    Squeaky Brakes

If this occured after you cleaned the pads, you weren't thorough enough, use sand paper and brake cleaner as stated before. If the black stuff keeps coming off, the pads may be saturated with brake fluid. I would dump them and get some new ones, and in the future be more carefull with the brake fluid.

My Montesa dealer advised me to use the CR5EH-9 plug in colder conditions, at temps below 10°C, quite the opposite of what you where riding in. John may have had his reasons for his suggestion, but logic would rather dictate to go the other way. Just my two cents, I could be wrong.
  3. Why did you have to use 2nd gear on the Monty and 1st on the Gasser? Maybe the gearing isn't right?

    Squeaky Brakes

They are glazed when there is a hard shiny layer on the pads. You will notice the difference once you remove the glaze. Did you take the pads out of the caliper when you used the power washer??? If not, take the pads out and clean them with sandpaper on a flat surface or a wire brush and degrease them with brake cleaner instead of water.
  5. You shouldn't hope, you should know if it's right or wrong Make sure there's some play between the master cylinder plunger and the lever when released.

Doesn't the race kit have such an "open airbox cover"? Mine does anyway. The throttle body has 3 sensors: Intake air temperature sensor, Throttle position sensor and manifold vacuum sensor. If you like something to read, this explains the Honda PGM-FI (electronic fuel injection) system for small motorcycles : http://montesa4rt.nl/data/information_honda-pgmfi.pdf I know this guy made the inside diameter of the throttle body lager but I think it was only done to gain power, not to adjust for hot dry air at high altitudes, considering he lives in Holland Lot's of tuning stuff on his site: http://montesa4rt.nl/ I suppose you've thought of this also: In order to activate the competion mapping there must be made a small modification to the wire-harness if the lights stay on the bike. If the lighting is removed which is mostly the case, the electrical restriction will be automatically removed.
  7. I guess the rear rim looks like an Morad Akront Style High Shouldered type. If I'm right it was a common replacement in those days.
  8. I think I might split the engine of my 159 this winter too, and replace all the bearing and seals, big and small end bearing and piston if necessary. Something to look forward to.
  9. I doubt it, for that you need variable ignition timing and I don't think these simple electronic ignitions have that.
  10. http://www.jimsandiford.co.uk/montesa-cota-315-chrome-front-pipe-18320-nn3-740-1634-p.asp I couldn't find an original muffler but this will give you an idea: http://www.jbanyeres.com/en/escape/95-a.html If you download a parts list for the 315R you can order parts at any Honda dealer if you give them the part number
  11. I'm very hesitant in giving advice on such a short description and only one picture from afar. Check all the bearings for play or rough movement: wheels, headset swing arm and dog bones/ link system. Replacing almost the entire exhaust system is going to be a (very) costly affair I'm afraid. Make sure it has no leaks: water, gearbox, front suspension... Get the engine in operating temperature and check for rattles from the engine and smooth clutch action etc... If they are well maintained and not mistreated, 315R's are solid bikes.
  12. .I've just sold my 2012 280 Racing. I hope the buyer has more luck, but it leaves a bad taste...
  13. Nothing tacky about Bou almost taking a nose dive in the water near the end of the video . Just try to enjoy it and if you can't stand it, take your bike for a strol in the woods to take your mind off of it
  14. It also lessens the unsprung mass.
  15. Yeah, but some are so boooring, you hardly notice them
  16. theybf, this is not to annoy you or anything and Andy, I have no clue about the numbers, and this may no be the kind of trial you guys like, but spectators they are. Enjoy : this is my awkward kind of way to apologise for the pedantic reactions.
  17. Great initiative. Been to Greece in the past, perfect trial country and the nicest people.

    2015 Scorpa Range

Video of the new Twenty. They mention among other things it's got Sherco technology...
  19. Here you can see my 4RT with the previous version of the seat (an expensive original montesa part), it came with the bike when I bought it second hand. http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/garage/vehicle/792-montesa-cota-4rt/?tab=images It makes it a bit like the GasGas Randonee or Ossa Explorer. Very handy if you're a bit older and like to take longer trips in the mountains. It holds about 2 liters of fuel. I think (haven't tried it yet as I haven't got my new 2015 yet) both versions will fit all 4rt's as they both seem to use the rear mudguard bolts for fastening it to the bike.

  22. Here they are, specially made in the flashy early nineties Kroo colors:
  23. I exaggerated nothing, I was merely quoting the official numbers. If they are incorrect so be it. "Get over it". And in the pedantics competition, it's a draw. And now
