Unless you buy aftermarket decals, as they come in several pieces, unlike OEM ones, which are indeed, very difficult to fit perfectly. The mudguards are not painted, unless it's an RTL red one (2008 I think) that were painted.

Nice to see these great bikes being ridden, so here's a few to enjoy.

Greevsy, I'm not wishing to doubt you, im no expert, that was just my understanding of how it worked. Someone did suggest offset headstock bearings to me a couple of weeks ago, rather than a cut and shut job, but I believe that's also very difficult to achieve. I'd like to get rid of the tiller effect of the handle bars aswell. I know that MA and MG both recommend the forks being pushed through the clamps to lower the front end.
Let's hope an expert Pops along with some first class advice soon :0)

Surely if the tripple clamps are Parallel with the headstock (which the standard ones aren't), then the fork angle would have changed, just like if the frame had been cut. A new set of tripple clamps offset to the rear would give the same effect, maybe not quite as much, but better than the chopper style originals. You could try some 4rt ones with top hat spacers for the 35mm forks, but you'd need the bearings sorted I believe. Raise the forks through the tripple clamps, fit a longer rear shock, will all make things a bit better than stock. The 85/86's have a shorter rear shock than an 88/89's.

The offset appears to be incorrect on my bike, in the 89 manual it says the rear wheel offset should be 24.5. But my wheel is 35.75. The wheel had been rebuilt with an excel tubless rim which is 72.40 wide. I'm am rebuilding the wheel with stainless butted spokes, so need to confirm wether it was wrong and what an 88 offset is.
Does anyone happen to have an 88 manual or a link to a PDF. I already have athe 89 one, but because there are differences (all be it small ones, it would be great to get one).
Cheers for any assistance.

I'm sure you did the job right David, but probably a seal not seated when you rebuilt (easy to push the piston back in distorting the Seal), did you put new ones in, or use the old ones? Did you use a bit of fluid to lube the seals? I always bleed the brakes with the Resevoir empty and the biggest syringe you can get hold of. Your then pushing all the fluid and air up to the Resevoir (push it in slowly whilst lightly tapping the caliper and brake hose) so never really have any problems.

Yes indeed, well done Emma, you've finally done it. Hope you have many more to come.

Fuji has been around for a long time, been world champion, come second many times and won individual rounds countless times, but has had a difficult time of late with injuries. But last night he had the op he's been waiting for, on his knee, so hopefully will be back for the 2015 season, winning again.

If those were the rules, Montesa would be selling proper replicas, not just a standard bike with a flash paint job and a bit of carbon. IMHO, Bou would still be kicking butt and that's not putting down the rest of the guys, he's just in a different league. He only gets beaten when the sections are a bit easier.
-
The idle screw does exactly that, nothing else. The bike will be difficult to start if the idle is set too low. Could be a bad plug. I suggest you get a dual map throttle body with a standard set up for sea level and a second map for altitude if that's going to be a regular thing. The throttle body and map should be able to cope with variations in altitude to some degree, but 8000 ft is quite high. I would also try opening up the air vents on the rear mudguard like the factory bikes to get more airflow and use a very thin oil on the filter.

Hope to be there too, (I've been saving air miles from t**co for years) I have a friend in WV and was planning to meet up in Boston, and do the tourist bit around NH and NY as well as the WTC.
-
I'll keep an eye out for it, but I doubt it'll be seen down south. hope you get it back in the condition the Bast@rds took it.

1986, those were the days eh :0)

You can add me to the list too David, give me a PM as I can't PM you for some reason.

Because the decision to produce the 260 model may have required a minimum of 2 years of production. Or the new NEW bike may not actually be ready yet. Who knows, were all just guessing and wishfully hoping the new one comes soon. We now know what we have for 2015 and we may well be talking about the same thing next year.

Repsol has new 2014 factory colour scheme, new Braktec monobloc front calliper, new light weight gear lever, black triple clamps and new front mudguard design.
Standard model has new decal design and new red mudguard, modified front and rear adjustable suspension, light weight gear lever, black triple clamps and a optional long ride kit.
Pics on Spanish Honda site.

Tomi's bike this year is a full on factory bike with the Mitani plastics and colour scheme, (I think he's helping with developement as Toni isn't using the new clutch anymore). He's been around for a long time now and is current Japanese champion. The bikes he rode in previous years were a Mitani RTL 300 + with just about every trick part and titanium everything. I believe he has support from Honda, HRC and his main sponsor is Mitani and it's owner Tomoaki Mitani.

That'll be the floating disc collars, I had a similar issue, took them off and put some silicone on the surface that has contact with the disc mounts, sorted. I don't really rate Braktec's quality, I think it's a bit hit and mis. It's a shame brembo don't make brake parts for trials.

Vale is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, I think were really close to seeing him at the top of the steps, maybe once or twice hopefully more and in battles just like the last one with Pedro and Jorge fighting too. I think vale's relationship with JB was at a time when they couldn't improve and vale thought it was time to try something else, which has clearly worked, for whatever reason.
The one thing I like about vale is he always comes across positively and seems to really genuinely enjoy racing. Marky boy seems to have the same fun and passion as vale and although he's dominating MotoGP, it's not like when say Doohan dominated, which was a bit boring.

BVM have Elf HTX 740 in stock, just recieved a couple of bottles. I have always used it, and never had any problems.

I didn't know that, I thought all brakes worked the same way. Surely Braktec would design a trials brake system to keep the pads close to the disc all the time.
I am surprised no one else who has a new bike with Braktec's hasn't commented, as there must be quite a few bikes with these now. All I wanted to know is, is it a fault or normal ?

Plenty left on them. They are not spongy normally, only that time when they got very wet.
