  1. The later TYZ'S had a resonator, Mine was a 98 and it had one, My mates 96 didn't. It gave a better bottom end torque than the standard pipe.
  2. I saw this the other day, it's not great and stupid money. I have seen some pretty good RTX conversions in the past. If you are mechanically minded you can get an old RTX and a CG 4 stroke and make a reasonable cheap 4 stroke twinshock for under £500 quid. Not my cup of tea but each to their own.
  3. The 300 Gasser is a tad thirsty even compared to a highly strung 300 sherco. Dellorto or Keihin carb, They still drink!
  4. This is the nature of world level sections, Yes they could be made safer. As for heavier bikes, it won't make a difference, late 80's/early 90's, bikes weighing over 85-90kg were being ridden both indoor and outdoor in dangerous sections at world level.
  5. We have a TY80 available for youngsters who would like to have a go at trials and we run a series aimed at youth and beginners. I will need to dig the bike out and run it up and check it over as it hasn't been used for a while. We have The 1st trial of the series this Saturday in Southampton if you fancy a trip down for a watch. I could organize the bike and someone to teach for the next trial as he's away this weekend. You would need boots, helmet, gloves and long sleeves and £5 each for insurance, A very cheap way for them to try out trials.
  6. I was expecting a trip over the bars.
  7. It may be small but it smells like a big one.
  8. It can take a while to bleed the air from the clutch system, Keep at it, Some people give up too early assuming there's a problem. I take it you didn't paint the shaft. On another note, nothing to do with the bleeding issue, I'd be cautious of painting the inside of engine covers, Unless using proper etch primers and chemicaly stable activated 2 pack paints, Atf especially could react with the paint leaving a nice mess in the gearbox.
  9. There's a 09/10 raga one on fleabay at the moment. Yes the 02 tank is aluminium.
  10. I seem to recall at an acu technical officials seminar that chassis and engine numbers are checked at some mx meetings. It would be good for logbooks or an official certificate to be produced at signing on for every bike at trials.
  11. That's a great idea, I see the reason behind it with the shoulder bolts!
  12. The rotary in the RX8 is very torquey, I thought it would be a bit slow being a non turbo, I've driven lots of the turbo 7 rotary's so the bottom end in the 8 was a real suprise. I think a 4 stroke with Variable inlet and exhaust timing like Honda's v-tech would be the way forward. Bottom end grunt with more top end scream.
  13. I think Zippy is right, There's some carbon going on with the airbox, I'm guessing the whole airbox is carbon with most of it made up with black resin to hide the carbon weave. The minimum weight rule is not stopping development.
  14. Maybe you can get a threaded male outlet piece to connect to a fuel hose and tap a thread in the inner piece of the tank outlet then fit an inline tap in the hose?
  15. I've run 80:1 for years. I have noticed a variation between brands of oils. I'm very fussy on carburation and engine response. Ipone semi is great, only slight smoke and nice and crisp. Putoline is junk!, both my Sherco and GG didn't run as clean on it and when left even for a 3 weeks it leaves treacle in the carb. I still have half a bottle that is only good for soaking chains in. The shell semi stuff that I brought in an emergency is actually very good. The oil I'm using at the moment is the GRO semi synthetic and it's spot on, Only tried it as Ipone was out of stock and I needed oil in a hurry. To be honest most people won't tell the difference between oils but I run a high state of tune and compression with a Keihin carb and I run right on the lean limit mixture wise just before it knocks. I won't run less than 80:1 as I have had a partial sieze once being in the wrong gear on a hill and it wasn't reving high for long just enough to get me out of trouble after I commited, another thing that put me of Putoline. The bike should have never seized that quick.
  16. I've never had a low pressure gauge, I set the rear so it squashes half way with a light bounce on the bike I'd guess around 8 psi. The front, I run quite hard about 15-20 psi. I found this out by accident as I forgot to let the front down at a trial and only noticed when re inflating after washing. I recalled the bike being much better at this pressure so I run around the same pressure all the time now, If some one had said to me, try 15 in the front, I would have politely said o.k I'll give it a try, and thought to myself their on drugs and not bother even trying it. Tyre pressure is personal preference, each to their own, Some people will think I'm nuts to run that high in the front but even in the slippery stuff I can still pull a rolling stoppie down a steep hill and the bike steers better too. Also I can get the weight on the front when needed to dig the tire into a camber instead of it rolling off the rim. I'm running x-lights but with other tyres I would imagine lower pressures are needed. People tend to follow the herd and regard a certain pressure as the magic number, Get a foot pump and a pressure gauge and go experimenting at a practice day to see what feels best for you.
  17. Thieving B******ds, I suggest alerting other dealers about people trying to get chargers for them.
  18. http://www.roadanddirtperformancebikeparts.co.uk/CYLINDER-NICKEL-PLATING.html These guys are great value and offer a great service and turnaround, My mate used them and was very impressed on a Gas Gas cylinder. Cheaper and faster than Langcourts.
  19. If the factories carry on this way they are all going to go bust, There are lots of people wanting to buy bikes not just Beta, JTG and Gas Gas too. Unfortunately some bike dealers don't have a clue, They can take an order for a bike but are not professional enough to chase things up and keep customers in the loop. They need to be more proactive. Delays sometimes happen but when you sell new toys to people they want them yesterday and get frustrated, These customers need constant attention and communication or they will buy elsewhere. If they were in the car trade they would not last a month.
  20. A couple of things 1, the bike washer went on strike so Adam had to work out how to use a jet wash and blasted the stickers off. 2, more likely the sticker supplier hasn't been paid. If they can afford to send a lorry to the SSDT they can afford to pay Adam. He can sell the bike to me to get some money back!!!!!!
  21. I know Bou is amazing but that bike looks so light, I'd like to see it done on a standard 4rt!
  22. Is the dealer that you ordered it from not keeping you in the loop?
  23. Stay still dear you might feel a little prick....................
  24. I agree, that can give them symptoms. With the piston in backwards the ring lands can melt as they are at the hot side and melt into the piston skirt if the bike has had a flogging. Seen that before.
