Oh and also my carb throttle cable is against the bottom of the fuel tank.... I adjusted the throttle nipple all the way down but its still touching. It needs about a 1/4 inch more clearance to not touch.... I dont want it to pop a hole in my new tank over time. Is there a more aggressive angle nipple like a 90degree would work.... pwk carb

The bead on my front tire is not fully seated. A small section of one side. Its causing my front wire to wobble as it goes down the road. I have heard of some special tubeless bead seaters. Can anyone give me some advice on this matter? Thanks!
-
Thanks guys, ill look into setting the tension.
Ive been using the zip tie trick. it had them like that when i bought the bike. Ive busted so many zipties since then.
Zippy, thats a Hen!
-
I put on my old fenders so I dont ruin my new ones. The old gas tank was junk though.
Here is how i'll be riding it from now on:
-

Woo-Hoooo I just checked with ups and my Sherco parts are going to arive on monday!
Chain tensioner, gas tank, fenders, decals all new stuff from england.,
Also I found this picture on my cellphone of my bike when I first brought it home.
Do a before and after hehe
-
Whats the story behind the Xispa?
It looks just like a Sherco
-
Bleed the hydraulics. Check the fluids
-
Thanks. No tensioner yet...it should be here within a week. I havent been riding much because of that. It will be arriving with my new gastank and fenders.
-
Me blazing over a pine stump
-
Some parts arrived today from SplatShop. New cover with o-ring and a short shiftlever. I likey.
-
I got a '09 black cover+o-ring and a short shift lever on its way.
-
http://www.splatshop.co.uk/sherco-09-ignition-cover-black.html
I saw the 2006 ignition cover but I kinda like the black 2009 better. Would the 2009 ignition cover fit my 2002?
Where do I find that short gear lever?
-
I'd love to go ride with some of those guys in the trials club.
Tony, Thanks for the images. Those are good MODs.
I'm defenantly going to spend some more mooney on my 290
-
Cope,
-Ya I took the pad off. I did it exactly how u said to do it.
-I ordered a factory carb2airbox hose from splatshop. If it dosent work, ill send you the mooney for sure.
-Thanks for the heads up on the carb mod, fuel filter and trapped water.
Tony,
-That link on splatshop website is awesome! Thanks.
-Hell ya post pictures of your setup right here! I'd like to check it out.
-
- "I'd say the previous owner removed it, you'll be able to see where it fits if you look on the underside of the swingarm just behind the footpeg"
I looked under the swimgarm and found the threads where the tensioner goes into.
-"Maintainence basically involves air filter & oil changes, pistons last for years in these"
Im happy I dont have to do major over hauls.
-"I bought the carb to airbox joint off splatshop-leave it fitted to the carb whenever you remove the airbox as it's easier to refit that way."
So the factory airbox to carb hose from spat shop works good?
-"Does yours also have a casting for another vent on the other side?"
My PWK carb does have a casting vent on the other side vent but its not functional... it looks like a vent, but upon closer inspection, there is no hole inside.
I moved the bars n stuff around. Thanks cope
-
I changed the gear box oil with maximo brand stuff and its basically cured.
-
Did a previous owner remove that part from my bike?
Whats the maintenence schedule like on these shercos?
Do you have to change pistons often as part of the maintenance?
AND my bike has a PWK carb on it. The carb was purchased by the previous owner and he did a home made install. Its got a radiator hose for the carb to airbox and the side of the carb has a breather which goes directly into the muffler can.... What options do I have here?
-
lol payment how about a never ending, ever-refilling beer Beer is as good or better than cash.
Tomorrow I'm going to do just like u said and re-route the throttle cable, move the bars forward, lift the levers, adjust and oil the chain.
Other issues I'm having is:
My gas tank is leaking between the petcock and tank... looks like its been glued a few times and its still wet with gasoline.
Also the front tire dosen't have the bead fully seated on one little spot of the left side. The tire has lots of cracks in the sidewall... looks really old but still full of tread.
Ohh I'm in north central florida up by georgia. I doubt anyone is near me....
-
I just spent $400 at the Spat Shop.
Got 2005 silver gas tank, rear fender, front fender, seat decal, fork decals and the "Sherco" frame decals.
Restore it a little bit.
-
Finally got done with the fork seals n stuff... now its time to ride!
-
Forks are on hold....
Still waiting on the wipers to arrive from canada....
I bought this bike on august 9th. I havent rode it once yet.
I cant wait to be done with all the work. I'm ready to test it out. This bike is going to blow my riding friends minds!
They have never even seen a trials bike before. No one has one around here. I've never seen one. Mine is the first trials bike I have ever seen in person.
-
I'll be ordering dust wipers Monday.
Is there any other part I should replace in the forks?
How about those brass-lookin bushings?
...on another note...
The chain tension adjuster is almost maxed out, so I think its time for new chain and sprockets.
What gear combination works good also with trail riding?
Good brand name recommendations would also be nice.
-
-
I got everything apart
The fork seal is right but I never got sold a new dust wipe seal....
I dont want to do this labor and not replace the seal(S)...
otherwise I'll be replacing the seals again when mud gets inside.
What do ya'll think about this?
Why would Ryan Young only sell me half of what I would obviously need?
