Then get rid of the 300 Gas Gas built for world round sections and world class riders and buy a bike you can handle.
Sorry to be harsh but you shouldn't be on the bike until you have mastered, as you put it "the basic stuff like finding grip."
-
Interesting topic. I would have thought that your problem is mental attitude rather than a physical one. Ok I know you were a little tierd on the last lap but if the trial only took a soft dab off you on the firstl lap and then got easier I suspect it was not too punishing physically.
Often when sections are easy that's when you lose those silly marks through lack of concentration. I'd love to tell you how to improve in this area but If I knew that I'd have won many more Trials myself.
Still do all the above with regards to keeping your fluids up etc.. but try and find some mental technique that works for you.
On the matter of physical fatigue - I used to practice at Mick Andrews a fair bit and Mick would always come out for a bit of a play and often impart some tips and advise which was always very welcome. It was normally late in the day when I was tired before Mick would come out and I once complained that I was too tired and would call it a day. He told me that whilst you are tired you really need good technique and by training whilst tired you will develop better technique!

Jay,
Nice work, I've been silently watching your progress on this thread. Well done for working through all the little problems and getting the bike finished.
I particularly like the Mecatecno tribute paint job!
This could start a whole collection of Hodaka tribute bikes. How about a Betadaka the first Ali framed Beta that Tarres rode as a Prototype in 1989, or Aprilidaka to pay respect to the '92 WTC winning bike of Tommy Avalha. Perphaps even some classics like GOV132 - Er perhaps not, I think I'd better stop now!!
-
Sorry Guys but I have to disagree, I think it looks awfull. Was it specially designed for that bike or is it something you've modded yourself?
I am sure looks aren't the main concern however and the extra fuel load will be very usefull.
-
Well the latest news is - no news!
I have been busy on Ebay this week trying to raise funds just to pay for the bike. If there's any money spare then work will start. I am going to split the engine and do neccessary repairs but I don't want to start until I have enough money for the engine. At minimum that will be bearings, seals, gaskets and ali welding.
Unfortunately I have family commitments and with bills going up my bikes are the first thing to cut back on.

There is a place in the UK called Central Wheel who are very good.
They have a website click here

Hi David,
No I don't think he would know the significance of that phrase this time! There are not too many people on here that know me from my riding days, I haven't ridden since 98 ! Crickey that's 10 Years!!!!
AtomAnt - I am pleased about the price so far and you are right, I suppose you just need a couple of buyers who really want it at that time. Just made me wonder why, close ratio box perhaps?
-
Like the design, nice work.
One question though, why the genitals?
-
Looking at the No 55 it just occured to me that it could be easily incorporated into a bike and rider graphic. Using the rounded bits of the 5's for wheels, the top bit of 5 could be handlebars.
Something along the lines of the Orange County Choppers logo on american chopper.
Just wish I was skilled enough to draw it for you!! - just thinking out loud.

Hi all,
I needed to clear a little space and raise a few quid (impulse buy of a Bultaco!!) so listed my dismantled C15 SS engine on good ole Ebay. Based on a couple of other C15 engines (one made

Jaan your English is fine, I have a lot of admiration for anyone who can speak and write a foreign language.
What bike are your rims from? Are you planing on rebuilding the wheels yourself? If there is anything you need help or advise with ask away.
-
Just what I needed - Thanks for posting the link.

The rear shocks were loosely fitted like this -
Problem is they foul the frame at the top and don't push on all the way. Should they run the other way up? anyone recognise them?
-
So here it is then, well bits of it anyway. It's a Model 159 (1975 I think)
First little problem -
Do I need to split the crankcases and get some ali welding done or can I get away without this fixing?
-
Hi all,
Well I went to look at the bike / pile of bits yesterday. I was very pleased with the condition of what I could see and had no hesitation in buying it.
I'll collect it Saturday and if anyone is interested put some more info and perhaps piccies up.
Just a couple of problems already noticed. Clutch cover has a mounting point broken off - the one that sticks out on a leg, does it give support when the actuating lever is pushing the clutch rod in ?
The seat is missing and the tank has no tap or cap.
On the plus side it has a new piston although it hasn't been rebored so not sure if there will be any slap / rattle. Many of the components have been re-sprayed - Frame, tank, brake plates. There are some new bits like Mudguards, brake shoes etc.. The forks and yokes are complete, the sliders are in good condition but one fork leg looks to have been welded on the spindle clamp. A bit of over tightening somewhere in the past perhaps. How good the repair is I won't know until it snaps!
Overall I am very pleased and really looking forward to getting it home and trying to put it all together. The current owner has even offered to help if I get stuck! I guess I'd better not put it straight on Ebay !!!!
At least if there are any bits missing they will be available - unlike my Cota 330 which still has no airbox
-
Lol, you're right. My first ever Trials bike was a Yamaha - TY80 of course. I then had a Montesa Cota 123, and onto Fantic 240 and more Yam's. I have never owned a Bultaco so have no emotional bond with them. I am hoping that given time we will bond. Sometimes you have to work that little bit harder in a relationship.
If it doesn't work out then perhaps it would be better try and find a new home for her!
-
Yeah definately a different tank. Perhaps an aftermarket plasic one - Sammy Miller maybe?
-
I bet the bike is fairly heavy aswell !!!!!
Sorry Tony, looks great. Really good attention to detail. I bet it wasn't that colour when Don Morely rode it, Very Bling!
-
Thanks for the replies, I know what you mean about better 10 years later - this was my first concern. However on the other hand I have a Montesa 330, one of the last twinshocks made and supposedly very competetive so it might be nice to own an earlier twinshock.
I suppose the value is entirely down to condition on any bike of that age. I have looked on Ebay and there has been a few sold recently ranging from

Hi all,
A friend of mine just offered me a Bultaco Sherpa 350T It's a 74 / 75 Model In Red and Silver.
He stripped it several years ago and rebored the cylinder, painted the frame and other bits but there it has sat in boxes since. As far as I can tell the only major item missing is a seat.
It's being offered at

Glad you liked it.
I'm at work at the mo so will check email when I get home.

Have a look at the background image on this page of my website.
http://www.sabreproducts.co.uk/pages/contact.html
I used a paint program to create the .gif from a picture. I might have a black version of it somewhere if it is what you are looking for. If not then I may be able to do it again with another pic. I am sure Andy will have a suitable action piccy on the site somewhere we could use with his kind permission.
If I remembered how to do it the gif from my site might appear below !!

Hi Charlie,
What model/year was your swinging arm off? I understand some are kinked one side and some both as standard?
I presume later models were kinked both sides for more clearamce, although still not enough for trials tyres.
Steve.

I got the 07 outdoor review for Christmas - I can't believe it is in 4:3 Aspect !!
