We have a dealer over here (don't know if I can mention him as he isn't a site sponsor)who sold a lot of ''2003 porting-spec'' cylinder jackets for pre 2003 bikes.
I'm not the worlds best test rider but I tried a couple of 2003 315s and they had a very clean pick up and were free reving compared to any previous 315s I tried.
I'm sure the only difference between the 2003 and 2004 models were the plastics but these bikes were the finest 315s. IMHO

A hard one to diagnose on the internet but from what I recall:-
If it's a rattle-knock it's the top end.
If it's a rumble-knock it's the bottom end.
Tricky!
I remember trying a carb' kit from Sandifords with a new slide ( with a different cut off angle) to try and cure the knock but it caused more problems than it cured.

-
My 98 used to knock when I rolled off the throttle, until I started using super-unleaded fuel.
-
I've thought about doing this before ...but then I remembered how I drag my bike across rocks so I didn't think any further

Nooooo......the Shercos have the button washer and spline-shaft bolt....I thought the newer Betas had the slotted kick-start lever arrangement??
-
02 seemed to have a heavier front end and tracked very well...01 was a bit lighter at the front therefore didn't track as well but was easier to lift..so it's horses for courses.
I wasn't aware of the other changes listed until 03 when the porting and piston? were changed and this made the bike more frisky.
By the time I had realized how good the 03 changes were I couldn't buy one for love or money.

Is his the decisive question/answer.....................The water -flap-valve-doo-dahh....do you leave it?????? or seal it??????
-
I'll answer for dan as I guess he's asleep at the moment in the U S A.
The female-spline part of the kick-start lever has a slot through it so when you tighten the bolt it clamps around the spline-shaft.
File or hacksaw this slot so it's a little bit wider and you should get more clamping force when you tighten the bolt.
I can't remember which bike I did this on but it has worked for me in the past

Hovis are you laughing at your own (**** poor)joke?
There's a name for un-helpful internet replies like yours.............................Troll, I think?
-
It's the initials of my kids and dog (at the time).
My eldest daughter thought of it 'cos I lost my rag when I tried to ''enroll'' using a trials related name (all you buggers out there nabbed the good names 1st)

This is what I do ,dunno' if it's correct but... after I've washed the bike I sit it on a crate so the front wheel is off the ground and leave it for a while ( I've only used it three times this year so it has been a while)
Next time I return to my bike I crack open the blue caps and let the air out..sounds like I've opened a can of coke..re-tighten caps and Robert is very much your mothers brother

Trials tyres grip well on rock surfaces and they don't foul the swing arm..but I know what you mean about prices!

I'm too old for cars to float-my-boat now..but (when I win the lottery) this one gets my attention--2 funny Japs
I'm sure I can hear one of them say ''These night-vision goggles are the cat's ass''
Look at the follow-on links for a more technical reviews, there's a few.
Update: looks like this video has been removed!

Well done Gordon...but, as with all award winners, we are all expecting some sort of speech ??!!

pindie,
I don't own a Pro but I know there is a cam like adjuster for fine-tuning the gear selector mechanism.
I think it sits just underneath the clutch and you don't have to take the motor out of the frame to fettle it.
Do a search on this topic and hope that someone with a lot more detail than me can reply in the meantime
Just twigged..you may get better results in the Gas Gas section of these forums.

I think the silencer is packed with stainless wire-wool so you can get some good results by burning it out.
Personally this method didn't work for me but swilling with petrol for a week or so did??
The more worrying thing is that the silencer reached such a high temperature while the bike was operating !!
I'm told if your timing is retarded too much then the exhaust runs very hot, distorting the rear mud-guard (if you've removed the baco-foil).
Some people can even tell where your timing is at by looking at the dis-colouration of the front pipe.

Jeez, you must have some hard sections in your part of the world

I've posted this before:-
I had an Iris chain...once!...it snapped and whipped my boot, sawed my flywheel-cover and clutch slave-cylinder.
The most painful, expensive chain I've ever had (if you catch my drift)
-
As my mother might have said:- ''..and have you cleaned under your swing-arm''??!!
-
^^What he said^^
It was the only thing that worked for me

I'm bored and trawling again------
