  1. hahahaha good luck, there hard enough to out on from new, you have to heat them up and stretch them to fit right, i wouldnt even like to try to remove them let alone try to refit them
  2. Great to see the old beast up and running and that place looks excellent
  3. Hey Lewis, its a simple job, the top end has to come of but its a very easy job, exhaust off, carb and reeds off, then its a couple of engine mounts and the main bolt through the swing arm drop the engine out, 6 bolts on the head and 4 on the barrel, slide off then unclip the old piston and rebuild simples
  4. Bet you ate them when you were hungry
  5. Its an easy job, i take the whole engine out and do it on the bench but some people like to keep the engine in the bike
  6. 100% piston slap, the piston has 3 rings and that keeps the top of the piston very stable, but the bottom of the piston when worn does move around a lot It'll still run good as the rings keep the compression but defo worth fixing, Sandifords do a complete kit for £140
  7. Here's a few from the last two weekends

    2001 315-R

Also remember that running a bike rich on oil actually makes the mixture week, more oil makes less air in the mix, by running it rich actually doesn't prevent damage is causing damage

    2001 315-R

Welcome on board buddy, good choice of bike, the 315 are usually bullet proof if looked after, my guess would be the amount of crap that was in the air filter plus never being serviced or looked after. Couple of points for a healthy 315, i've had 3 and always run Castrol 747 oil. 80-1 mix and always run high octane fuel, (super unleaded) Make sure the air filter is cleaned every few uses, there's 4 holes in the back plastics above the air box, i attach wire mesh to the inside with silicon, this stops a lot of **** getting into the air box Also if you can, ditch the standard carb and put a Keihin pwk28 on, makes the bike run so much better

    4Rt Clutch

Cheers Buddy that's a cracking reply I did a bit of investigation work tonight, drained the oil then took a peek at the clutch Found the issue The Plate that holds the 6 springs in, has been very badly fixed, it has a crack from the bolt hole all the way to the middle when its been welded its slight deformed it so that's going in the bin and i'll get a new one clutch itself looks mint but i might try those dimpled plates Thanks for the help guys

    315 Update Tips

Most knocking is the bottom of the piston slapping against the bottom of the sleeve, because they have 3 rings it holds the top of the piston but the bottom does tend to slap Sandifords do the piston and all gaskets for £140

    315 Update Tips

Carb upgrade to either the Keihin pwk 28mm or 26mm
  17. Hey Greg, no its not dead its just fueling issues due to you messing, If i was you i'd just get another carb instead of helicoiling the jets, trust me it'll never run right if you do that. I have one which i'd post for a small fee otherwise speak to Richard at Allens bike breakers in Northampton and he'll sell you a brand new pwk26 set up ready for your bike for £80, i have one and it transforms the bike
