  1. Programmable ecu module from, er, well its not actually as dear as i thought , considering the options which it will offer. The question is....why?.....there isn't anything wrong with the standard fuelling. The only use for it , as far as i can see, is possibly , to adjust the fuelling to suit a big bore kit. HRC ECU-Programable- A fully programable ECU module from HRC, choose from 5 maps that we download for you + abillity to customise any map to your specification. Return module to us for any future modifications free of charge. Price:
  2. For god's sake, Duck. Just get out and ride the bl**dy thing, and don't, whatever you do, tear it to pieces and store it in MY garage like the rest of your "Collectables". By the way John, your right, he has a bad case of CBPD (compulsive bike purchasing disorder), but as you also know, there is no known cure.
  3. WHAT SORT OF PREMIUMS ARE WE TALKING ABOUT. i PRESUME THAT ITS THIRD PARTY, FIRE AND THEFT?, OR DO THEY DO COMPEREHENSIVE AS WELL. dOES ANYONE WANT TO TELL US HOW MUCHTHEY ARE CHARGING, AS I AM ALSO THINKING ABOUT INSURANCE.

    '06 4rt

The plstic covers are there to prevent damage, and having tested them thoroughly, in the name of science of course, they seem to work rather well
  6. Hi marky, i bought one approximately three months ago, and if truth be told, at first i did think that i had made a huge (and expensive) mistake! First impressions. The clutch was mega grabby and either on or off, no in between, which, allied with the higher than normal gearing, made low speed manouvering "interesting" to say the least. This meant that when the clutch disengaged.. it was off up the sections!! Not so handy in slippery, rocky streams or tight turns, where the bike would invent it's own lines. Impressions Now (three months later) . I will be lowering the gearing, but only 2 teeth more at the rear sprocket. A lot of people have gone up 4 at the rear, but as my previous bike was a 315,which is slightly higher geared than the competition, it should be similar. I would say that it doesnt seem to spin at the rear wheel so readily as the two strokes, and you will never find yourself short of "ooomph". It does take a bit of getting used to, and with practice you will find yourself using the clutch less. (there is a clutch mod, but i havn't bothered with it, as i have become used to it now). It is heavier than the gassers etc. but i find that this makes it solid in streams and less likely to wander/ lose grip etc. However, with practice i have become more accustomed to it and would say that it is an awesome peice of kit, even in my less than capable hands (i ride the novice class). If you try it and like it, you will love it after 6 months, and if people don't give it a chance to get accustomed to it flog it, well there's a cheap deal for you.
  7. I must admit, the gold wheels look SOOOOOO much better than those vile orange ones. Where's me credit card (again)!!!. Saying that, the gold levers look a bit er ...Handbag.
  8. Having broken the front mudguard on my 4rt, i decided on a replacement. However, on phoning my dealer, was told the price.
  9. There is one advertised in this weeks T&MX news, if anyones interested!!
  10. He is merely trying to keep up with your good self, John!!
  11. Did you buy the 99 new or secondhand? If new then i think that you have ben VERY unlucky, and your warranty should have been honoured. (Sale of goods act, and all that) If however it was secondhand, then any previous owner with the mechanical aptitude of a babboon could have rebuilt it badly, which is hardly the bikes fault. I am on my third mont. 99 & 03 315. Apart from a couple of broken back spokes, and the silencer wearing through against the tyre, had absolutely no mechanical problems. Saying that, the filters were cleaned after every trial, clutch oil every 4 or 5 outings, linkages every three months etc. if you look after a bike, it will look after you. Have recently replaced the 03 with a 4rt. I did think of other bikes but, having seen most other makes in bits at various trials, decided to stick with montesa

    New Monty's

Have heard that they will be with Sandifords at the end of September. #As far as i know they will have clutch mod and BNG (Bold new graphics). Oh, and a higher price than this years model. If you are after one, you can get 2005 models for around the 4 grand mark, as dealers make way for 2006 models.
  17. Thaks for the info, will get onto it. Do you use genuine honda oil filters or pattern...just curious.
  18. Bike is new and i am stilln waiting for my manual to be posted, any chance of a bit of clarification ? Ill assume that its repsol?, or is it.

    4rt Oils

I have recently bought a 4rt, and, even with limited time on the bike i think that it is superb , apart from the clutch, which i notice a few others have problems with. I may try the master cylinder mod but only if it has a different bore size. Anyhow, i was wondering which oils you guys use for the engine and gearbox? Any recommendations??
  20. Hi all, does any one know who imports mitani carbon parts to the uk, or where i could get some. I noticed a good selection from Lewisport but don't fancy getting stung for import duty...again
  21. Hi all, Just noticed in the latest edition of trialsworld, supertrick 4rt top yokes , allowing fitment of FAt bars, and footpeg mounts moving the pegs backwards....They are the same ones as fitted to the "Hope" Monts at the SSDT. Very nice, but, seing as i have just shelled out on a 4rt (after much deliberation, not to mention scrimping and saving), trick bits will have to be put on hold, for the time being. I thought some of you may be interested. Cheers
  22. oil is in the airbox, as previously stated due to the bike being upside down. Too many wheelies can also cause this, as early ducati 916's were notorious for it!
  23. Having bought a 240 about six months ago and following a few outings, i can tell you that i find no problems getting grip on it (easily as good on hillclimbs as a modern bike, if not better, possibly due to extra flywheel effect.) It does feel quite long in the steering, and it seems like the front wheel is further away than normal, and the brakes, jeeeez, even with new shoes are pretty much non existent. I am in the process of rebuilding the whole bike, as it was a bit dog- eared when i got it (needs new mains, gearbox rebuilt, disc braked front end etc.), but overall, it seems a cracking little bike and my nostalgia (sp) fueled dreams should soon become a reality!!! Like RS says, buy a minter and you won't regret it!! Good luck!!
  24. Honda rs, the spindle is rebated into the frame on the right hand side, (as you look from above) and is an allen key fitment, and therefore there is no room to get the stilsons on, or do you mean that i should put the stilsons on the threaded end of the spindle. If i did this it will damage the frame threads. I have already snapped two (quality) allen keys (admittedly on the end of a pipe), trying to get this out. The engine is out already. I have only been using a gas burner to heat it up, so will try again with my mates oxy-acetelene. Thanks for the replies guys.-Mexican speed spanner... Ill have to remember that one!!!!. any others??
