any updates on the flywheel front gentlemen?
-
Thanks Tony, interesting post.
I'm wishing I'd measured up my Beta REV with relation to footpeg height/position/ handlebar height and my hips....sort of 'golden triangle' she fitted like glove, but was always surprised how little ground clearance she had and the footrests felt like a low riders compared to my SWM!
-
Many thanks Woody...if Carlsberg were into twinshock questions...
-
Moving footrests back and down is a common theme, what has changed since these bikes were designed ( by very bright people) to make moving the footrests beneficial?
-
Thanks for that.....that looks like a late bike with the ali swing arm etc but running zokes on the front....with mudguard stay to suit?
Handlebars look low and footrests rear and down?
-
A t/s rookie question, I keep seeing this reference to the 'more modern riding position'....is it simply lower footrests or are riders looking for more than that?
...for instance what is the more 'modern handlebar positioning'....where does the 'body' sit 'in' the bike etc.
...is it all just an aid to go from new to old t/s's or is the 'modern position' a better set-up period?
I've owned 4 trials bikes, 1980 Sherpa 250, 2003 Monty 315R, 2002 Beta REV and now my 1980 SWM if that helps someone to explain things..but never owned more than one at a time!
thanks for your patience guys

As an aside is it possible to get parts for these old zokes and betors such as bushings etc?
-
Obviously bigger balls than myself!
-
Apologies if this been posted before but this was an eye opener for a novice to the t/s like myself, I need to get some seat time in, enjoy.

the errm, 'fun', starts from 1:31 seconds in....
.....the completion of the 'plug cap removal' act could of been fairly exciting...

Beautiful looking Bultaco, thanks for posting that.
...9kg is a LOT of weight to loose...20lbs for the imperial generation like myself I have to ask how and where did you manage such a large drop?
-
B40rt you are a star sir, thanks.
.....I do seem to have too many parts in the rear axle though......a few large washers? I did wonder why so many when stripping down...she must of collected a few over the years!
-
May have found something.....Triumph/Norton fuel tank rubbers of all things...I'll chime back with results and parts numbers/ supplying source if sucessful...but looking good from measurements price at £5 a pair
-
Well just when you think you have done everything correctly during a strip down to help with the rebuild fate throws a spanner in the works.....like knocking over my temporary storage bench whilst parts are drying AND deleting strip down photos...doh!
I now have all the front and rear axle assembly parts all mixed up, I can seperate most of the parts (most!) and but their 'as built' order is also hopelessly lost.
Would anyone have a drawing/ photo of front and rear axle assemblies?
Many thanks

Colin....if he's the old boy in his 70's yes he still does, lovely guy.

well ye.... but with something to work with I maybe able to match to something already available and save us all some hassle in the future..we are but guardians of these bikes afterall

Hi guys, anyone know of a source for TL320 fuel tank to frame mounting rubbers...the doughnuts that sit at the front of the tank that the tank 'slides' into?
I spoke with Martin at SWM.Moto and no luck....must be something around that can do the job...Honda TL125 ones won't!
A quick google finds tank rubbers out there but I don't have old rubbers to go by - mine are missing - I can try and source some rubbers but I need a photo of one to go by and some dimensions would be real handy too. If anyone could help on that front I'd be grateful and pass on what I find.
many thanks
-
Plus another!
....I'm sooooooo glad I went to the yellow side with support as good as Martins
