WOW!! Great looking trophies! Thanks Jack
-
I've never actually seen a good one. I guess they don't exist. The best I could find is an mx bike doing a trials style hop over some rocks. Go to Ebay and search "dirt bike trophy"

Sweet ideas. Thanks SectionOne.

Those pics look a bit familiar. One day changing the oil on my (then brand new) '05 280... LOTS of metal filings. A second round of oil only flushed out more metal. Then a piece of washer came out. My dealer, Jack Heminway, meticulously pulled the cases apart and investigated. Found a chewed up washer about the size of a quarter (but thinner). Nothing else was loose or missing. What's more, no washers were missing! After a lot of checking and double checking, Jack ultimately deduced that it was simply an extra washer. It could have only entered when the cases were split (at the factory). I was lucky to notice before it damaged my case. Did you find any chunks ? Can you tell what the loose piece was? PS. I too love my Gasser and have had zero problems since then. Hats off to dealer Jack Heminway too. He really went out of his way to keep me happy.

Thanks for the pics!

Welcome Marty, The major manufacturers each have bikes for the wee ones. Be sure to consider the electric Oset as well. Check the UK / YOUTH forum. Hope you are riding with the lads soon. Feet up, 327

Welcome to the LIGHTER side, Shaun. The super light bikes & slow speeds have translated into less injuries for me. As long as I keep my feet on the pegs, I can't injure my knees. But even when you get in a bind, its a simple matter to step off. Good luck with the repairs. Your strength and balance physio will be terrific for trials!

Hey Uncle Chunk!! Bummer I missed your tour back east (for the Weirdstock film festival). Gump says I missed a great ride the next day at your old trials paradise. You still riding that beatup Sherco with the custom blue plastic paint bucket fenders?

Riding wheelies thru traffic is cool?? And AGAINST traffic to boot. Dupont has tremendous skills. But he's also a tremendous idiot.

The sooner you get started at trials, the longer you can postpone the day when little critter outrides you. The Oscet is a tremendous learning tool. Quick, get your own bike. There's no time to lose!

I think they could arrange section obstacles in tight patterns with very small margins of error, but do this on say 5 foot high rocks instead of 20 feet above the ground. It could be just as difficult without being so rediculously dangerous. The FIM seems to think that 15' splatters are a necessity. I disagree and would rather watch a rider working it in technical sections. My 2 pence. Sorry for drifting off topic. Good points all. A single minder will make it riskier, as the FIM is certainly not going to lower the obstacles or make it safer. Although they could and should.

'No Inspection Allowed' sounds like fun. So long as the sections are simple and the path is fairly obvious. I imagine it teaches a rider to keep his head up and scan ahead. That one tree you missed, perhaps they should have put multiple cards on it to get your attention. The first loop must be a fun mystery. As long as there is nothing blind & potentially dangerous (like dropoffs, etc).

ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING !! Forking 3rd against the world's best lads. Just amazing!! Against the guys who will become world champs someday! How will Team Smage keep up with such a steep learning curve? If anyone's taking up a collection for Pat to go back overseas, you can count on $40 from me. GO PATRICK !!!

I agree with you Zippy. Too bad cheating is part of the game at the outdoor world level. Wouldn't it be great if they stopped moving rocks, building ramps, etc. More minders can help a rider's safety, but can also lower the score... legally and illegally. Sad really.

Interesting topic Brian. I can think of a few Americans off the top of my head: Steve Ahlers Marland Whaley Tray Batey (picture of him on a Beta here: http://www.schwantzschool.com/2005news/tray.html Tray rode the national support line a year or two ago. And no one has yet mentioned everyman's dreamgirl - the talented Debbie Evans! Hope to be ridng with you soon, GG Steve
