  1. It could be a bad earth or contact causing the problems. You could fit the Leonelli regulator and rectifier from the later gas gas or sherco. With a bit of searching you could pick up a bridge rectifier and 12v regulator from an electronics store that will do the same job and cost peanuts. I have done this before on an early Gas Gas and it works, It's simple to do also. Search the forum as I think I posted about this last year.
  2. What about the JCM weekend, They were drum rear? I have all the parts needed to convert to a disk if you need them. I have a good complete marzcocchi 35mm front end, forks, brace, Spindle & Yokes. I've been collecting JCM stuff for a few years now but mostly Villa engines and stuff. Mind you this JCM will be mostly Beta and Gas Gas when I've finished!!
  3. There are 2 different types of Banjo fittings M12 (older style) and M10 Newer style. As long as the ajp caliper has the same size it will work. Otherwise you will have to get a hose made up with a different bottom fitting. Check 1st to make sure you get the right caliper. I'm not sure what size the formulas use, Someone will surely post the info for you.
  4. White Spray Grease just over 3 quid a can or chain spray. http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Automotive/d60/Lubricants+Sprays/sd2795
  5. Just seen a pic of an Ossa engine, They have used the Ossa head and barrel for the pic mounted on a normal gearbox. The Ossa Exhaust port and water outlet is in the same place and the ossa works lovely. I thought the exhaust port looked high but I'm glad you mentioned it first instead of me.
  6. Thinking about Borat.................. Anagrams, bor4t. Ha Ha.
  7. I was refering to Borat, but I love the banter on here...Where's Dad and Nige to liven things up!!!
  8. That's very cheap for a 2011 Gas Gas boy, As far as gear goes search for wulfsport kids trials gear and you will find a black and grey set that are very nice and cheap!!!!!
  9. You missed the water outlet in the head pointing the wrong way. It's only a picture but with that exhaust port it would rev like a crosser when you finally get it wound up! Unless the port is lower in the cylinder and it flows upwards before it exits the barrel. The clutch looks interesting, If it worked and I had the money I would buy one, Lets face it in terms of price I know 4rt owners who spend more than that on titanuim bolts and spindles.
  10. My favorite bike to ride is the Gas Gas, But If I was looking in that age and price range I would have a Rev 3 hands down.
  11. Ah yeah, Just read the post again, the last comment didn't read right, Not important so I won't go into it. It seems like tyre choice is down to riders ability so different riders will perceive that one tyre is better than another. I'll stick to Mich, to be honest in the mud my bike's a unicycle anyway!! So with tyre choice, the best advice is look at what the good riders use, riders at that level know what works. I haven't tried the Gecko tyre but look at them with an open mind, I wouldn't risk my money on one till I have tried one properly but as the saying goes don't knock it till you've tried it.
  12. Cutting the spring isn't a good idea, The throttle is very light anyway compared to the dellorto setup, You're wise to get a new spring. Your jetting seems rich enough so should not be a problem. The slide is leaner then the normal 3.5. (unless they changed on the 14 models) I found the sherco's run best with the same jets and needle you have but with a 3 slide to cure the lean bottom end at 0 to 1/4 throttle. Change the spring and double check for air leaks again, Check the fuel pump vacuum pipe, I believe on the 2014 they are taken from the crankcase instead of the manifold check for leaks and make sure it's not pinched. Also check all the fuel pipes and make sure they are connected the right way round.
  13. No not sponsored by them, I've been Michelin trained technically but not for trials tyres. I have brought 2 bikes that had new IRC tyres on them and changed to mich after 1 ride, 1st one I put down to a bad batch but 2nd one was just as useless. I wouldn't take off a brand new tyre and buy another 80 quid tyre for the sake of it. I know people who think V-Rubbers are good but mind you they do have 24 hour drinking and fight over pennies!!
  14. I've had a search but can't find any pics. I know they have had cooling problems since they changed to the smaller rads, All the factory bikes are using the old rad and even older thermostat set up. I'm all for electric water pumps if they are built well, Let's face it the mechanical ones are not too reliable anyway. It's a shame you can't get an uprated CSP mechanical pump like they do for Beta and Sherco's.
  15. Could be a blocked pilot still, The hole is minute so check it again and maybe pass a thin piece of copper wire through it to make sure it's clear. Also an air leak is still possible, do a search on here to see how to test. Is the fuel pipe pinched under the air box? Check the 1 way tank breather under the rear mudguard. Check the float height, There is a diagram on splatshop's website. The sherco's are jetted quite lean anyway from standard but you should not have a hanging idle. I'm betting on air leak or fuel shortage. Good luck!
  16. Hi Stuart, Yeah it's me. I use whatever ATF the motor factors have in at the time dex2 or dex 3, It's usually about 12 quid for 5 litres so I change it every 2 rides. I have never had a problem with atf swelling clutch plates. The gas gas factory were recommending it for a while. I used atf in the gas gas boy for 3 years after fitting a new clutch, I checked the clutch just before selling it and was still like new, The little clutch plates in it do take a hammering in the auto as it's designed to slip most of the time so I'm confident with ATF after that. Your lad had a very good ride, Give him a couple of trials and he won't worry about the clutch, He's gonna be top of the group next year!
  17. The X11 is a great tyre, Slightly better than an x lite in the mud but you have to let them down a bit more I run X lites because I don't see sharp rocks like you get up north and the unsprung weight saving is a plus. I run them at I guess around 8 psi, But saying that I spend most time on the back wheel in the mud to grip anyway. The irc is no match for a michelin full stop, If they were much cheaper they would be a viable option but the price difference makes them a stupid investment when an extra tenner will get you a proper tyre. I would rather run a half bald mich than an IRC again.
  18. Hi Mate, The fan will only come on once in a blue moon in winter, It's a small pot with a full size rad and waterpump. The fan switch in the newer bikes is mounted in the rad and the switch is junk. I have gone back to the earlier in line one with the hose. Will be doing the same to my 300 soon. Clutch drag is a pain in all the pro engines, My son's 80 runs the Italian AM6 engine but still gets a bit of drag, especially when cold using putoline light gear oil, Personally I don't rate the putoline products, the 2 stroke separates very quickly if left. I will be going back to Ipone when I've used it up. I normally use ATF in my gearboxes as it's the best at reducing clutch drag but it gives a sharper clutch, In 1st gear on the 80 my son just dropes the clutch any way so it will not be a problem when I change to ATF in his too. The clutch drag on gas gas is a side effect of the design, Most people learn to live with it, When I have mine apart next I will be going over the clutch to come up with a mod to fix it. Maybe change to the flexi type levers as they have more adjustment scope in 2 points so you may get more travel on the master cylinder. If you are stuck give me a shout and I will have a look.
  19. Hi Duncan, walthamchasetrials.co.uk. We are a large club that has 5 different routes to cater for all ablility's. Our main classes are geared towards 40 to 80 year old clubmen. Safety is our main concern when setting out as most of us have to go to work on a monday. We have lots of youth members also to keep safe and we are a very well organised but also very laid back club. We have twinshocks too but most ride them in the clubman classes as the way we set out makes the twinshocks as competitive as the monos. We also run a seperate youth and wobblers series throughout the summer. Waterside is also a very good club with most trials being in the New forest area.
  20. The Beta will be your best bet, Very strong & well built, Easy to calm down. I had one the same, Lovely bike. You don't want an 02 280 Gas Gas Full Stop. I know these bikes they have been at our club so they are honest. Grab the Beta you will not regret it. If your riding down south give me a shout if you need any help.
  21. Yeah he's better than Bou, Pat Smage just chose not to be a multi multi world champion!!!!! Seriously now!! Get him in an arena with bou and get them to take it in turns to entertain a crowd with freestyle show off tricks. He ain't beating Bou in a trial we all know that.
  22. This is why land for trials is hard to find as muppets riding around some woods somewhere without a permit or insurance or protective gear give the sport a bad name. Just because it's quiet and no houses are near doesn't mean its legal! We lost one of the best grounds down south as someone thought they could just get a bike and ride it where they want and broke their back. Our sport will not survive if this continues.
  23. O.K the vertigo is still a prototype bike. It will be tested by world level riders on world level sections so 30bhp is not a problem, They are showing what they can do and how capable the bike will be. The production bikes will probably be offered in 125, 250 and 300 in different states of tune so no need to all get your knickers in a twist about it just yet!! When they get to 35bhp give me a shout and I'll put my name on the waiting list LOL!
