  1. Hey every one, this is my mate IAN.He's never been off road on a bike before. I introduced him to Trials and broke his Cherry at Backcowm quarry. He enjoyed himself ,and so did i as this picture illustrates.
  2. What a brill topic! I think the new 4rt (and the old one's for that matter) are ace bike's. Fantastic quality. Perfect design . I'm also a fan of the BETA 4t. What i hate is " we WILL make the rules " approach Honda have got. To me they are the motorcycle cartel . BUT BUT BUT, these small European firms like KTM ,Husqvarna(now a GasGas in disguise) Triumph, Beta are building engines and bike's that can compete and win against the Jap manufacturers. As far as the future goes, if Honda can force an issue , they will , as you can be certain ,money will talk especially if the motorcycle sport politicians get involved.
  3. Oh fun, helps me slide the ass end of my Triumph when i'm doing the leave the brain at home thing. Anti social motor cycling at it's finest!Try it ! Oh we all ready are ! Good ain't it! LIFE IS BRILL ON BIKE'S !
  4. It's probably a great bike but look's late 80's 90's shell suit . Garish .
  5. Agree. But this is what happens when there's only crap available to work with. Find more and more that parts are p*** poor.
  6. Hello Guys, pretty much the same, but more than that ,if a job's worth doing ,do it proper or not at all . On a similar note also found the kick start bottom nut /support bush, missing. All the time I've run my 280 with no real problems and haven't done a trial on this yet . I know the problems are small but i'm thinking there maybe more in store, been thinking of trading it in for a brand new RT Mont. If it was two or three years old , i wouldn't bat an eyelid , but at 10 months old ,i'm none to impressed .
  7. Funny you should ask about what i did today to my GasGas,as on my new 250, i nearly had a baby on discovering a water leak! Just a little speck on the bash plate. I haven't ridden this one in anger yet as iv'e been stuck away from home yadder yadder . Other day ran it up, no problem. Yesterday just before dark noticed the drip on the bash plate . Had a quick peek, revealing water under the water pump unit.On this occasion, i held back on tearing in to it and mailed Kev at GasGas U.K should there be a recognized fault.Bit like the leak from the rear brake hose at the caliper. Any how there isn't .But this is what i found, see the pic's Not that clear, pic one, but there's a substantial amount of uncleaned casting on this spigot on both sides.Pic two is after i filed it back, pic three shows how the factory have finished the spigot with the yellow dot . The last one is so you can see that i did both sides. So should you spring a leak for no apparent reason, give this a look see. Ted.
  8. Today for mama GasGas,i collected the cases from Triple S coatings in Bingley . They look mint in reality, they're actually metallic. Here's a picture.
  9. Mutly , take the plunge provided it's not a scrapper. Ride for youreself and no one else, join in and do your own thing ,as much of a paradox that sounds . Enjoy your self pal ! Ted.
  10. Ah jse good to see a nice tidy workshop with propper equipmentand clean work space. Also if you built that tool well done.
  11. rainey88,Apico do a set of standard ones which don't discollor at the site of a rain cloud for around £4.00 the lot (inc P+P),available on the internet via e bay and i'm fairly sure that PRO Bolt do a kit,in any collour ,just bell them they're a pretty helpful bunch. Got me some Titanium nuts for my old road racing bike along with carb top allen bolts as i couldn't get hold of either elsewhere. Regards shy T
  12. Just bolted on from a different position and a bit of adaption. As for liking them i think they make better door stops and paper weights than motor cycle brake's. As for their branding i think the lettering should have read "HEEVO" not "HEBO" if you know what i mean. They are in fact nothing but a source of frustration.
  13. Lineaway ,this is first rate options you've posted here.As i stated in my post ,i think fabrication is the way forward and use something readily available. as I like to say ,"if you can't,win cheat!"
  14. Oh yes brings back memories. Quite honestly your dealing with a 14 year old part . i repaired both front and back calipers 18 month ago and got 4 genuine piston sets and seals next day from GasGas . Have you checked the caliper side labyrinths, which the seals sit in? Mine had a yellow, caked on deposit (corrosion),which i removed with a Dremel . I'd say the repair was successful as they work ,but they're crap to bleed up,the pistons are good but there action leave's allot to be desired, and they need constant attention to keep working properly. You have to remember that Gasgas are small time compared to a multi national corporate giant like Honda. Also, getting parts can be a bit err.. Manyana . Myself,i'd say if you're a bit handy fabricating, see if something else can be made to fit from maybe a beta as maybe the calipers are Brembo and some Italian, possibly French scooter parts will fit and be readily available.Just a suggestion to help you find a way . Good luck and keep us posted. just a rider on that , i think possibly Hebo are just AJP with a different badge name. Ted.
  15. Keep nagging plod into action. They don't care two hoot's. If you find out who they are , and do them over, don't tell anyone ,don't get caught , deny it up to the hilt if you get lifted. My mate Sean got six months aggravated assault for lethering two bloke's who came back twice to nick his CBR 600 despite the cop's arresting them.He caught them in the act the second time and worked them over with his bare hands despite being attacked with a pair of bolt crops. The cop's gave him the good cop bad cop routine and because he was honest they put him in Strangeways. Good luck pal and i'll be keeping an eye where ever i go .
  16. For the state of it tltel i'd agree but i think it look's like it's just been hosed over with a power washer with some sort of de-greaser and left wet , but whatever it's a mess. Glad it ain't mine!
  17. At last got home!so today on my GasGas fired it up till it got hot and fan cut in then had a quick blast round the garden. Then to my mates GasGas, i spent 2 hrs bloody cleaning it. He bought this 03 250 Edition blind, even though i told him not to . If he spent a grand on it, he still wouldn't have a neat bike. It's rattling it's tit's off and quite frankly ain't worth a blow on a Rag and Bone Mans trumpet ! He paid £900 for this thing and every metal surface except the fork legs are goosed. I know i'm choosy but check out the spray painted body work and how corroded the engine cases are . The back shock is leaking and the linkages have more play than soft Mick! Chain and sprockets worn past reliable function. Funny though the front brake works a treat. My self even if i'd traveled to Outer Mombasa to view this bike i would have walked away.If the person who owned this bike is reading this you want stuffing for passing this sort off trash of as Good condition for age . To my Mate, well i told you so!
  18. WHY WHY WHY did i say sunny? It's bloody horrible here today and flight's are beeing cancelled! That's an even longer trip. Oh CACK!!!!
  19. Looked at a picture of my Gasser's on this day in history .Got a message from Coops to see if i was going to ride in a trial with Darwen club but still at work. Flight's moving out here in the dead zone and today we have sun! So hope is high to get off later than expected , but not holding my breath. Maybe soon i can ride the new one in a comp. All hinging on the wether out here near Sunny Norway!
  20. Try not to be detered Jimmie. It is a step up so push on if you can.I too changed halfway through last year , big bifference at the first trial and a lot of difficult rock . Kind of got dragged around a bit but i stuck with it even though on my third trial after the change i finished last in my group. The next trial i finished 12th out of 22 but on the last trial i did it was a killer. There is personal achievment involved and i completed, and didn't bottle out on any sections despite smashing myself up a bit.So as they say where i'm from "Keep gooin wit yed dayn". That's " keep going with your head down", my old cock Sparrow! Ted.
  21. Today i thought about my GASGAS as thinking is the only way to do anything as i'm away at work. The wether here has been scarey! close on 100MPH winds for the best part of a week and one night 17 mtr waves rocking this old crate all over the show. My old mate says that this place is like a tooth that's been loose for thirty years ,one day it will come out !!! Word's of comfort eh!
  22. Yep ! So if i'm right in thinking Zippy your saying it's ( wife appears ) " When you've finished that love just put this fitted kitchen pack together for us then if your a good boy you can ride your GasGas" day. Well it's actually ok on our roof as my wife don't like heights. So she stands in the garden nagging and i shout down " Hey love , shift your self over to 't' right a bit ,go on go on go. Ok that's fine ,can see bike now " So she does a little war dance throws in a few curses something a bout you "don't look at me like that" then vanishes. Good idea zippy , by the way it's ground hog day .
  23. This has happened to lots of people me included . the last time someone did it to a group waiting i got behind this guy and just as he was about to set off into the section, i rammed his back wheel just hard enough to knock him off balance , and as he turned to look at me i just laughed at him , and he was an expert as well so he should have known better than just blatantly push in . Quite crap when you have to resort to tricks like that .
  24. Ha, well zippy,.....about as much use as a chocolate fire guard ," I used to be uncertain, but now i'm not sure anymore"! Today i saw my GasGas's .... Unfortunately it was from the roof of my house, where upon i was taking the old chimney pot's down and re-pointing the brick work . How crap is that?
  25. Today on my 280,which i'm rebuilding, took the crankshaft to Grampian Motors in Liverpool along with the BE bearing, rod and pin kit . Bruce walks out,i gives him the rod kit, crank and a sheet of paper with all the bike details etc which he gives me back." I'll do it now while you wait"! To a look of astounding perplexity and the quote from me of "what"? And with that he shot off and returned in fifteen minutes job done. Talk about good service, and that's why i always deal with them, because they are good!
