  1. It's because it's a YZF motor used in a trials bike, not a trials specific engine.
  2. Hi Ken, Of course it could be a 'mechanical' problem, but also worth checking your timing. If it's way out (not set correctly, or slipped) it could make your motor run very hot, maybe cause 'pinking'?. All a bit of a guess as I've not heard the noise. It's worth finding out your piston-bore clearence. The XT piston is very short (slipper piston) so needs quite a tight fit to run quietly when hot.
  3. I've been trying to send you a mail but system says you can't receive any more e-mails. Maybe your inbox is full?
  4. I've built my own Ariel, not sure I'd call myself an expert but have done it. Mick Ash have me a lot of advice, but happy to answer questions you might have as best I can.
  5. Andy Bamford is your man for that stuff. 07951 813275 is a number from 5 years ago. Also look on Google for 'Classicrider444' and 'Matchless Man' I am no way connected to any of these people, they are details I found when researching an Ariel HT build.
  6. I have seen a 350 head modified to fit, but as I understand it, it is A LOT of work. I know the remade 500 heads are expensive but it's worthwhile. As far as I know only Mick Dickenson does the barrels for short stroke. Maybe a few places sell them but they come from the same person I think.
  7. Apparently there has been an issue with the entry forms, something about changing addresses. I have heard that within the next couple of days you should be able to see a link on the South East Trials Combine website: www.SouthEastTrialsCombine.org.uk
  8. I'd also like to enter the 2016 Talmag. Are the entry forms put on any websites at any time?. I don't really want to put private contact info. on a forum. I'll try to e-mail you via a link if I can find one. Many thanks Alex
  9. I assume they will come up on their website, once they are finalised.
  10. I'd love to buy it and restore/ride it myself!!
  11. How about a bike breakers who might have a few mid-80's period Honda's. You could take a look and see if any of them have something like this grommet fitted.
  12. You'll probably find that this grommet is a 'general' Honda part used on various bikes (both road & off-road) and is not specific to the RTL. Speak to a Honda specialist (probably not a Honda dealer who will only look up specific part numbers) and they might recognise it from the pictures and suggest which other models have it, and therefore what the part numer is. Maybe someone like David Silver spares would be able to help?.
