  1. Tyres came today. I cant believe how soft and sticky these boots are compared to my old Michelin.
  2. It's a small world you never know. It was a red bike...or was it blue no, it was 100% red....the bike was a brand new bike when it was plated. Bought, stripped, plated, reassembled then used at Cliffe first time out. It may of come from Commerfords.....you may wish to stick one of these decals on it.....I say that, but Sturdey's keep buzzing around my head for some reason....back in the day a non-franchise dealer could still do a deal with a franchised dealer, the franchise dealer having a smaller mark up but still getting a sale...from memory Sturdeys were into rice grinder's not Bultaco, so may of come via Commerfords? https://www.isaydingdong.co.uk/ourshop/prod_3006120-Comerfords-Ltd-Motorcycle-Dealers-Sticker-25.html
  3. I've done the same thing but on a 4 stroke mower Drained the fuel out, in with the unleaded, bit of carb' cleaner on the spark plug and fired straight up! I don't think I would steam clean the tank out on the Bully, I would hazard a guess that it may give you more probs than you started with. It's difficult to get everything out of a tank, maybe leave the tank in the boiler room for a while.....I'm writing that assuming everyone like myself has oil fired central heating in a seperate boiler room...sorry. I have on occasion turned a trials bike completely over with the plug out to clear a crankcase...Monty 315R with a failed carb' needle valve that filled the engine. But even that didn't give any starting issues afterwards. It always tempting to try second guessing the issue but if it was 100% before the diesel fuel then, well you know the rest. My guess is she needs a good full load run to clear her out? .....it won't be long before a failed condensor is mentioned
  4. You know that trick with disc brakes about getting them very hot then cooling the disc quickly with water? Well I wonder if this could be transferred somehow to drums....I don't know maybe, heating the drum brakeface using a flame? Just thinking out loud, some swear by that water on the disc method.
  5. Bit late to the party but these bike chocks are brilliant, fantastic, excellent et al. Originally bought for my road bikes for track days as strapping down and securing sports bikes with fairings is a real chore to avoid damage. It really is one of those items I wish I'd bought years ago. They start at £30 ish but heavy duty ones are £45 as used for my GSX-R750, Firestorm etc and bolt onto the floor. In fact they work so well it only requires two small straps just for piece of mind. Picture below is similar but mine has two securing mounts up front but you get the idea http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301071174223
  6. Excellent vid, shows just how exaggerated the body english is.Thanks for help guys
  7. No good for me sir as I play bass....I'll slap a few Mark Adams choons out and then jump on Speedy 'n see if the funk helps. May the funk be with you.
  8. Took a lot of calls to track down a pair of rears today. I'm told no more expected until December and prices on the up again.
  9. Good point....I'm off to file them all off the SWM now, front AND back for added fastness
  10. I think the old girl may need a new front sprocket
  11. Found this link if anyone else needs help. Models with pics but larger engined variants only.
  12. Hmm.....according to gasser site this could be a 1999. Decals do read Contact TXT125
  13. Ouch, fair old clout on the n/s frame but shouldn't be a deal breaker?
  14. Yes, I know its an old 'ern but their is one local'ish to me for sale at a reasonable price. From what I remember they were a sound well built bike in their day befoe the early Pro's? Anything other than the usual for an old bike to look for? It's only for an occasional use for when the SWM is being fettled so not expecting great shakes. I should add maybe a 2001? It's only what I think it is, nothing in ad'! See picture. many thanks guys
  15. Pulling the trigger on a new rear tyre, my riding buddy tells me I should go for a IRC locally at £75 inclusive. Are they OK on SWM standard rims? Currently running a 4 year old Michelin, that's hard as nails, which has never sat right on the rim properly, one side is always higher than the other no matter how many times we fit the tyre so I look like (yes, I know and ride like!) Coco the Clown
  16. Fantastic find. We got married at Hartland Abbey back in err....sorta....2008'ish....I hope the wife don't read this! We always stay at Gawlish Farm BnB John and Jill and I feel it's about time we revisited and maybe explore all that Hartland has to offer....
  17. Yup, not enough lean and not enough pokey out knees....put in some practice today but bad habits are a pain to unlearn. I wish I'd taken some proper tuition when I started trials. Thanks for the help guys
  18. I wore my enduro helmet all day at Corten Trials Park today. I had been wearing it whilst practicing in my woods but Corten was the big test for me. I now don't think about it being odd. DIdn't get any hotter than if I'd worn my open face and with the nasty lumps of concrete they have at Corten, I gota say I felt a tad more comfortable in the super slippery conditions. As for vision, not an issue....one might say if you are looking down where the chin guard is maybe you should be looking further up the section. I've purchase a Six Six One helmet as in the start of the thread as its 50% lighter with more vents so I'll chime back when I've tried that. Its all a very personal thing but I can't see my self going back to open face at the moment. hope this helps
  19. As with the Wulfsport gloves I used these today at Corten in the cold and rain and wished I had bought them years ago. Size fits well too. I got the bottoms at Sports Direct in a sale for £4, usually £10, same as the top but even for £20 the pair great value as they do what say on the tin.
  20. Been at Corten Trials Park today and it was cold, frost on ground when we left home. It also rained on and off all day. I bought some black Wulfsport neoprene trials gloves and this was the first time I used them. Toasty warm hands and fingers all day, thin enough not to notice them. I really suffer from the cold although on the plus side I can sit out in 42c all day lounging around. I bought large as my hands are 10cm across the palm and they fit correctly. Excellent purchase for £18, wish I'd bought some years ago. Tried everywhere for grey but not around in large and Wulfsport are dropping the grey according to my supplier...?
  21. Some great points there guys. Been watching some vids this afternoon.....theres a lot of guys with their feet on the very outside of the outside footpeg and rolling there ankle out too......theres a LOT more to these turns than meets the eye!
  22. Currently using a slow action throttle on mine AND lower gearing than standard.....and she is quite a tame old thing at the moment. For ref' Domino use a black throttle tube for slow and white tube for quick.

    Compression

Lots of compression = engine in good fettle. One way to easier kicking is to slowly ease her past top dead centre (piston at top of stroke) and then kick her over smartly. A lots of beefy adults struggle to kick a decent trials bike over....the short kickstarts dont help. My SWM has a decompressor which I wouldn't be without now, but modern bikes dont have this feature.
