£850 is not a bad price, If bike seems o.k. It's worth a gamble as you could make most of the money back in parts if all goes wrong.
-
The Keihin carb is correct for your bike on that year.
The Dellorto unit is a fuel pump, Very simple it runs on Vacuum from the inlet to make it pulse a diaphragm that pumps fuel.
The Diagram should give you a better explanation.
Pic from Splatshop that I have labled.

Seen the vertigo up close in the flesh, Looks good even though it's a prototype so a bit fabricated here and there.
The final production bike will need the waterpump moved as it sticks out too far or a protector on it. The regulator looks a bit vulnerable under the headstock. Apart from that I'm impressed after a very good look at all the components.
The waterpump looks like a Bosch unit used in the fast heat system on many german cars so it will be reliable if it's a genuine Bosch.
Gas Gas are (were!!) testing the pump on Raga's bike at the moment.

Just seen this while browsing, I'm thinking a quick cut with a hacksaw or twisting it with a bar will have it off in no time.
Also it doesn't come with a padlock or bolts, Is this good value for £89?

Hi, Remove the floats, You will then see 2 tamper proof torx screws, Undo these and the jet tower will come off, You will see a rubber gasket on it, Check it is o.k and look for some rough castings or bad machining.
Also make sure the float level is correct, Look on splat shops website for the info, Don't take any notice of the one on the beta website.

Paint the centre bits black and it will look like a normal sprocket!
-
They were being "economical" with the copper!!!
-
Strip, Clean and re grease them every 4-5 trials or you will be changing them again very soon!
-
You'll get used to it!! Are them red bolts alloy or steel, I wouldn't like the thought of alloy bolts on a sprocket, Asking for trouble.
-
I normally thread lock, Disk bolts, Sprocket bolts, Flywheel Nut, Kickstart bolt, Steering stem locknut and anything else that shakes loose.
I use a low to medium strength thread lock, It also stops bolts rusting in too, If you use the correct tools to undo them and providing the bolts are in good order to start with, There should be no problems.
-
They do come with a spare bearing I don't know why. I brought a kit a few months ago but I'm dissapointed with them as they still have play due to the cage type bearing design. I didn't think they would be that bad.
Learned my lesson, I'll be buying genuine ones next time.
Saying that they do the job and 95% of people would be happy with them.

Classic trials does not include big obstacles and such that would give a youth much advantage, It's more balance and control and to be honest most middle aged guys have more bulk and are more capable of man handling an old bike around anyway.
Seems like some miserable old gits just don't want their 40+ odd years of experience shown up by a lad.
Youths are the future of trials it doesn't matter if it's modern or classic.
-
Went backwards for a split second too!
-
Then why are they building these light little bikes then?
O.k Trials is down to the rider to a big extent, But stick Toni Bou on a big heavy twinshock and see how he does against the others on lighter bikes.
A group of older gents, Very good riders all about the same level but are getting on a bit, arthritis, back trouble etc, The lighter bike will always be the advantage.
-
Ah so it's the new Dunlop! I haven't seen them yet. I would be interested to see how they perform but I wouldn't take the gamble myself.
-
Just having a laugh, I know the difference now, Gas Gas should be able to hold on to their money with him on board, No offence to the Jewish by the way.
-
Give it a tap it will come out, But you could just leave it there and refit the clutch as it's not a wear and tear part so will not need replacing.
Just tap it from the side shown in your picture and it will drop out through the centre of the shaft.
-
To change the bottom shock rose joint/Spherical bearing You need to remove the bushes either side 1st to gain access to the clip that holds the bearing in. The bushes can be a pain to get out without destroying them.
On some shocks the bearing is just a press fit so it can be pushed out with the bushes in place, Had a Beta 80 in the workshop like this yesterday.
I'm not sure on the Gas Gas std shock but the Ohlins & Reiger have a clip.
Try and be careful with the bushes as they are expensive so you want to re use them if you can, The bearing is about £12 from a bearing shop.
The center swing arm bearings don't usually cause much trouble, I have an old socket and a 10" 3/8 extension bar I use to beat them both out together the same way.
Be carefull refitting them as there is a gap between them in the middle so tap them in either side till there is just enough space for the seal.

To build a bike from the ground up and then to ride it in a trial must be the most enjoyable and satisfying way to enjoy the sport.
A class is needed for bikes like this along with the modified ones where they can compete properly with others.
It's not fair for them to compete with the big old heavy bikes.
It can't be much fun riding unclassified and not being in the results either.
The bikes are more suited to classic trials as the types of sections are ideal for them.
Get campaigning and ear bending for some new classes next season, Untill then go out and enjoy the bikes, Have fun and keep a low profile so as not to upset the organisers you need to ass kiss to get your class.

The idle gear will rattle even if it has a scratch, if you have broken teeth your problem lies there.
An 05 300 Raga for a newbie, Brave man LOL.
-
Try a KTM dealer, Most bits on the small beta's are the same as KTM and half the price of beta.
-
Ask him how much he hopes to get for it, He will have a figure in his head, he wants you to open your mouth first.
Tell him around £400 and you will see from his reaction that he does have an idea what it's really worth, He will then tell you what he wants for it plus a bit more.
Then tell him what you want to pay for it, if he won't accept so be it. Simplez.
-
I would use a Mich even in the Dunlop was half the price!
-
There's nothing wrong with building bikes like this, In the early days of trials, all bikes were modified road bikes anyway a standard trials bike did not exist.
I bet that bike is fun to ride, 19HP chinese pit bike engine, That will make all the hills and leave the bantams crying at the bottom!!!
-
You might as well bolt 2 shocks and fit a set of drum brakes to one of these.
