  1. Have you thought of reducing the gear ratio on your final drive? For instance 9 or 10 teeth at the front in stead of 11 and 44 teeth on the rear in stead of say 41 or 42? And learn to mostly control your speed with the rear brake, instead of the clutch, at very slow sections, in other words learn to be sensitive with your right foot. Something else that might interest you: I've adjusted the idle speed on my 4RT reasonably high, at about 1100 to 1200 rpm and I can put the front wheel against a tree with the bike in first gear and it won't stall. (this is of course without my weight on the bike) Although the idle speed is reasonable high, I can ride very slow only using my rear brake... (this also reduces engine braking as feared by most 2-stroke fanatics
  2. Does everybody now understands why 4RT's are so loud !?
  3. There used to be 4 restrictors in the 250 4RT: One where the exhaust meets the cylinder head, one between the front pipe and rear exhaust damper, one in the end of the exhaust and one in the intake, between the throttle body and cylinder head. There also used to be an electronic restrictor but I don't remember exactly how one has to "bypass" that one. It had something to do withe a green/white wire... Mind you, this was all on the 250cc model, don't know what they did to the new 260...

    2014 Scorpa

There isn't even any mentioning of the new model on their website... Strange... http://www.scorpa.fr/index.php
  7. What about an educated guess? Better? :-)
  8. This is normal. Did a small search for you: http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/49882-brake-disc-movement/?hl=%2Bfloating+%2Bdisc#entry359517
  9. I understand your point all to well. I've just tested thermostatic switch on my 2012 GasGas and its faulty. This shouldn't happen on a 2 year old bike.
  10. As most will probably know, Hope has produced some parts for Jason Finn's trial bike in the past...
  11. Some may find it hard to believe, but there are still people around who do things, not only because it makes a lot of money or only makes sense in a business way, but out of passion for the sport or the love of fabricating stuff. Why else would we be riding these silly little motorbikes with no seat?
  12. Good craftsmanship is in the details, or how does one say that in English...
  13. At least give them credit for trying. Wouldn't you like it when, for instance, Triumph made an attempt at making a trials bike?
  14. A new brand? Again? O well... Like I say to couples who are thinking of having children: Why would you want to do that? Everybody's already here... I've got the impression that Trial is on the up. Our club has a record number of members and there seem to be more people at practice too. Let's hope TRS makes some nice bikes...
  15. Fork must be extended when fitting top cap.
  16. Been practicing at our lokal trial club grounds, GasGas rode wonderful until coolant came out of the radiator cap hose. Than I noticed the fan didn't work. Damn, back to the van, removed the fuel tank, checked the connectors and now the fan won't stop running when the engine's on. Oh bugger, knowing my luck probably a broken relais or temp. switch

    199A Finished

Nice looking bike, like the colors too. What's the black box in front of the handlebars? Speedo?

    4Rt Wont Start !

Thanks... I understand and respect that your experience has led to that starting procedure. But my '08 4RT runs fine, even when you blip the throttle while warming up. I expect from a high tech fuel injection system that it runs without any tricks applied, given the fact that everything else is in working order (no clogged fuel or air filters, a good ignition spark, good compression etc.) Just out of interest, have you ever checked/cleaned your fuel filters?

    4Rt Wont Start !

Why not? I think there's something wrong with your bike if you have to wait so long to touch the throttle. As the manual says: gently warm the engine up by blipping the throttle. Nothing wrong with that.

    4Rt Wont Start !

Did you 'reset' the throttle? Is the first thing that springs to mind. One or two slow kicks with the throttle wide open, than start it as normal with the throttle closed...
  21. And when are you going to sell your 250 and buy a 125? Just kidding! I believe you, but that's not my point. I just don't like it when some people try to make others feel guilty for not buying a 250. I know you all just want to give good advice, but not everybody is the same
  22. On the other hand, these days there are plenty of ways to make a 280 or even a 300 behave like you want it to. I'm just reacting because if I let you guys carry on, soon we all have to buy 50cc's or feel the wrath... I weigh 94kg and a like the bottom end power of my 280 when I'm creeping up a steep hill... And didn't the medieval Chinese already know that the powel contlol is in the light wlist
  23. I put a piece of cardboard between the rear wheel and the swing arm, attach it with a clothespin to the chain guard, so when I spray (between the chain tensioner and the rear sprocket), it hits the card bord and nothing else...
  24. If you catch a bike from your mate, and he gets hurt enough so he can't ride it anymore, you get to keep the bike, so I'm told...
