I'm also wondering when he's back in business...
-
-
I think he's flying way to lean

Nice! Is that soda vapor blasting? Very clean.

On a hot summer day, on a mountain road, with plenty of throttle, even a trial bike will get hot.
You don't need to be a pro trials rider to load an engine.
And as I mentioned before, my 1988 BMW touring motorcycle with only 50 horse power, by no means a sport bike, had blue pipes as most BMW boxers, when you rode it a bit faster on the highway.
By the way, the spark plugs on both bikes always have a normal color, no indication of a lean burning engine whatsoever.

They look exactly like the AllBalls seal kit that I have.
Could you give us the dimensions that are on the seals?
And where did you buy them?

This weekend, 24 and 25 august, one of the, if not the best trial in Flanders.
Location Egem-Pittem, 25km south of Brugge.
World Cup rider Dec Bullock will also take part... Nice!

DOH! Your correct, it's for a SX 65, my bad :-)
And if you use the original Bultaco dust seals, you only need one oil seal a side of course
-
I've got a Pyramide oil and dust seal kit but I don't know the part number anymore. I'll try to find it later.
Anyway, only the oil seal has the right dimensions (35-47-7) and it looks like a standard double oil seal (spring loaded oil lip and a small dust lip)
The dust seal in this kit has got the wrong outer diameter, 50mm.
I also ordered a AllBalls seal kit (part n° 56-143). Any (MX) shop should be able to order these, they are normally used in KTM 80cc bikes.
The oil seal (35-47-10) has got two spring loaded seal lips, the bottom one has got even two lips.
The (spring loaded) dust seal (35-47,4-4,6/14) should fit (altough outer dia. is 0,4mm to large) but I'm afraid it does not go deep enough (4,6mm) in the fork to stay in place
Maybe it will stay in place when I cut of the edge so it will sit deeper in the fork.
I will know more when I fit the seals but I first have to order new fork springs before I get around to that...

You may have to search a bit but most bearing sizes are there:
(Be advised: I don't know if some Bultaco bearings have more play than standard, for instance C3,)

Which of these two would you recommend?

Man I wish I had such a training facility near my home ;-) You lucky bas...

-
You can do that after 1 day??? You must have ridden off-road bikes before.
-
If you can get to it with an angle grinder, just cut in in two but be careful not to damage the shaft.
-
It would have to have fuel injection, of course

Would anybody go back to a 2-stroke if Montesa made one? I think I would...fond memories of my 315R

It's normal that you have to pay for these kind of pallets (known here as Euro-pallets).
there is a deposit on them, so they get used more than once... Bad luck
-
It's got nothing to do with to lean jetting, I just did a 4-day trial with lots of road between the sections and the titanium pipe on my 4rt, that was already a bit blue, got a lot more color to it.
This was only because I rode longer and faster than normal, so the engine got a bit hotter.
They use titanium because they can make the walls of the pipes thinner to save weight.
Thinner pipes overheat easyer and as a result get blue when you ride your bike a bit hard, that's all.
Or do you think the "jetting" on my fuel-injection suddenly got leaner!? I don't think so.
I know you only try to be on the safe side, but when the only thing you have changed on your bike is the front exhaust pipe, there is no reason to panic.
This is a brand new titanium pipe (the blue is from heating the pipe to bend it):
Here's a other one:

featuring Belgian talent Maxime WARENGHIEN, currently 7th in the FIM JUNIOR TRIAL WORLD CUP...Nice!
