Hi all, Does anyone know where I am best to have a cylider replated? And how much is charged for this? I'm not sure if its worth me doing it or not to be honest. I bought a 2003 200 pro last july, I then fitted: Water pump seal & shaft Piston kit (A) inc little end Clutch kit renthal bars Rewired to replace bodged lighting Fork seals A few rides later it had a linkage bearing kit In november I bought a 2010 250 pro, so its not been rode since. 2 trials prior to this I fitted new rear tyre, chain and sprokets and brake pads to it 1 ride prior to this I fitted a new front tyre This week, I have replaced the big end, gear box bearings and idler gear. I will have missed loads of other little bits and bobs its had along the way too. Now that everything in the bottom end is sorted, all I can focus on when running it is piston slap due to the worn coating. As you can imagine, I've already spent twice the value of the bike on it, despite just wanting to sell it to free up space in the garage. I'm really not willing to let it go for under £1000, bearing in mind the work its had done and that the piston slap doesnt affect the bikes running or pose any significant risk, am I likely to be able to sell it? Or will a rattle scare everyone off? Let me know your thoughts Cheers, Carl

Coop Its the kind of slaping big end, rumbling gear box and clattering idler gear that probably should have been adressed 2 owners ago, maintenance.

Today......................was expensive.

Thanks for the advice Sting, I'll fit the replacement with cable ties, I can't promise I won't not to bin it again though. Hmm, sorry, I've just read what I wrote and no its not very clear. I entered another trial this weekend and had the same issue. I tend to make dabs, when I get to a point where there is not enough space to turn the bike by just riding around a corner. So either just a very tight turn, and like you say, often immediatly before or after an obstacle. I had a go on some of the red routes at the end of the day and got through the bigger obstacled fairly easily, but the part I found hardest was a 180 degree turn. Just a hop or two of the front wheel would have been sufficient. I have miles of derelict clay pits near my house, which has just about every challenge you can think of smoewhere in it, so Ill have a search for areas which cause me the same grief and focus on them. Cheers, Carl

Hi all, Well I've had an interesting first few months riding trials. I bought a txt 200 which needed a little end replacing. That was a nice simple swap, but on stripping the bike down I discovered that the petrol tank and exhaust both needed welding. Once these were all sorted, the first time I rode it the gearbox oil turned into milk. So I stripped it down to replace it to find shagged clutch plates too. I replaced these, went out, and came back home with oil down the fork leg and the previously repaired rear mudguard missing. I don't know if its usual on txt's, but the seal was a nightmare to fit? Since then its behaved itself (except from occasionally refusing to start when very hot), so I entered my first trial a few weeks back. The club were fantastic and showed me around the course. So thanks to Peterborough Trials Club. I had a great day and finished 6th which was a good considering I looked at the first section in the morning in a completly bewildered manner. The next trial is this weekend, so the aim is to improve on 6th. I've been practising as much as possible since, but seem to have no trouble getting up/over obstacles getting towards handlebar height now yet struggle hopping the front a rear end. Is this usual? Or am I learning in the wrong order? Finally, are there patten rear mudguards available anywhere? I replaced the one which came on the bike then proptly snapped it off. I don't fancy coughing up £70-80 for a new OE. Or is it a case of waiting for one to come up for a good price second hand on a certain auction site? Any comment would be much appreciated, Regards, Carl

HI all, So would you go for the same 10/42 on a 200 pro? or does the requirement tend to vary between models? Also, would a sproket kit intended for a 125 fit a 200?

Thank you chaps. I'll clean it all out and chuck new frictions and steels in and just keep an eye on it. I bought the bike with the little end problem and I dont know what it had been ran on before, but the fuel in the tank seemed very light on oil. Having raced a tzr 250, which my engine builder recommended 30:1 I dont dare go further than 50:1, it seems too much like tempting fate. I'm running Putoline full sythetic 2-stroke, MX-7 I think and a light putoline gear oil. Again, thanks for the help

Hi all, Its now the second sunday in a row I've had my txt in bits. Last week it was due to a knackered little end, this week its done the water pump seal. Unfortunatly on draining the milk from the gearbox i noticed a bit of swarf on the sump plug. I've pulled the clutch cover off and on taking the pressure plate/spring out found lots of metallic/gloopy mess, but the rest of the case seems pretty clear on this side? The friction plates are all in one piece too. Has anyone ever came accross this before?? I've also notice the wiring loom is pretty butchered and wouldn't mind getting a new loom knocked up, but I'll need a wiring diagram for that, does anyone know where I can get a workshop manual from? Any help would be appriciated and go some way in extinguishing the flames of my baptism of fire into trials biking. Regards, Carl.

Hi All, It's looking rather like im going to need a new big end bearing for my txt. Does anyone know what my options are (UK)? Can you buy main bearings, rods and big end bearings seperately? Is the crank even rebuildable? Are complete new cranks available? and if so how much £££ am I looking at? Any help would be much appreciated, Cheers, Carl Newbigging

Thanks rev, I'll give them a bell tomorrow. The previous owner hadn't got a clue. He just said "Its a bit rattley". I was pretty sure it was just a little end on viewing so I took the plunge. I've just got it home and stripped it down and sure enough the little end is knackered. The piston and nikasil plating is all in good condition but I'll be sticking a pistion and pin in whilst I'm in there. Cheers, Carl

Hi All, I've just bought my first trials bike, a 2003 Gas Gas txt200. Is there anything I should know about trials? Any advice would be much appreciated. My bike also needs a new little end bearing, where is the best place to get these from? I cant find anywhere selling them online? Many thanks, Carl Newbigging
