  1. Im not any kind of expert by a long shot but always have an opinion anyway and in most cases have experience to back it up. With that being said I have run straight avgas in my Betas since 2000. People say to mix it with pump gas but I dont. I find the bike runs best on straight avgas. My 01 Beta is still in the area I ride and even though a few of the owners that have had it since me beat the tar out of it she still runs fine. The lead wont hurt the bike, as mentioned before it is a lubricant. On top of that avgas is a higher grade more refined fuel than pump gas. Splash some on your hand and it dries immediatly with no oily residue. Oil as we know does not contribute to horsepower. At $4 US it remains my fuel of choice. Although it is not legal for your local airport to sell it to you for your bike, some new FAA rule, if they ask what it is for you have just gotten into the wonderfull world of Ultralites. If your concious has a problem with that there is always Ultra 94 at your local Sunoco. Aaron

    Ty 250 Flywheel

After this weekend, first vintage event of the season, Im the organizer, I will have some time to post some pictures and maybe know how the bike works. Thanks for the interest. Aaron
  3. Beta USA offers the conversion kit. I know of two people around my area that have converted. They seem happy. Before you change anything make sure your bike has a fast throttle. It makes a big difference. Aaron

    Ty 250 Flywheel

Thanks Jim. I may just have to buy that from you. The frame is a complete home built. All cromeolly or however you spell it. Been watching to many of those bike building shows. If I had a clue how to post pictures I would. Aaron

    Need A Bike

Hey Ringo, Did you find a bike yet?

    Ty 250 Flywheel

The bike is a "built from scratch", perimeter frame, modern geometery, twin shock. We just happen to be using a 75 ty motor that was laying around. Looks like the flywheel might be off a motocrosser. We have the motor running fine but have not ridder the bike yet. Still building a tank. The only reason for thinking we need the right flywheel is people that claim to know what they are talking about say it will stall to easy for trials applications. It will get ridden with what we have first but competition starts soon and the bike needs to be ready. Aaron

    Ty 250 Flywheel

Rebuilding a TY 250 and have found that it has the wrong flywheel. It is way light. I was going to machine a weight to press on but I need to know about how much more weight I need to add. If anyone knows what the stock flywheel should weigh or has a stock one to get rid of I would like to know. Thanks Aaron

    Beta Rear Shock

Once again, sorry this took so long but things are up and running now. A rebuilt Beta shock.... seals, oil, nitrogen, all new. Piston trued to specs better than factory. Finished product will be better than new is what I am told. Unfortunatly, price is $100 over what was planned right now. For now price will be around $275 complete. Still a lot better than the alternative but not as good as we thought we could do. As a comparison a showa is less than half for the same service. Yes, they break to. Aaron

  12. I rode them on the 05 Shercos at the BRX open house. I also rode the standard peges on the new Shercos. I will stick to the Beta with Jpegs. I think the bigger foot platform and the backset are more of a help than the pivot. The pivot pegs made me feel like my ankles were week. If you have ever ridden when ice clogs in your pegs the feeling is similar except your foot wont slide it just seems like it. On the other hand, as many people that tried them that day, we were split down the middle as to like or not. Aaron

    Beta Rear Shock

I dont know if this is to late but I believe we have a shop to rebuild those shocks now. We have 3 that will be going out soon and if this works out we can have them rebuilt for a fraction of the cost. We are promised a shock better than new. If anyone is interested let me know. Aaron

Ringo, Call Dwain at BRX. I was there this weekend. He has over 50 used bikes in stock ready to ride. There were at least 2 mid 90's betas sitting there and both are good bikes. Back To Beta

There is still over a foot of snow at my house Stu. Trials bikes are good but they dont go to well in that. We have also just spent several weeks well below freezing. Got The Motorama in late February. First event of the year. Looks like someone is wanting my 04 at that event. It will be my first sad parting with a trials bike. Aaron

    Back To Beta

The 04 Rev is without a doubt the best bike I have ever ridden. I think you will be very happy. I have had my 05 since November and it still just sits in the garage. I have not even started to set it up. Im sure it is as great bike but I still have my 04 and I hate to give it up. Aaron
  20. National senior class starts at 30.
  21. I think senior classes start at 35. This is at least true for Expert. I say this only because some of the guys that ride with me in NY ride SExpert in PA and I cant quite yet. Right at the moment I have not heard of Ray coming. He is in Arizona right now. Look forward to seeing you all. Aaron

    Swingarm

Not saying anyone has a bad idea here but you are making more out of the problem than need be. I would not weld anything. Drill , tap , put a threaded sleve in it and a new bolt and then keep your axle tight. Problem will be solved with very little expense and time. I only say this because I have been through this. I never had a problem after this and that bike is now on to its third owner. Aaron

    Swingarm

ITs actually a pretty simple fix. I did one side of my 03. Was in the middle of a hillclimb section when I heard a loud bang and my bike was stopped immediatly. Still dont know to this day what happened but the snail pin was damaged just like you are talking. I took off the swing arm and the bent bolt, put it in a drill press and drilled it out to a SAE, thats what I had, pinned insert. I am not sure what the exact name of them are but they are like a helicoil but yet different. They are a threaded insert with 2 pins machined into the outside. You drill and tap the proper size hole and threat the insert in. When it is in properly you tap the 2 pins in and that locks the insert. The insert is threaded on the inside for a bolt. Get the proper size bolt and some loc tite and you are back in business. I know that does not sound simple but it is. If I just left you with more questions than answers let me know. Aaron
  24. There has to be a bike shop in Hong Kong. As long as you supply the parts they can do the work. All 2 strokes are pretty much the same internally. If you have never split cases before and have no other help take it to a shop. There is more involved in the proper assembly than a few wrenches and a screwdriver. Aaron

    Beta Rev3

They have been about the same for the whole run of the REVS. About $100 US for the rear about half that for a front. Also depends a little on the dealer. Aaron
