JUST TO LET YOU KNOW I GOT THE NEW BLUE COIL, EVENTYUALY, AND IT SEEMS TO HAVE CURED THE REVERSE STARTING, HASN'T ONCE DONE IT SINCE FITTED. ALSO IT STARTS MUCH BETTER HOT. SO THANKS TO THOSE WHO ADVISED, ALL IS WELL AGAIN.
-
Well thats most interesting as I do indeed have a black coil & have just ordered a blue one because I thought the current one might be causing starting problems mentioned elsewhere in the forum. As yet it hasn't arrived in Oz after 3 weeks in the post, how slow is that? But now it seems I may kill two birds with one coil. Thanks once again to all you forum people who take the time to reply & share such valuable knowledge, How we managed before I don't know. Come on postman deliver my coil.

Still having the starting in reverse problem.Solutions provided were not conclusive as to what I can do to prevent it. Any more ideas please?
-
Thanks for the quick reply guys. Will give that a try. Surprised that if it is the coil it ran so well when it got going?

Just ridden first big trial on the 200 & it performed very well however I had lots of trouble starting it once hot & it had stood for a few minutes. I run standard heat range plug & tried a couple of new ones including an iridium plug but still the same. Once started it ran fine. Have an OKO carby but it did the same on the Delorto.( The little short prod kick start doesnt help). Starts 2nd. kick from cold on choke & first kick when warm but when hot the problem occurs.Otherwise just great to ride & apart from a dumb 5 would have finnished 2nd to the current champ.

Just had a scary moment when the bike stalled rolled back & started in reverse, great way to get into bother as if there arent enough ways! Has once done so when kick starting a bit half hearted. Any way I seem to remembre there is a cure so can you help or do I live dangerously? Also Classic Trial supplied me a flat slide carby & it works a treat, very pleased with that little mod.just thought I would throw that in for those not sure of its worth.

Ok will give that a go. Then try some new springs if needed. Thanks

I have fitted a set of new clutch plates but still get slip in the higher gears, 4th, 5th ,6th.Do not feel any slip in lower gears. There is free play at the lever & the action is light & smooth.Any thoughts? Also my rear brake plate broke at the swing arm location pin, is this a weak point or I am unlucky? My wonderful machinist friend made me a new one.
-
I had that thought as well about the brake , as I have a stiff right ankle it might be a help.Does the kick start get a bit more swing also? Rear start on mine. Thanks for the thoughts.

Have read so many views on this subject that is moving the foot pegs down & back. To me it makes sense lower centre of gravity etc. So what do you think? I already have modern size pegs, a great improvement. If so how much down & how far back?
-
Any body tried YSS ? they are used a lot here in oz, expensive but are they worth the extra?
-
Thanks guys i feel much better as it is now I am used to it, but you can get used to all kinds of stuff good & bad.
-
What are the thoughts on handle bar height for this bike.I have 5 inch rise , it feels to be a stooped riding position. I am 5ft 9inch. Pegs are pretty much standard position but nice & wide, what a difference that makes.
-
Can anyone tell me how to lighten the clutch using a chain link, have seen it mentioned but not how its done.
-
Thats what I have on mine but I feel a bit lower would be better & will give a very nice 2nd gear as well, would like to give it a try & see how it works in practice.

Hi Pete look forward to meeting you in May & bring all your mates. Cheers Clive

Hi everyone I have been riding Trials in Australia since my wife & I emigrated here in 1973.Still love it & now starting in the Twin Shock category which is attracting quite a following.Looked for a Fantic 200 for a long time & now have a beauty. After riding Beta for the last 10 years its very different stepping back in time 30 years. But I amazed how well this mighty Fantic does perform.I have joined the Forum to pick brains & find out how best to set up the bike. Already in contact with Chris at Classic Trials. We have a World Trials round in Victoria where we live (Australia) this year , the first time in Oz so thats exciting & a lot of work. Anyone coming over please make contact. Its a great site & we hope we can make it a great Trial.Be pleased to hear from the Fantic brigade on mods etc.Looking forward to being part of this terrific site.

Thanks guys will follow up. What gearing is reckoned to be the best? In Australia it is lots of tight stuff & grippy rock in general.

Can anyone help with 10 tooth 428 gear sprocket for rear kick Fantic 200? Where to buy?
