Johnny, you wouldn't even buy one at £4500 ;0).
-
Yeah right, In your dreams Johnny, you might buy a well used 14, that's battered about on rocks, but you won't be getting a mint well looked after one for that. I can tell you now £5500 - £5700, were not talking about a gas gas, sherco etc here and there's more demand than there are used ones about.

Everyone to his own, but the SHOWA is better IMHO, tech are a cheap copy, good, but not as good as a SHOWA fork with 5 ml less oil and the showa's have a much plusher quality feel. The Repsols are worth the extra, if you can afford one, if not, the standard is a great bike and you'd be very happy with it, you could either fit a SHOWA rear, or buy an Ohlins, but then your getting closer to race rep money, most people would really like a race rep, because they look the DB's. They also easier to sell.
Look out for a used 14 Repsol if funds are a bit short and you really want one, but there like RHS at the moment. (I do know someone that is selling his 14 Repsol soon, if your interested).
-
I spoke to a team member of the Honda Repsol team recently and was surprised to learn that he, Fuji and Toni like the no stop rules (the only problem Toni has with it, is the events are now easier, which means the other riders have a better chance of beating him). He did say that maybe, due to what is allowed, that it shouldn't be called no stop, but they like it because the riding is more flowing in the sections.
I believe the the Japenese championship is going no stop in 15 too.
So let's thro away the no stop tag and call it something like........
Dynamic Trials

What's your gearing setup? 9-39, 9-40, 9-41, 9-42, or 9-43?
I'm a newbie owner and buying a new rear sprocket and would like to know what you all think is the best setup please.
