  1. Ok. Figured out you have to actually grab the pin by the threads to turn. That worked. Thanks
  2. Hi everyone. Quick question. I have a 2003 txt 280 pro and want to lower the rear brake pedal slightly. If I loosen the nut it seams I have to rotate the entire bottom assembly to raise it which would involve disconnecting it. On every other bike I have had its usually a second nut to adjust up or down. What am I missing? Thanks

    Brake Squeak

I had this problem with my last bike. Tried several solutions but the only thing that worked for me was to take off the pads and cut a cross from corner to corner each way with a hack saw. Not All the way through pads but just enough to mark the pads well. Did not notice any reduction in brake power or feel. Good luck. It sure can be annoying.
  4. I used Uship.com. They bid on transporting your bike. You will get some high bids at first but if you give a big date window you will get some cheap prices. You can accept or decline. Mine cost $120

    Selling In Usa

Craigslist.com. Is a good site to sell everything. You might try moto-trials.com also. There are regional trials clubs in most parts of the country. Good luck.
  6. I agree with everything you said. Thanks for sharing!
  7. I read somewhere that Gasgas models 2010 and newer already have a two piece head. Does that mean I can just buy a low compression insert without buying an S3 head? Does GasGas make a factory option or is it just aftermarket? Will an S3 low comprehension insert work with my factory head? Thanks.

    Messy Oil Change

Thanks. Some good ideas. I did try the kitchen one time for something to clean my filter in. Lets just say I won't make that mistake again. LOL

    Messy Oil Change

The fill point on my Txt 280 is so small I make a big mess with the ATF Anyone know where I can get a funnel small enough? What methods or tricks do you use to make it easier to fill? Thanks
  10. Bought a Sherco 2.9 last fall. First time on a trials bike and loved it. Did not feel it was too much. If you find a good deal on one I'd say go for it. Assuming you have experience on enduro bikes. BTW the 2.9 is actually a 272cc
  11. As far as hand position it's nothing technical. Just make sure you don't over rotate your hand like you want to rip the throttle wide open. While standing on bike with knees slightly bent grab the throttle straight out with a natural extension of your arm. And as others have said, cover the clutch with your finger and practice those drills for clutch control
  12. Make sure you have a little bit of free play in your throttle that does not affect the engine RPMs. Also hand position and bar position are important as well. Postition your hand so that if you yank on the bars it does not rotate the throttle or rev the engine.

    The Doctor

I disagree about the commentators being over the top. If any of the top riders would have come from 7th to finish second in as few of laps it would have been the story of the race. Rossi looked like the Rossi of old. It's great for the sport to see him back at a competitive level. I just hope he has something for Lorenzo.
  14. Well I went ahead and replaced the clutch plates with sureflex (metal plates & fiber). Also using MTL 75 weight trans oil. No change. Clutch still engaging too quick, no progressive feel. Makes it difficult to turn at full lock going slow. It's either fully engaged or not at all. Basket did have some very slight grooves but not bad. Could this be the problem? It doesn't stick when cold or have any problems starting in gear. Clutch pull is lighter than my ktm hydrolic clutch. Would heavier springs help? Frustrated.
  15. Congrats on the new bike. Its OK to leave fuel in tank for a couple of weeks. But if its going to be much longer than that I usually drain fuel from tank and carb. Been riding offroad for many years but I just bought my first trials bike. 06' Sherco 290 Wish I had done it sooner. Cheers...

    Spring/sag Question

    Great. Thanks for the info.
  17. I have an 06' Sherco 290 with stock springs. I know having an enduro bikes spring rate for your weight is very important but how important is it for a trials bike? I weigh 180lbs or about 80 kilos without gear. Should stock springs be good for me (a novice) or should I consider heavier springs? From other post it seams important to have front and rear compress at same rate and roughly about 1/3 rider sag. Is this correct? Thanks,
  18. Thanks for the replies. Sounds like good advice. Will start with diff fluid and lever adjustment to see how that goes. If i see no improvement I think I will pull clutch plates and examine plates and basket. The beta clutch mod sounds good but will probably be a last resort. Thanks
  19. New rider here. Just picked up an 06' sherco 290 and love it however it has one issue that needs work. The clutch seams to grab without smooth transition. Not bad but another 290 I rode was smoother. The clutch doesn't slip any it just is hard to be real smooth in tight slow turns. Should I start with new plates or does it sound like a new clutch basket is needed? Maybe a different trans oil? Lighter springs? Hoping someone familiar with this can offer some advice Thanks
