  1. Day/Night Is that the light switch!!!!, Don't worry I know you mean Sun/Rain.
  2. Just switch back and forth as you wish on the move. You can test the switch with a multimeter, Its just an off/on switch (open or close). It doesn't do alot that you will instantly notice a difference. Do a search for map or mapping switch and you will find more info.
  3. Take a set of allen keys, a 10mm spanner and a socket set. Oh and a big hammer LOL. It wont leak water out of the overflow, that only opens under high pressure. The fuel tank should have a 1 way valve to stop fuel coming out. If you have to lean it, it still wont leak oil but take an old towel to put under it just in case someone has overfilled it. Give it a good check over, especialy the colour of the gear oil and the rear linkage, If it is a bit rough then walk away. 07 to 011 bikes are in the harder to shift bracket as the cheapies and the mint nearly new are the quick sellers, The middle of the range market is a funny one so don't worry, either knock them down loads or find another, there's plenty about.
  4. In the U.K it comes under the sale of goods act, It must be fit for purpose (riding a trial) and reasonable quality.
  5. Watched the X trial tonight, They admitted the Vertigo ran out of fuel at the last round as someone forgot to put the fuel in, then it later broke a bolt. I hate to say it but I think Vertigo need a see through fuel tank!!
  6. Upkeep is the best solution, I've only had to sort calipers on bikes I've just brought or other peoples. One of the 1st jobs on a new bike is strip and clean calipers. My bikes live in mud but I jet wash the calipers well after every ride and most importantly blow them dry with compressed air after washing along with drying the rest of the bike before I put it to bed.
  7. Click the link for the proper tool. http://www.bikerstoolbox.co.uk/acatalog/Brake_Service_Tools.html Even if you only use it once a year you will be glad you had it. I have a similar home fabricated tool that I made before I realized you could get the small ones, It has saved alot of time over the years.
  8. Hi, Thanks for the info, The XIU bearings are 35 euros each (about £25.92). The dealers in the U.K want £37.42 for the genuine ones. I figured they are worth a try due to the price and that the genuine ones don't last 5 mins anyway. I didn't want to find out they were slightly tighter than the genuine ones as I have Magnesium cases and wouldn't want to tempt fate. I've got an adapted puller that I made for doing the pro mains, works really well on the crank, and a large press. Thanks Chris, I'm gonna email them to get some shipping info and ask about the electric waterpump too.
  9. Asian made vehicles can be good, Thailand makes most of the Pick ups, Toyota's, Mitsubishi's, Isuzu's, Ford Rangers etc and most people think they come from Japan. Bikes however, as you stated yourself, They make good stuff in china, and with the right supervision, a Gas Gas could be made better and cheaper. For a £1000 you can get a good, brand new Chinese trail or road bike that you can ride for over 25000 miles without it breaking if made in the right factory. For the sake of Gas Gas, Their employees and their families I hope they come out of this mess o.k
  10. I bet the Chinese can make them better than the Spanish, Might bring the prices down or let the Importers make a decent living for once.
  11. How did them special main bearings fit?, were there any problems? Did they deliver quickly? I'm thinking about getting some as I have to do my mains anyway and they work out £22 cheaper than the standard ones from Gas Gas, so even with the shipping they might still work out good value and be a good upgrade. I wonder how much the electric waterpump kit is? I'm quite tempted as the 300's run too hot for my liking.
  12. That's how to test a set of front forks!!!

    Factory 2015

Best looking Beta ever, I might have to have a sniff around for a used one next year!!
  14. That's a very good point! They are probably enjoying some peace and quiet!
  15. I didn't realize there was an open class. I might make a trip to the Cornwall event. The Zona 1 round would be ideal but it clashes with an arena display trial and I can't get out of doing it. Shame there's no youths, I could dust 3 inches of dust off the old TY80 and make my nipper realize how lucky he is with the Gas Gas.
  16. Just clicked on Dadoff's links, I better order them mains while I still can and get the camera ready for ebay!! I will be gutted if GG go bust and the bike will have to go before it drops more in value. My fingers, Legs and everything else is crossed for Gas Gas!!!
  17. I knew there would be an explanation Dadoff, It set off my OCD reading the conflicting posts and was bugging me!!!! I do get your point on the gearbox, I've never seen a failed one but I hear of a few going bad especially the kickstarts if ham legged. I've been unlucky with the main seals instead, My 09 needed them early on. My low hours, just over 2 year old, Raga is now drinking ATF, I'm wondering if the ATF is attacking the seals, I know it attacks neoprene gaskets, as I've found out. Even so I will still use ATF as I like it. It wouldn't put me off the GG, I can see why some would be put off, But to me it's just over £100 in parts and a couple of hours less drinking time, I could live with that every 2 years.
  18. dadof2, on 25 Dec 2014 - 02:08 AM, said: Dadoff, Please put us out of our misery DO YOU OWN A GAS GAS????????????????????? I'm NOT stiring, I just can't work out these contradicting posts, Please don't take this the wrong way
  19. It wouldn't put me off a Vertigo, When they come out I will know they have been tested to the absolute extreme. Seen an 09 Beta brake the linkage and that bike was used by a good novice route rider.
  20. Dadoff confirmed he owns 2 gas gas's in a recent post, Keep up Johnny, I must admit we all thought he wouldn't touch one with a bargepole!!! Edit, Just read this thread again and I might have missed a post, Dadoff doesn't own a gas gas it appears. Sorry I'm confused, not that it really matters.
  21. 99% this is always the case, It looks clean at 1st glance but get a pick with a hook on the end and scrape the part of the lip you can't see and you will be suprised what comes out! Always put the seals back in the same way round as they came out, They are slightly tapered.
  22. Could it be mud in caliper that has frozen? I had carb icing in both bikes last month, They wouldn't idle properly till a good 20mins into the trial, Had to keep them running on the throttle, Even with the idle screws right in they didn't want to know. I heard a few other bikes with the same issues. Does anyone else get that in the colder parts? Sorry to steer the thread away from brakes, The cold weather got me thinking.
  23. Your'e right the tread size isn't right for most trials competitions, It depends where he's using it and what he's using it for. It would probably beat the older Dunlop however. It will be interesting to see how the new Dunlops perform.
