Not really, you phrased your sentence as though you were asking a question, so we both gave you a answer.

Urmmm, yes he can, unfortunately for whatever the reason was, he moved away from WTC Trials.
My guess, most likely limited sponsorship support and a living wage (as most top riders find), so moved to a sport where he can earn a good wage. I remember that time up at Hawkstone Park, when he damaged his knee. He was in so much pain, but they put a knee brace on him and he carried on, I think he had to retire in the end. Great chap and he's proving what a Top rider he is, keep going Grimbo, we're enjoying your success and the videos. ;-).

I think Kramit is high on his own two stroke smoke. ;-) But really I think it's just a post to get us 4T guy's backs up, didnt work with me. Live and let live, but you can't beat a good 4 stroke, rather have one in front of me in a que, rather than one of those dirty, smelly 2T's. :-(

Graham, I totally agree with you. My suggestion about a training video, was not suggesting that the observer in question needed it (far from that, i think he did a good job) and I'm sorry if that's how it came across (my communication skills are not brilliant).
What I mean is, if their was such a training video, it would be easy for anybody who maybe observing at an event, to just go and watch it, so they maybe better prepared, brush up on something they may have forgot, or if new to observing, learn on what to look for. Surely this would be good for the sport and it might even gain more observers, as more people may feel better informed and more confident about doing it.
I have regularly observed at the Wallace, as I did this one and I have to say generally, the riders are very good. But some do get upset, which I can understand, they are trying to do their best, to get their best result (that's not meant to be aimed at Alexz personally, that's just a general observation). However, the observer is also trying to do their best.
Thanks to all that took part, but especially to the organisers, helpers, observers and COC, for all their hard work, well done NBMCC for another great event.

Dan Thorpe's video was the best example of No stop, well done Dan.
Arm chair Observers are all very well, but being there on the spot, being the observer at the event, is another thing.
This is not in anyway, meant to be a criticism of Observers, you all do a sterlling job as far as I'm concerned and I am very grateful for you spare time you give up for us all. No its a question for the ACU, why is their not some sort of training course, or training video for observers? In this day and age, it's not rocket science, surely it wouldn't be difficult to make one and put it on YouTube, so all interested parties can view it and learn from it. It doesn't have to be a Hollywood type production, just a straight forward, simple video, showing scenarios, examples and how to mark them! I'd be happy to do it myself, with help from some good riders who would be happy to give their time, but maybe it should be done by the ACU.
Over to you guys at the ACU, don't take ages discussing it and thinking about it, just do it.

I'd say a fair price when compared with all the other marques, as far as I know, very limited supply, so a rare sight for sometime. They look like a great bike, proof in the pudding will be, once they arrive and are ridden. But as a new company, it must be very hard for them, to take this big step, in these difficult times. Good luck to JTG and Steve Saunders, hope it proves a big success.
-
Yamahamer, that's an incredible camera view. How and what did you mount it with? I have never seen a camera view like that before, makes great viewing.
-
Wow, Bou is just amazing. The other riders have got to a real challenge to get anywhere near him, going on that performance.
-
News travels through the 4RT heartland fast.

I have S3 Hardrock alloy foot pegs, which allows you to choose to either have them in the standard position, or slightly rear. They are nice and are a large foot peg, but one thing I found, they have to be made to fit the standard Montesa 4RT hangers (modified).
If you want to get hangers though, beware of Titanium ones, Pidock's told me they would invalidate the warranty, as they have had frame breakage, due to the titanium hangers not bending when hit hard, and instead, the frame mounts break. They said titanium foot pegs are fine, but not hangers.

I believe Transit is (J) and I believe he's a happy 4RT owner already?
-
Yes it does appear that way Transit, although I'm sure there are other large gatherings of the beast, in other parts of the UK.

I sincerely hope Honda don't pull out of Trials, but with the current climate, I wouldn't be surprised. If they did, it would be sad for spectators and the buyers of Montesa/Honda. I personally would prefer if they just marketed the bikes as Honda's, I know there is great history with Montesa, but Honda have there own. I think, as long as they have a sponsor to pay for the Team, then they are likely to continue and maybe Alfredo Gomez was unlucky to find that the Teams Sponsors budget has been reduced to the extent, that he was the one to loose out. I think it was not good for Montesa, to let him down at this late time, after he had already turned other offers down. But its the difficult times we live in, at the moment. I would hope, he will some way find another team, that is prepared to back him in some way or other.
As for Honda/Montesa, I look forward to seeing the new 4RT in the not too distant future. ;o)
-
Silly questIon possibly, but why does the standard filter require the flame guard, but the after market ones not? Just interested as currently, I use it with both types.
Cheers.

This seems like it could be a pretty fair compromise, although their allways the argument that someone just scrabbless out.
On another note, I would like to mention from a point of both a rider and observer, people have to remember, that most are volunteers and without observers, we don't have the same sense of enjoyment in our choosen sport. I have attended a few club trials, where you observe yourselves, it's not a great situation, but the clubs can't get the volunteers, then this is what it boils down to.
Hope our sport can sort something out, for all our sakes.

Hi Taff, I am slightly biased as I have a 2012 Montesa Repsol 4RT. I have only just returned to trials having had a 8 year lay off, but also being a club easy route rider, I think I can give my opinion on the 4RT. My last bike before I stopped riding, was a Beta Rev, which was a lovely bike, but obviously the 4RT is a more modern bike, so should be a better bike and it certainly is. When I bought my new Repsol, friends advised me on the gearing, so I got the dealer to change the gearing, with a 9 tooth sprocket on the front and a 43 on the rear. This has lowered the gearing and the bike is really nice and controllable for me, with this setup. Some say the clutch and mapping make the 4RT difficult to ride, but I haven't found this at all. I believe the 2012 model has updated mapping, I can't say whether this 100% true, but I haven't had any issue concerning either. I find the bike really nice to ride and it certainly complements my riding. I have found that I am doing things, that I would never of done, when I last rode and I am really enjoy my riding. The Repsol is a lovely bike, admittitedly, an expensive one, but another thing I like, their fairly rare, so it's nice to be riding something differrent and I like four stroke engines.
Your enjoying your GasGas, so a new Gasser maybe the one for you. The only way you can be sure is to try them, although I know that's not always possible. But if you could make it, BVM are having their yearly test day, on Thursday. I believe, most of the importers will be present, including Pidcock's. (Bear in mind though, if you have a test ride, the gearing is most likely stock, which is quite high).
To answer your question, yes I think a 4RT is suitable for a novice, although changing the gearing maybe advisable. Hope this has helped you.

Slightly off topic, but would like to reply to above quote.
My 2012 montesa 4RT Repsol, has 2011 on it. I was told it is a 2012 model bike, with all the 2012 new mods, built in 2011. I'll take the word of the official importer, doubt they would tell porkies, as trading standards would take a very dime view of it if they did.

Looking for the Repsol 4T moto off road 10W40 engine oil and finding it very elusive in the UK. Anybody found a source or a recommend alternative please.
-
My vote has to be Alpinestar, very supportive.

Congratulations to Jack Sheppard, on becoming 2011 SPEA FIM Youth World Trial Champion. Superb effort, all considering his injury, he has carried through the year.
-
Many thanks Dom, much appreciated.

As I don't currently have a bike, I wonder if anybody could do me favour. Could someone measure the height from ground to handle bar end, with bars straight and also when bars are turned full lock. I need this measurement, to see if a bike might fit in a friends small box trailer.
Cheers.

Cheers Scooby and Ralphy, much appreciate your feedback.

As a rider, I have some experience many moons ago as a novice. I have in the past, owned Montesa's and a Beta Rev, but as I consider getting back into Trials, I am considering a 4 stroke. The question I would like to know, with my experience, should I consider a 250 4T, or would a 300 4T be better. Any suggestions and experiences much appreciated.
