Drives me nuts as well. I have had my bike for a few month's. some days out riding, i do okay. other days not so good. on the drive with no engine on I am the same as you. stood still bouncing the bike - no chance as yet!
-
Right latest update, new fly wheel cover, new chain guard, new rear brake disc guard, new rear shocker bearing sets, new dog bone bearings & sleeves all fitted.
Next, I want new stiffer front & rear suspension springs
-
I need to get practicing. At the moment I feel like i am going to come to a sudden stop.
-
Well I thought I had it covered with a lanyard kill switch. when I fall off the bike is already switching off on its way to the ground. I have pulled the cord when the throttle is stuck open & the bike has stopped but I guess I have just been lucky reading this post.
I like the sound of blocking the exhaust.
-
Sorry tohear about your bike mate. This has always been a worry of mine. to counteract the problem if it ever arrises, I fitted a lanyard kill switch. it has saved me & the bike a few times, well worth the money. I have also fitted a pull cord to the spark plug ht lead just incase I need to stop the spark without getting electrocuted. I never had to so far.
Fingers crossed it is not too expensive for you.

Well I finally got out on my bike yesterday after all the bad weather. there was still a covering of snow on the ground, adding to the fun.
I tried a few of the suggestions above & had some success. I still have a great deal of practice before it becomes second nature.
Close shave when I managed to stall the bike in on top of rock in mid wheely. I wish I had it on film, I nearly went over the handlebars but still managed to keep hold of the bike & not fall off.lol.

Hi
The putoline light gear oil that I use is clear when new & cloudy light grey when removed after about 15 riding hours.
-
I love mine. easy to work on & maintain. I love to by stuff for it that it doesn't need.
-
Are your handle bars too far forward? so you have to lean on your bars to reach? how tall are you?
-
The other thing I struggle with is hitting near the top of an obstetrical with my front wheel to allow the bike to carry on over without hitting the bash plate.
I am much better at the wheely over the top & using the rear wheel to bring the front of the bike down.
-
I must admit I usually have it covered. one of the first things I learnt was one finger clutch control.
-
Your so right! at first I used to give it a go every time the lads used to say go on then you can do it, lol. I would say 9.5 x out of 10 I would fall off with no control. I know that sounds odd- fall off with control but I bet you all know what I mean.
I never used to be able to control the bike in my first few outings so the falls started to become expensive. it was when I ended up launching my bike up a tree & braking both mudguards clean off that I took a step back & started to learn trials right from the beginning.
I am about 5 months in now, only riding once a week over winter & can not believe what I am capable of compared to the start.
Apart from the confidence & small obstetrical's I manage to get over, the biggest change is that now I can fall off my bike with grace & keep control to minimize any damage.
Such a long way to go before I get anywhere near where I would like to be. I feel at 44 my knees will give up before I do.

Thank you very much for all the advise guys. Food for thought & some good points that I believe will help me no end.
I will let you all know how I get on next weekend.
thanks again, keep the suggestions coming though. I don't get much advise from my riding friends because we are all novice's.
-
Funny you should mention my riding position: I have just started to notice the strain on the back of my neck when riding, just from trying to look where I am going.
I have moved my bars forward in the past because at that time I thought/ felt I needed some extra space. I wonder if I need to adjust them back a little to suit my present riding style. I am only 5.10" so I didn't think I would need taller bars but this may help also.
-
Looks like fun to me. the first jump was a classic. LOL
-
I do shut it off in mid air, its when I land it all go's wrong. seems to be okay if I land on back wheel, its when I lad on the front wheel.
-
Same story for me, Have fun.
-
Class, I like the last bit,

When I jump my bike over logs & rocks I have a problem with either putting more revs on when landing the front wheel or collapsing my wrist forward.
I don't think I have particularly weak wrists but if I do I better start training them?
It happens when I land on the front wheel first & my weight shifts forward on the bike.
Any help or advise appreciated.

I bought my Dave Cooper second hand thinking it was the correct one for my small camper van. I used it a few times with no problems & then one day out of the blue the bike handlebars smashed the rear window, Yes the bike was secure it happened on a flat road!
When I looked into it I think mine must be for a car. I need to make a spacer for it now to stop it from happening again.

Hi
I was thinking of buying & fitting a new heavy duty bash plate to by Bets evo 250. I know it is hard to refit a used one due to them usually being miss shaped after use but how hard is it to fit a new one?
Will I still have as much of a problem or should it be fairly easy?
cheers

When I had my forks refurbed, I was offered an aluminium section to fit instead of the pre load tube it was just a nicely dressed up aluminium section of pipe with the correct internal size & slightly longer than the pre load tube to compress the original spring in order to make it a little stiffer. So I guess it is not than hard? just measure the combined length of the new spring & make a new pre load tube. Just thinking though I am no expert.
-
I would also like to know what is recommended being 14 + stone, please? I have just had my fronts refurbished & that made a world of difference. now I just want the rear to be a little more reactive.
-
Be careful, they do hurt more when you fall off.
