    06 Pro Coolant

After having lots of trouble with my 05 Pro due to it overheating I have since found out it was probably the thermostat. I read in T&MX that the coolant system has been improved for 06. What exactly has been done?

    06 Gasgas

Sorry to say this but my 06 280 is fine after trading in my 05 280. If anything I think I ride it better. It did take a few weeks for the suspension to properly bed in though. I have fitted a Keihin carb which I didnt have before, but to be honest I think the Keihin improved the bike even more. Maybe you do have a serious fault, but all Uk bikes are PDI'd at the dealer etc. Good luck with sorting it. Tony :hat: :santa1:
  4. Was it this weekend just gone? Are the results going to put on the tc website? :hat: :hat:
  5. I had the same problem my 05 280 Pro. I used chemical metal which worked for a few months and then when it leaked again I simply used the sma e method again. I think a new tank is around
  6. I have been trying to set up my pre load as descibed in the latest issue of Trials World magazine. With the rear wheel off the ground the distance measured was 53.5cm and then with me standing on the bike the disatnce decreases to 46cm. This is no where near what trailsworld suggest. They say the preload should be half the travel? I therefore slackened the spring by 1 turn to try and increase the preload and it made no difference with a measurement of 46cm again. Has anybody else experimented with this? Am I doing something wrong? Should the preload be 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 of the total travel?
  7. Ok but what I dont get is how does it seal both sides? The "how to" guide only shows one side being done. Surely both sides need to be sealed etc so that the tyre actually inflates and pops on the rim? Am I going mad!!!!!! :hat:
  8. I have seen this tool that looks like a sausage that is supposed to help fit a tubless rear tyre on the YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE website. I always struggle at home trying to get a seal using straps and ropes etc. Has anybody used this tool? I have read the "How to" guide but it doesnt seem too clear. Does the kit come with two sealing rubbers for both sides of the tyre? Any info appraciated as I dont want to waste my money on a useless tool. Tony M
  9. Am I right in thinking there is only one adjustment on the Ohlins rear shock. This is on the bottom. Or is there two, one for compression and the other rebound? I think there is only one but I have not removed the air box to view the top of the shock yet. If there is one then I assume the rebopund and compression is controlled under the one setting? Any boffins input most welcome as I know there are lots of opinions out there.
  10. I have been riding for around 10 years but have never really worried about suspension set up. I can hop and skip my bike around and I am now riding my second gas gas pro 280. Seeing as it comes with this new Raga shock I wanted to experiment but the instructions supplied dont say which way way softens and hardens the shock. I weigh 10.5 stone (66kg) and I am guessing this is quite light for the bikes stock settings. I am going to adjust the pre load on the rear shock, but how much compression should I allow for with my weight? Any information appreciated?
  11. Not sure about the Ducati system. I thought that was only for the Raga rep's. I did as explained above to my 05 280 Pro. At the end of the day is it really worth messing around with a laptop when it wont actually make hardly any difference? However it would be quite good fun playing around with different settings.
  12. Take the tank off and look at the ignition unit. There is a male and female ended wire both left disconnected. Connect these together and that is the more aggressive setting. However it does not kick in until 8k so you only notice it when you are nailing up a step or huge bank flat out. For real resuls fit a keihin carb. Much better bottom end and then all the poke you need higher up the rev range.
  13. Just be careful about getting the kickstart stuck down wedged by the foot peg. This will chew up the starter cog in seconds and will wind up you having to replace it. I have got thrugh 2 allready on a 10 month old 05 pro. If you get TDC first and dont snap and just prod it starts first time and puts less stress on the mechanism.
  14. Ordered mine last week from BVM. It should hopefully arrive next week
  15. Seymours arena only gets used for practice a few times over the summer and it wont be used now until they hold a trial there again. Either a club round or the next event there is probably the Wallace Cup.
  16. Dont really ride any club trials these days as I just tend to go out practicing. I do ride the odd trial if the land is good. Im a member of Thames, North Berks, and Aldermaston Nomads.
  17. Well mine's in BVM on the guarantee and even after Steve Saunders took it out for two hours he cant find the fault. Sods law it runs perfect as soon as I take it to the dealer. I bet when I get it home in a few days it will start playing up again. Steve has no idea but cant diagnose it until it starts playing up
  18. Savage, its a shame you have t drive there. Im based in the Reading area and theres not much round my way either. If I do practice anywhere Im looking over my shoulder for wardens or playing dodge the horse or dog walker when travelling ebtween places to ride. Even though I stop for horses and go at a snails pace down the paths at tickover in 6th its the moto corssers who give us a bad name. Im lucky enough to be able to ride from my house so I just move on if I suspect I am annoying people.
  19. I have a 2005 Pro 280 and it is not running too well. After a few hours riding the bike will begin to misfire and basically run terrible. The spark plug will be very black and replacing the plug will allow about one hours use before the problem occurs again. If the bike is left to cool down the bike will run fine again on the original spark plug until it is warmed up over around 2 hours use. BVM have no idea what is wrong, and I was wondeirng if anyone on this forum had an idea. I run a moxture of 75:1 on a standard carb on the standard factory carb settings. Any comments welcome
