  1. So...

Changed the oil manufacturer about a month ago as per recommendations above, and yes there was an improvement. Still not 100% to my taste though, lacked the bite I was looking for and the soft feel in engagement was still there.

Ordered the 2013 clutch pack and installed tonight, so far I'm really really happy. I noticed that the new clutch is slightly thinner than the older one and the surfaces are different so for sure they have done some changes to the specs.

I've only been on the bike for about ten minutes tonight and so far,

    - significantly reduced drag when cold

    - much more distinctive bite

Tomorrow evening is the next practice time, will write up a review as soon as I get back. Maybe the dramatic changes are due to the brand new clutch pack and new oil, maybe it's a kick as modd, we will see... :)

  2. I would say all bikes produced today are good bikes, try them all and go for the one that suit you best. The Ossa suits me well ( I have a 2011), bike has a fantastic suspension and so far it's shown good quality. If I could change anything it would be the clutch, I want more precise engagement. This has been addressed by Ossa and the newer clutch plates should be better I've heard. ( 2013 specs clutch is in the mail from my dealer, will write up a review once tested)

  3. First training with the domino grips fitted today.... Really happy with the result, suits my hands better and I can relax more in my grip. When I took them out of the box I was a bit skeptic as they are just slightly thicker than your std trials grip and I wasnt sure they'd do the trick. Very grippy, slightly thicker than renthals etc but slightly harder feel due to the dual layer compound.

    I'm happy!

Thanks for the ideas and suggestions!

    K.

  4. Thanks for good answers!

Interesting that the factory are testing different specs on the clutch, in my opinion it is the weak spot on an otherwise super sweet ride. ( or it could just be that it is not to my taste... ;) )

Nope, haven't even seen the bike for the last week so haven't changed oil yet. Will do before the next ride which should be Saturday if all works out :)

  5. I noted on the 2013 specs that the clutch is updated, I've asked my dealer for an "update" kit to improve clutch feel and bite.

    From 2013 launch text,

    - Improved clutch, for better and softer feel:

    · Larger diameter of oil channel on clutch cover

    · Thicker hose.

    - New clutch discs: new friction material and longer lasting

Anybody who know more in detail what the "larger diameter of oil channel on clutch cover" stands for and if this can be achieved by modding the "old" cover?

    Thanks

  6. Do you think it's needed? My bike is 20hrs from new and once I had the x13 map downloaded into the bike it fires up on the first kick from cold or hot. I understand it's pending from bike to bike and some has had serious starting issues but with the bike coming into its third version/MY now perhaps it's just not needed after fine tuning and other upgrades??

  7. "For me I get no power when holding onto something thin and need to squeeze my hand together constantly. "

So how do you manage to pee? Do you get both hands wet? :hyper:

I have no experience holding onto something thin p****** so can't help you out mate.

  8. Hi. How odd. I have XXXL hands and hate large grips. They did nothing for ability to grip the bike and, infact, because they were larger I had to grip harder to stop hands slipping off.

I guess it's a matter of taste then. For me I get no power when holding onto something thin and need to squeeze my hand together constantly. Much more relaxed feeling and firmer grip when holding onto a bar slightly thicker, same goes for working out in the gym - reduces pump and gives me a stronger grip. interesting that the experience is so different though.

  9. why do you want thicker grips ?

does it reduce arm pump or something?

i get it terrible, i think its cos i got massive hands.

No, no secret tricks or something. I just have ridicilously big hands so when riding with the std size grips i struggle to have a relaxed grip on the tiny diameter provided by std grips.

(at 190cm in length, size 47 in shoes and Xxl hands it's quite obvious for me that these bikes are designed for spaniards and Italians at half my size ;) )

Thanks again for all replies, Domino's on order for testing ;)

  10. Ok, Thanks. Oil is around 4 hrs so I will do a change and look for improvement. Oil has been changed 6 times over the last 18hrs though...

Back in the day we used "red" automatic gearbox oil in our Fantic's 50cc which made the clutch both engage with bite and produce no drag. Anyone tried something similar on the Ossa?? Don't want to fiddle around too much though....

  11. Hi,

Im running an Ossa 2011 with an update clutch (internals) to 2012 specs. First of all I love the bike - it is amazing in every aspect except for the clutch engagement in my opinion.

To me it seems the clutch is engaging at different positions ( a millimeter or two in or out) this occurs the first time used after heavy use ie revving and shooting off. One could say it bites slightly better after a hard use. Bike has less than 20 hrs on it - will it get better or should I consider bleeding the system, changing the clutch lever oil reservoir to a bigger size? Or just plainly used it hard to see if it beds in better?

    Thanks in advance, K.

  12. Hi,

Im looking for a bit thicker grips than the std trials grip size - any recommendations for this? (I'm aware that Mx and enduro grips are thicker but I'm looking for a more trials like grip but only thicker)

    Many thanks

    K.
