Owners need to check their frames as even with the plastic lock stop there the bottom yoke can hit and flatten the tubing causing a weak spot.

Hi, Yes the new type pump will fit from 2002 to present.

I have ridden the Montesa with the 300 Kit on and still wanted more out of it, I then tried the beta 300 and the Gas Gas 300 and brought the Gas Gas.
I like 4 strokes to play on, but they are not for me in the sections.
A 300 Montesa will not feel as pokey as a properly set up 300 Gas Gas.
If I could afford it I would have a Mont to play with and a Gasser to compete on as I do like the Mont, Especialy the sound.
-
Didn't you know about the secret club levy that is put in a pot for all the club officials to pay for their Gas Gas gearbox repairs.

What does it say in the pinned post about ACU bashing?

I'm sure the Jotagas factory is fine, There may be a delay but it's the dealer that needs a rocket up their backside to keep the customer happy.
It's never good to have a customer that has to constantly do the chasing as buyers remorse will soon set in and this situation will arise that doesn't look good for the company.
It's not a nice situation for the dealer, I've been there with cars from Japan I've had to keep over 50 customers happy when their cars didn't make the boat and were delayed for an extra 2 months due to problems in Japan. I phoned every customer every week mostly just to say hello and only lost 3 sales from the whole lot.

Your right Nige, It needs to be a fairly long torx driver too and most of the changeable bit drivers are too fat to go in the hole!

Bitching about bikes that are yet to fall apart is one thing but what is it coming to when the most positive thing about trials, The cost, is getting attacked by the big black cloud of negativity. Really?????
-
If you think trials is dear, Take the kids to the cinema or a football game and see what's cheaper.
-
BVM are good, Lawence knows his stuff!!

The next one is Sunday 1st march at Hut Hill, You can just turn up on the day and ride, You don't need to pre enter.
The dates of the events are posted on the Waltham Chase website and we also have a facebook page too.

I have found the best place for parts is Splatshop in terms of service and getting the right bits to you fast 1st time. Be careful with the postage prices with some of the other dealers.
The front disk is meant to move and rattle around quite a bit, It's what is know as a floating disk and normally only fitted to trials machines so it's a common question from people who have just brought their 1st trials bike.
-
I done just that on Sunday, Had an extra 2 hours in bed, Just packed bike and gear, Finished trial at 12.30, stood around and chatted for an hour afterwards, Got home and washed and dried bike, had a shower and was sitting with a beer at 3.30 with nothing to worry about but the T.V.
1st time I done this for over a year, Mind you I did go to help the other club set out the day before.
-
My fault for lowering the tone, Now, where can I get velcro trials gloves. I could also lasso them with the cut out lanyard!
Better re pack the exhaust so I can sneak up on them.
-
I see why you need them.....11 bikes.... rub it in you lucky fella!!!!

Definatly worth properly sealing the airbox as dabster has mentioned.
Mine was done either at the factory or when pdi'd in the u.k but not very well, I have re done mine with tiger seal as it makes the airbox stronger and less likely to break in a flip. The air boxes are held together by a few plastic pegs and phillips screws so the top part snaps in half very easy.
It's a pain if you want to take the airbox apart again, but if bonded and sealed properly, it will last the lifetime of the bike unless you really hit it hard and smash it to bits.

Waltham chase club has lots of youth riders and beginners and the easy route is set out especially for them, We keep them out of the nasty mud, Give plenty of space to turn and make sure the sections are safe and not intimidating.
The trial you rode was not a nice trial for beginners and most of the sections were set out in the places to avoid when it's wet. It was a lot tighter than the past trials Southampton club has set out, Not their fault as it's really a trial for the old boys they just decided to up the game this time.
Section 1 and 2 were especially nasty for beginners.
We have 5 routes to cater from 4 year olds on electric bikes up to the experts.
I'll keep an eye out for you at the next one and come and say hello.

A couple of thing to try: New spark plug and gap it to 0.8mm, Check float height in carb is correct, Check flow from fuel tap.
It should start 1st or 2nd kick from cold unless it's been stood for a few weeks.
When cleaning carb, make sure you strip out the choke plunger and make sure choke circuit is clean.
Failing that a chipped reed or them not sealing properly can cause bad starting.
What year is the bike and what carb is it running?
-
Don't panic just yet Carl, Sometimes Sherco's do the odd backfire. If it has just started happening or gets more frequent then start to worry.
Mine used to back fire every other start but that's another story, (advanced timing for more power!). I miss my Sherco!

Gear oil on a 2 stroke will last for ages if it doesn't get contaminated by water.
On a 4 stroke it's different as combustion from the engine mixes with the oil, Hence car service intervals.
It doesn't need changing often unless you crunch gears or are very hard on the clutch.
Every 10 rides would be too often.
-
Great pic of the rider and Beta parting company.
Them photos have the LSD effect.

It's fine to clean filters, I only replace when the glue starts coming apart or bits start falling off them. It's more important in the dry as dust is the biggest problem. I always put a thin smear of chain lube or grease around the inside of the airbox to trap some of the dust before it gets to the filter.
It will be interesting to know what the rattle is, You say it comes and goes and that to me sounds like it's not the small end bearing.
Does it do it when cold or hot.
It could be running lean and knocking occasionally when hot and that may be the problem. It could be coked up and just need the top end cleaning.
To the untrained ear a lean pinking bike will sound like it's got an engine problem.
-
The front disk is a floating type on that year and should rattle around.
BVM are good for spares as are much of the other outlets.
I have found Trials and Tribulations great for the older bikes as they have lots of old stock parts.
For all round service and fast delivery Splatshop will never let you down and bend over backwards to help on tech issues.
-
Front pressure varies depending on individuals.
I always run michelin.
Now your'e all gonna think I'm crazy or making this up, But I run around 10psi if really muddy and 15+ in the dry.
This is in trial competition not on trails or anything.
I forgot to let the front tyre down once in a wet trial and found the bike was riding great, I didn't realize till after when I went to blow both tyres back up again.
Experiment with pressues, dont be a lost sheep and follow the heard, Find whats best for you.
-
I've seen 10+ year old 125's that have had lots of use and still running sweet on original piston and rings.
Your a lucky lad to be able to ride over 200 hours in 7 months.
Riding it hard for that amount of time could cause it to wear.
