  1. Hia, I'm in the same boat as you matey. I just got a 2008 montesa 4rt, did the crank case oil and the gear box oil, what a Twa* it was to for me being the first time ive ever worked on a 4rt. I had hassle with a number of things, firstly was the removal of the oil filter, i managed in the end and on putting new one back in the o ring was a Twa+ to put in place, Job done though. The clutch side was alot easier to do thank goodness. The last and only part i am still struggling with is replacing the bash plate. When I took it off it sprang off once I loosened the bolts on the front. Trying to put it back in place will have to be done tomorrow morning with the assistance of a mate. PS when you ever buy a bike off someone never take it for granted that it has been serviced recently. When I got the bike home I was discusted at the state of the oils and filter, it obviously hasnt been done recently. It was jet black and the oil filter was happed up to the nines with black gundge. Im ganna check the water level and air filter tomorrow, to see if there is any more supprizes in stall for me before she goes out on a welly dabbing sesh. Ah the joyz of playing with spanners and socket sets. Hope all goez well on her maiden voyage the morra

  3. Cheers for ya help fellas, going to view montesa on Wednesday. If its a lemmon am just walking away, hopefully it will be a canny bike as described in ebay listing. Another question is does this bike have matching engine and frame numbers. If there are no numbers on frame, where do I stand when making a cash on collection purchase through ebay. The last thing I want is bad feedback if I dont buy the montesa coz its not straight. I will try and get some pics on here soon, Cheers again for ya help. regards Chris Twinshock Virgin lol.
  4. Hi All I have just purchase a montesa cota 348 off fleebay and I was hoping that you guyz could help me out on a few things. Bearing in mind that this is my first trials bike purchase. Questions I require help with are: 1. What is the correct ratio of 2 stroke oil to be used and what is the best make to use? 2. Do you have to premix the 2 stroke or is it seperate and pump fed? 3. Where are the engine and frame numbers on this motorcyle? 4. How much would it be to road register and how to go about it? 5. Where can I find a manual for the bike? 6. When I go to view the bike before handing over the cash is there any tips from you what to look out for? 7. Is there anyone who I could contact who would give me some advice about where to ride the bike legally and get involved with a local trials club in Gateshead. 8. What engine oil is best? I cant believe I have just purchased this bike, I only hope it will serve me well. Maybe I should have purchased a modern bike but hey I just like the look of the old twin shock bikes and I couldnt resist bidding for this one. Any help would be greatly appreciated regards Chris
