I guess so.... But then what would I know?

Check the pistons, one of mine seized, had the same problem.

The reverse method is the easiest IMHO. Just get a syringe, hose that will fit the syringe and the bleed nipple on the caliper and brake fluid. Put the hose over the syringe. Remove the resi cap on the back brake, or if its the front, remove the top of the box by the lever, you may need to lift the lever round the bar to make the resi as straight and level as possible.
Now fill the syringe with fluid and try to get all the air out by squeezing the syringe whilst its upside down (like the docters do when you get a jab). This is the messy bit so I'd cover the best part of the caliper with rags etc. Put the end of the syringe on the nipple, try not to get air in. You can stop air getting in by applying light pressure to the syringe so fluid seeps out the hose. Once on, just open the nipple 1/4 of a turn whilst still applying light pressure on the syringe. The syringe will start to compress really easily. Just kep going till the resi is full of clean oil, then lock of the nipple and put the resi cap on. Done!

Agree with TFT, doing it the traditonal way is pants.

I've been avoiding this one as I suspected it would turn in to a 'TYZ's better than an SY" type topic.... And it has! I have owned both bikes and the only thing they share is the engine. Plain and simple. They have nothing in common other than that. Steveo's coment's about the Scorpa's are spot on, I totally agree with him. As for the TYZ? Well, its got be one of the better bikes for starting out on, and if they are so crap, then why are they still going for

Ditch the champion plug, go for an NGK BKR6EVX. Had one in for well over a year and not needed to change it yet. You won't need to change the jetting. Suspension is up to you but you don't relly need to do anything. I upped the preload on the rear, only because I'm a fat git and the bash plate kept bottoming out. If you look at the front of the rear mudguard you will see a small hole near the forward mudgaurd bolt, stick a lond screwdriver in the hole to tweak the rear rebound.
I spoke to James as Scorpa UK about the SSDT (see you there?), he told me you don't really need to do much other than give the bike a good service. Give them a call, really helpful. I buy all my spares from them, they arrive next day, which is pretty good going when you consider I live in the north of Scotland!

Never needed to adjust mine in 2 and a ahlf years of owning and riding it. Have you got too much travel? Give us some more infomation.

Get this web site up and running asap mate, it's a cracker! I totally agree with you! Those twats that drive their bloody front fogs on really do my head in too! I put full beam on to p*** them off!

Break the law? As the bikes have no speedo, an illegal number plate and in the case of the 4T's I suspect the exhaust may be illegal, in fact even some 2T's maybe illegal too so lets face it, the tyres, might be illegal too! But as someone said earlier, the bikes get round the roads of Ft William during the SSDT with no police problems.

Totally understand what you're saying G5 but, and in particuliar as I'm going to be a 'first timer' this year, what happens if someone makes a genuine mistake and gets a wee bit lost? Not jus at Laggon but anywhere?

Note to self; must pay attention when at school!

Bigfoot
The Inter route adopted by BAMCC is a fantastic idea and I can see that it makes a great stepping stone for riders going up and coming down from the Expert ranks. Keep up the good work!
-
I can think of loads of ringers that ride with both the clubs I'm a member of. How sad, the only way to get kicks is by beating a load of novice riders in their hunt for a cup!
-
No he's not, but I am!!
Kinell, you're a fat a***!
(Awaits the response.....)

Might be a controversial view, and its not my intention to offend...... But, I think it would be unfair to allow downgrade Experts and Non Experts to take part on an 'award' basis. I can appreciate that you are riding as an ' Over 40' but it would make more sense, IMHO, to cater for said riders and include a Over 40's class.

I have the parts manual for the TY350 on cd rom. Its the same as a 250 apart from the top end etc. PM or email me if you want a copy.
-
An MOT is needed for a bike over three years old, so don't woory about it on an '04 bike mate! Give me a call sometime Moose, I can help you on this one!
-
I think the Inverness club are planning to hold a trial at Cannich on the 13th. Its a bit of a trek from Edinburgh, about 3 to 4 hours drive but if you can make it up then I might be able to get a bike for you. Big John should be able to help you out with riding with the club for just one day maybe? Its your call, you could try and persuade Andy to do a 'Trials Central Photo Feature'!
If you wanted to come up on the Saturday then I could probobly sort you out with a bed too. Might involve beer drinking though!

Just wondering where I can get a pair of the neoprene fork gaiters?
-
Here! Seems a bit steep though?
-
Yes.
Marky G, I got a bit of ally welded to my sump plate, I don't think its an over kill. There are pics kicking about on the Scorpa forum.
-
Mark, have you fitted any kind of water pump guard? I can't stress how important it is mate!
-
I just want to to make it to the end! There's nothing like making up the numbers for the RAFMSA!
As for the names thing, I could have listed all their real names but perhaps those individuals would prefer to not to have their real names plastered across the web for all to see.

Just wondering if anybody knows the part number of the head bearings for an SY?
