Yea i think its a welsh thing to,when we took up trials i didnt realise we where living in the wrong part of the country, you mention national level, well we done 3 national events last yr and to be honest found them more enjoyable, apparantly the ACU rules regarding youth c&d national trials say that the lap should be short enough for the parents to be able to go round with there kids.
-
No running around after them is not a good thing,it puts parents off and yes we are a long way off topic
-
OK,but i have seen arguments on other threads which have nothing to do with stop/no stop & what events are they ?,surely it would be easier to let us do the section say 5 times and move on at least until he gets to an age where he can go round on his own, other clubs will allow it but sadly our local club wont.Do you honestly think you would enjoy running around after you're lad for 5 miles sometimes in the pouring rain "it is wales after all"
-
Yea, i could be like you then chilled out doing the friendly sport of trials, but of course there is nothing friendly about trials you only have to look at this forum to prove that ,nothing but arguing by the same people, now go and have a look at an MX forum and find the arguing, after you have done that go to welshtrials.com forum and have a look at the adults arguing last summer accusing each other of riding down a class in the welsh champs so that they can pick up trophies, gets quite heated, then if poss go back another yr and the same thing happens again by adults not YOUTH.You know the saying the proof of the eating,go and have a look.
-
So tell me b40rt what bit of my comment could you not understand, maybe you think its acceptable for the parents to be running 5 miles after there kids,as long as you dont have to do it,with narrow minded people like you involved in trials then yes i think we made the right decision to go to MX and i can fully understand why trials is in decline.
-
Dont know whether you have a peanut as a brain but a Motocross track is a bit different to a trials circuit, sometimes the terrain between sections is harder than the section itself.
-
Bl**dy ell you ride an MX bike for 20 mins you will want to stop to.When my boy was doing trials he used to ride all day and i used to run around after him which was one of the gripes i had with our local clubs,1 mile lap 5 laps = 5 miles i would have to run, push ,pull and pick my lad up for, on asking the club if we could make it easier by doing first section 5 times and moving on,making it now 1 mile there answer was always no,so maybe you can see why i found trials less than enjoyable and why spend a couple thousand pounds a yr on something you dont enjoy. With MX we at least wont have that problem.
-
-
Correct,we sold one of his bikes he still has the other because we ride with some friends up the woods but we dont compete anymore and yes we have gone to MX,as for financing my ambitions ?,we finished with trials because our local clubs dont have any interest in the youth and are not very helpful hence the lack of youth riders down here.
-
That would have been a good one for the video camera, but on a serious note .....i hope you're ok.
-
Yes you are right OTF kids dont buy bikes......but the parents do,you know the ones with the disposable income that are going to spend it on something but would rather spend it on there kids rather than themselves. Whats the difference between me buying a trials bike or buying my son a bike, still a bike sold and a trial entered.
-
Yea i agree with you,but you have to admit there's not much competition.
-
KTM 85 piston £55 Vertex....another Beta rip off bit like there 80cc rear mudguards something like £60 and snap like frozen carrots.
-
my son is also eleven and we done a few c & d nationals last yr but he likes stop allowed with all the trick riding.
-
I think its KTM or is it KTM bottom end,how much is a Beta piston kit ?
-
What does you're son prefer......stop or no stop ?
-
Sounds like a bad earth,i would clean to bare metal both coil mounts
-
So if there is no where near enough young riders....what future is there for the sport ? do you go no stop or stop allowed ?....bearing in mind the youth want stop allowed, what do you think ?
-
Trouble is nobody cares about the kids......like it or not they are the future of trials, its not rocket science to work that one out & yea anybody who thinks that no stop trials will get people rushing to the dealers to buy there cheaper bikes is very much mistaken.
-
Hold on now OTF it was'nt long ago you accused me of throwing my dummy out when i said we were quitting trials well it seems to me you done exactly the same thing when trials did'nt suit you, talk about the tea pot calling the kettle black.
-
Will be interesting to see how many extra bikes the manufactures sell this yr seeing that was one of the reasons of no stop. What a bunch of idiots we got in the ACU and FIM.
-
Hey Jimmy, going off topic a bit where are the conducted trophies that we were promised by the neath club or have they conveniantly forgot about us ?
-
or even a Scorpa 250 4t Yamaha engine ,will last until you die or end of world whichever comes first.
-
You can buy a 4rt for decent money i have seen a few sell for £1700-£1800 plenty of bargains out there but might take you a while to find one.
-
