  1. Metzler road tyres(made of blu-tac?) to be exact.
  2. The kids just hanging back ,like Dad at section 1
  3. Hi JSE, I'm a little confused about the Harley reference? Do you have a good start up procedure you could explain please. Wayne
  4. Hard to bear Wraggy, can't say I've had any experience with your latest problems, time for someone else to chime in,chin up old boy.
  5. This is what I meant by serious...
  6. Heights aren't my thing either ...I'm sure 2 of those sight-see-ers the camera man passed were wearing parachutes?
  7. Here hopefully------Torque talk
  8. I've never been a big American muscle car fan,not for me the Charger or the Mustang but I've always had a soft spot for the Challenger?? With todays exchange rate it's
  9. Sorry kev, can't answer that one,I know the 2000/01 models had a cast pedal as Zippy says, then they changed to a folding tip design from 2002. I just don't know if they are inter-changeable .
  10. If you're a beginner I wouldn't spend too much on your first trials bike (you might not take to the sport,)buy on condition rather than year. The 315s didn't change radically year on year, small tweaks, the main changes were improved suspension on the more recent models and (although some people on here tell me it was all in my mind) on 2003/04 models, more punch.
  11. Don't ask me why it's called a 315 ,I can't believe there were 314 models before it. The bike is a 250cc or near enough.
  12. I seem to remember the 06 pegs were in a queer position, like your feet were too high up.
  13. Glen, Remind me to show you mine some-time,err,kick-start that is! As you know ,re-built the engine, test-rode it,washed it , went to kick the bike over and it was locked up solid (bent the kick-start lever)??? I had left the exhaust bung in I don't fancy heating it up to straighten it ,I'm just ignoring it,you know the scenario, let's use your style of analysis:- 1) If I heat it up to straighten it I may weaken it for the future so when I'm at that remote moorland section and I go to start her up 2) If I heat it up to straighten it I may break it..you know, that last few degrees to make it perfect...CRACK! 3) I could buy a replacement lever to carry around with me as permanent ballast ,never actually needing it until ...I sell it on...bugger! Any sign of sprogg No.2?
  14. Yup, Vote Glen for President! I had thought about these points mesel but couldn't put it so clearly....Sherco also has the Xispa around the corner so I think this model is a poor response(on many levels) to the competition .

    Oh My God!

I can never tell when some folk are taking the Peepee??
  16. Hmm.not sure about the fallability of other trials bike brands but the Pro's certainly seem to be the worst for this fault. Just look at the width of the gear we are talking about, much narrower than the norm' (but that all goes toward the 'beauty' of the pro engine design) then look at the possibility that the whole width of the quadrant and gearing may/may not be fully engaged when you jab the kick-start....it's a potential problem waiting to happen (I'm avoiding saying ''design-fault'' 'cos everybody's a hind-sight design engineer these days). The more pronounced spiral that you mentioned is a great way to ensure a 'quicker' mesh-contact-area..but more importantly it shows that GasGas were aware of the problem and are looking to sort it. A little bird told me (i.e. I can't prove it ) that GasGas ,like many other engineering companies, already had a massive batch of the early 'suspect' gears sitting on the shelf so nothing would be improved until the stocks were exhausted. This little bird had 4 of these gears for 1 (new) bike.
  17. Hey Perce, Hmm, a Manta, that was a 2 door coupe or 3 door hatch.?You'd be struggling to get a ty80 in there. Anyhow ...you've been spoiled by your 4rt 'cos when I lay my bikes (Sherco ,Montesa 242,315,Gasser TXT etc) perfectly flat, the 'carb leaks,Beta style It's
  18. Here you go-------Splatshop
  19. Just out of interest, what year is your bike?

    Ebay

If this bike is what I would call a TYZ, then I can believe those prices !
  21. IMHO If your just starting off in trials world, then I would suggest you buy the best Montesa 315 you can get for your money.(2003?) You have a lot of dropping and falling ahead of you. I personally wouldn't touch an older Beta as they have been known to have corrosion issues with the crank-cases(and I won't mention the electrics..oops ..just did). As for a big cockpit area, modern trials bikes don't have a seat so ..err..you'll just have to keep it in your pants. Wayne P.S. There is so little weight on the front wheel of any modern trials bike, that, keeping it down is the problem so don't worry about the wheelie thing.
  22. Ditto, most people I ride with who have owned a Pro have had this 'idler?' gear chip a tooth and the noise it makes sounds like a bottom-end rumble/knock. It can be serious if you get the shrapnel in the clutch or gearbox.
  23. Well done that man, enjoy Fort William
