The build quality is reasonable. It will damage the graphics on the rear fender a bit.
The ride is not to bad for the 20km I've driven it.

A tip I got from my Montesa dealer: When it's under 10°C outside, use the NGK CR5EH-9 sparkplug insted of the CR6EH-9.

This is my perfect small van, a VW Transporter 1.9 TDI (short wheelbase). Running costs are ok, and it fits in most car parking spaces. I have no other car.

Every Alpinestars owner i spoke told me it was the best boot they ever had, so I bought me a pair of Alpine's to.
Will let you know how they stand the test of time in a couple of years ;-)
-
Just got a new pair Alpinestars and they are a tight fit and don't feel very flexible. To break them in, I wear them as much as possible in da house. After a couple of hours they already are more flexible and start to fit better.
I had the intention of wearing them to mow the lawn, so they would be broken-in sooner, but I'm affraid what the neighbors might think :-D
-
I clean my boots with water a mild (hand)soap and a brush. Sometimes I use special leather soap, this is better for the leather and keeps it softer.
-
Just folow the instructions in the manual and it will be allright. That's what I did and my cota runs like a Swiss clock ;-)

Boots have to fit almost perfect when you buy them. Leather do's not strech or maybe a very little bit. Leather boots do get a bit more flexible as you wear them.
So all this soaking in water or heating them in an oven (!?) schould not be necessary .
Just wear them, clean them when they are dirty and treat them with leather grease or oil when they need it. thats all.

I've had my Gearne's for about 10 years now and I'm very pleased with them. they fit my wide feet very well. The soles are very grippy on and off the bike.
They were only waterproof for the first 2 or 3 years if I recal correctly. The soles only wear mildly on the place where they touch the pegs. The rest of the sole is like new.
In last weeks (very:-) muddy trial in Luxemburg, my feet got realy wet. I noticed a cut in the upper part of the footbed. So I'm looking out for a new pair trial boots.
I'm considering bying Gearne's again or, if anyone can convince me, maybe Alpinestars but they have to be wide enough to fit my feet.
Any suggestion is welcome :-)

My 4rt came whit a long ride seat/tank unit. However it did not came whit the front quick release mounting bracket.
Does anywone have a picture of the mounting bracket so I can make one myself?

When you make a hook so you can pull the middle restrictor out the damper, the cylindrical seal will also come out without damaging it.
-
Thanks Fellonmelug, that's exactly what I was looking for!

Hi
It seems that the 4RT has a 3-way restriction to meet the European noise regulations.
One in the intake between the trottle body and the cilinderhead, see yellow dot on bootom picture: My link
There are also 2 ristrictions in the header exhaust pipe.
The abbove ristrictions are easy to remove but i've read somewhere that there is also an electronic restriction/bypass.
Is there somebody that knows how to "remove" the electronic restriction?
I hope I can enjoy the full power of my 4RT soon

Hi everybody!
When I was 16 years old I was a big fan of Eddy Lejeune, the 3 times world champion from Belgium, and immitated him on my converted moped (Puch Cobra)
At 35 I finaly had my first real trial machine. A 3year old Montesa Cota 315R. And now, after 11 years of fun whit the 315R I've purchased a 2008 Montesa Cota 4RT.
I hope it's as reliable as the 315R and give's me as much fun.
See ya
(Forgive me for my poor english ;-)
