  1. ACU licence finally arrived on Saturday. Not going to have time to fit the tow bar so I will have to use the van which means pulling the seats out Thursday after work but still intending on getting there.
  2. Hi Sparky Just started trials myself, had MX bikes when I was a kid, then road bikes from 19 until I wrote my last one off in October. I wanted to buy a Scorpa SY250 since I had heard good things about the Yamaha engine reliability. Unfortunately the only one even close to here was a dog and on sale for £1300. So I took some advice from my local trials club who said that really any of the good makes were worth having - Beta, Sherco, Montesa etc. Was steered away from Gas Gas due to reliabliity. Finally bought a 2002 Sherco 250 for £890 off ebay from a local guy. Seems solid enough, chucked some coolant out on my first ride which I need to resolve but overall I am very happy with it. Good luck and enjoy.
  3. Oh well, didn't work out that I could get away in time. Next round is Thursday 2nd August 2012, now all I need to do is get everything else to play ball and fit my new towbar to get there.
  4. Anyone riding round 1 of the summer dried tonight ? I was supposed to be riding my first trial with Ringwood a couple of weeks ago but the missus had a baby so that stopped my debut. Going to try and ride this trial tonight if the day works out that way.
  5. Don't own one myself but often use my mate's Go Pro and have no complaints with it. I particularly recommend the gimp harness mounting either on your chest or on your back, although some trackday operators are getting funny about this now. Some footage of me at Mallory Park, the tyres were shot, that is my excuse du jour and I am sticking to it. Some good film of Niall McKenzie nearly taking out a faster rider whilst instructing at 06:20 http://vimeo.com/14276140
  6. Should explain she has a history of pre-term labour so went in with some concerns on Sunday, only really starting labouring on Tuesday early morning. Baby arrived at 26 weeks 3 days and 1lb 6ozs in weight so she will be in the NICU for a bit but she is doing well for her size so far.
  7. Yes the fan comes on. Been a bit delayed getting the tools out, my missus went into hospital on Sunday and gave birth to our daughter on Wednesday morning. Will update on the bike once I get the chance to look at it again.
  8. Will do. Competitive debut is now on hold anyway due to other factors.
  9. Thanks guys. The first time we noticed it was only a few drips hitting the exhaust and steaming off, I stopped the bike immediately to check it but couldn't see where it was coming from so put it down to a bit of splash from a puddle or something. Second time it was coming out in proper big drips so I stopped it and found the overflow hose when I started the bike and let it run for a while it started dripping from the hose again. I will check the level in the radiator, hopefully it has just been a bit overfilled and will find its own level.
  10. Just bought a 2002 Sherco 250, never owned a trials bike before so no level of knowledge to start from. Basically I took it our for my first ride today and after a while the radiator overflow started leaking coolant which stopped when it cooled down then came back much worse when I started riding again. The vendor says the coolant was changed when he serviced the bike before selling it and they all do that and it is nothing to worry about whilst I am now worried about head gaskets or possibly even a cracked head presurising the cooling system. I am supposed to be riding my first ever trial on Thursday so can anyone confirm if this is normal? Or should I drain and flush the cooling system then refill it so I know it is not overfilled and check the water pump impeller and the thermostat. Thanks
  11. Hi Decided to give trials a go, so bought a bike and the internet brought me here when I started asking it questions about it. I am in Dorset. Bike is a 2002 Sherco 250. Had my first ride today, loved it, back to the simple fun that bikes were when I was a kid. Dom1
