  1. The Beta manual says 1.5% synthetic oil fuel mix which is 75ml per 5lt, but i must admit I think the last batch of fuel I got was 96 octain.
  2. Thanks fellas I am using shell fuel but not the high octane Vfuel. mixing 75ml of putoline 2t oil to 5lt of petrol. I guess it may be the air fuel mix, I will have to have a look & re-set it today. The engine has not been retarded or advanced but I guess wear can change settings. I will get some V fuel today.
  3. Isn't pinking like over running? to much fuel? This may sound strange but it sounds like shaking a stone in a plastic bottle. It sounds plastic & metal rather than metal on metal. I don't feel any lost of power though.
  4. Hi All I know this title has been asked before but not quite what I have on my bike. the bike is fine on tickover & fine reving out of gear & fine just riding about but when I ride up long steep banks or put the engine under allot of strain it feels like something is rattling. its not all the time but enough for me to start worrying about it. Its feels like a stone being dragged under the front mudguard & ratting through & it sounds exactly the same, but its not. Any ideas please? thanks
  5. Hi I used to have IRC tyres on my trials bike but changed to Michelin x11s when the time came for new ones. Now I have a new bike with Michelin on & the time is coming for a new set of tyres & I must say I liked the IRCs more. I heard that IRC tyres had developed a problem though & they were popping of the rims. is this still the case or have they got over the problem?
  6. Well this is the end of this post for me! this bike has been sold, I upgraded to a 2013 Beta Evo 300. I hope the new owner of the 250 likes the bike as much as I did.farewell my trusty steed.

    Rim Stickers

I must admit they work for me, & look good on my Evo 300
  8. Hi All Is the fuel mix for the 2013 Beta Evo still about 63ml to 5l of fuel? thanks
  9. I was looking at a Montesa 4rt but I was not sure about the weight & the engine braking.
  10. I hear what you are saying. Of course I want the bike that suits my riding style the best but I also want one the is easy to maintain, does not break after each little bash, something that will last & hold it value when looked after. Good luck I here you say!
  11. I am in the market for a new trials bike. I currently ride an 2009 Beta Evo 2t 250 on stiffer springs all round. I have heard the pros & cons of many bikes but wanted to know what the over all opinions are of which is the best new bike to buy?

    Evo Rear Brake

My Bike is a 2009 Evo so I have the remote reservoir. I have not cooked the brake pads & the pads are fairly new, I fitted them a few months ago. when you look down at the caliper from behind the bike, the piston on the side that the brake hose is moves more than the opposite side. are they supposed to move the same distance?

    Evo Rear Brake

    Evo Rear Brake

I have been having an irritating problem with my rear brake. Not a performance issue really it still works, just a squeak when riding. I think one of the pistons works more that the other, is this a common issue? I removed the rear wheel today & pushed both pistons back into the caliper( took some doing) cleaned everything up & refitted the wheel, thinking that when I pressed the brake, it would push in the pistons the required amount & set the required brake firmness. This did not happen & the foot brake only provided & small amount of movement on the pistons. they were just coming out when pressing the brake & going back in when letting the brake off. I had to take the wheel back off & pump the brake to get the pistons to close the gap & then re fit the wheel again. This has got the brakes working again but I still feel it has not sorted the problem. Its not squeaking at the moment but I think it will start again due to one piston not moving back as much as the other. Do I need to resign myself to fitting a new set of piston seals & brake master piston seal kit? thanks
  15. Well I took the flyweight off & spent the whole day out on my bike yesterday. I Loved it, much more responsive, power on almost instant when I wanted it & off when I wanted rather than getting that slight delay & the pushing feeling when coming off the revs. I need to do some more testing in the wet as the ground was hard & frozen yesterday. I must say I could feel the bike better, when I did loose traction I could feel it & adjusted the revs & riding position to suit. Highly recommended even if just to have a go & compare.

    Evo Shock Bearings,

I feel your pain having just bought 2 for my bike along with a full set for the dog bones. expensive!
  17. I guess it is easier to get the front wheel up. Does the engine rev up quicker & shut off quicker?
  18. How easy it is to get off? I can see the two big screws that need undoing. what do you do after that? do you just pop it off forward? thanks
  19. Sound advice chaps thanks. I guess the fly weight will be staying on.
  20. Hi All Can you tell me what the fly wheel weight is for? What benefits there are for keeping it on or removing it? I am thinking of removing mine & wondered how it would change the handling of the bike.
  21. I noticed a little play on the rear wheel the other day while washing the bike off. new bearings fitted = no more play.
  22. Hi Can somebody tell me what is the difference between the 2012 bikes & the 2013 bike, apart from age & price of course.
  23. Nice one Eddie, Charltons is a cracking place. A few friends & I just started trial riding last year & love it. £1500 will get you a good bike. I ride a 250 beta evo which cost a little more than that but a good Rev3 or sherco will be quite easy to find. Buy one in good condition rather than age. The lads & I are also looking for other places to ride, Northeast Carting is one, maybe join croft motor club.
  24. 44 year old, started in summer last year with a 250cc beta evo. I think it has the correct power for me.
  25. I had a go today after noting the advise above & sure enough much much better. I moved my handlebars back a little to make sure i had most of my body weight on the pegs & hey presto 30 seconds stood still first time around, great!
