Had a brilliant trial yesterday, all the usual things. Great day out, good sections great company. but, I also had teh biggest shock ive ever had. Across the route to the car park, one large puddle (more like a lake as I was to find out). After the last setion had been done I thought, 'yeah lets go for it', so 1st gear nice and slow. 1yard in, this iis good 2yards ooh quite a deep one! 3yards 1foot, b####dy hell. Bike sank up to the bottom of the exhaust! After what seemed like hours of underwater gear changes hopping, pushing etc I manangerd to get out of a huge hole in the middle of this inland sea. Thank god nothing went in the exhaust and that the engine didn't stall. As it is, my brand new boots are full of muddy gunk! Although I saw tracks going in, when i got out I realised that no one else had gone in as on my wheels when I got out was a load of plant stuff. Would really like to drain that hole tto see how deep it is! Iv'e learnt my lesson now. When there is a path around, go around! Pete

Wow! Thanks very much! I'm guessing then that although its been bashed and bodged, the important bits are all original. The other interesting thing is the frame has been black plastic coated and is still very good under the grime. I should think that those are enough, though beeing greedy a bit of background info would be even better. Thanks very much! Pete.

The silencer is different to any other ive seen. Its a cylinder that tapers slightly with a straight shield against the mudguard (can't describe it well) Pics would be great, but unfortunatly can't get on to the yahoo thing. Begin at school there are safeguards on the system to stop us from using free email and chat rooms etc. (Bloody teachers! ) Just had word from Dad that the right hand engine case has been welded up (a few cracks in it) with bearings, oil seals, conrod and big end bearing arriving soon. Won't be ready for next weekend though! Many thanks, keep them coming! Pete.

Hi everyone. My Dad has bought a Yamaha TY175 and is currently rebuilding it. It looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for about 5 years, so he is cleaning and polishing along the way. He bought it cheap from Ebay, and although it was a runner it was a bit of a mess. To my mind it rode quite well, even with the gearing much too high, slick tires and rock solid rear shocks. We are a puzzled though, because of some of the bits. It has magnesium hubs which (to me) says it might have been a special model, or were these fitted as standard? The side panels are missing, and the exhaust is completely different to the others that we have seen. ON the plus side though it has its original mudguards and they are perfect, except for a few scratches. If anyone has any general information about the bikes, that would be great, also some pictures particularly of the engine, chain case, side panels and exhaust. If anyone could oblige, that would be wonderful! Pete.

I've been rideing for quite a long time now (3 years), but still in the easiest class. The main reason is I only ride once, maybe twice a month as I am at boarding school, so not much time. Everytime I get good enough to attempt the class up, term starts and I can't ride again. I have tried the higher things, but the diverscity in the sections is huge. Yesterday there was one section which I could have ridden sitting with my knees steering, with another one that I continually got wrong. There were others that although I eventually cleaned them I was nearly wetting myself at the though of doing it, especially after watching people falling off with disturbing regularity. Riding the easy route gives me more confidence, which means that I ride a bit better etc etc. At a guess I have won three of the small eveing trials and maybe one sunday trial. Untill two months ago I didn't even finish a sunday trial, then I finished 15th. I think I will continue to ride the easy route in the sunday trials untill I can consistently finish in the top ten, but ride the inter route in the eveing trials. If I even tried some of the inter routes, I would break the bike and myself and probably be scared off for years to come! Enough of my dribble, I mean my situation. Pete

Hi everyone. Got some SIDI motocross boots a few weeks ago and have some questions to ask. I tried to ride in them for a bit, but compared to my old boots there was absolubtly no feeling in them at all. Iv'e been told that this is supposed like that, but I see the soles of everyone else's boots flexing a lot more than mine do. Are all trials boots like that, or is it because they are motocross boots. And finally, will they be ok to ride in once (If) I get used to them? Cheers, Pete

Dunno much about helmets, but i'm looking for a new as well. Have been using an old one that my Dad got from a friend I think. Is quite good, fairly light, but not as light as new one. Main trouble is the lining! Its all falling apart , with the foam padding disintegrating more every time I take it off! Pity really as it is quite comfortable really! Wish I knew what make it is because then I could look for another one! Pete (one-dab-or-two)

whoops, my mistake! (note to myself-don't talk about things you know nothing about!)

I reckon that the crossers wil have the best advantage out of anyone, as it is closer to everything than any of the others. Should be a good contest. will it be televised at all? One-dab-or-two (alias Pete)

nasty. 113, fancy falling for a superstition like that!

I know that Giant do bikes that are better suited to regular riding, but can easily cope with trials. can't remember the name of them though. Pete one-dab-or-two
