Ran a IRC last year on my air cooled mono but had to run 3psi to get it to grip good but other than that it went well and had no problems with it stoping on the rim till I slit the side wall then had to fit a tube to finish the season
For the tr280i I have just fitted a Dunlop for next year and had to take it to a bike shop to get it blown onto the rim after 2 hrs. of trying myself , the x11 I can fit in 5 mins so I hope I get no holes and it stays on the rim
Just picked up a 2012 bike and it needs a new back mudguard as the former owner has repaired the one that is fitted to the bike and I wondered if the 2013 rear mudguard fits the 2012 as it is made more flexible plastic and also do I have to get the 2013 graphics or will the 2012 fit
Ok, here's a few pictures of my effort.Steering tweeked, footrests moved, and some new shockies , bars and levers and some new cables, are the latest additions, plus frame repaint....only brushed so not blemish free, but much better than it was. Just got to do tank and seat paint when I get time. Hoping to get to the trial tommorow to see how she rides.
where did you cut the head stock top or bottom and how much did you move it as new parts have arrived for mine and thinking of doing the mods now instead of summer Aus time
I know someone who has an old baby monitor in his garage, personally iv got a wireless alarm system that arms downstairs and garage when I go to bed relatively cheap and easy to fit yourself
Thats what i used to use when i lived in the UK with the back up of a big Rotty dog, it works as scum tried to nick the bikes but noise alerted the dog and myself and never seen scum move so fast as they disappeared never to come back + chain the bikes down to the floor to give yourself time to get there
France Trial Classic do magical springs for the TY as they are the same as the KT250 front springs which i ordered last week and arrived in the post today in Oz so you get fast delivery as well
Roger has them in his TY175 fitted with 250 forks and says they are a big improvement over standard springs
3) keep in place to protect the tube from the spokes
4) No
wait till you put it back on
Tip use baby powder on the tube and a little bit of pressure in the tube when you insert it and careful as you lever the Tyre back on, small bites at a time
Same story as me, rode bikes for years and started on trials bikes before moving to fast events but after a few big crashes a couple of years ago which ended with a broken wrist in 3 places,5 broken ribs and collarbone decided to get back into trials,
Well told be the other half to sell the enduro bike
Bought a beta 250 and had no problems and also rode a 200 and found it was just as good and it can do anything the 250 could do on any line up to A grade so just get the bike in the best condition and price
Now swapped to twinshock and have just as much fun riding and working on the bikes so the beta has been sold
Just up the road, Easingwold ... small town about 10 miles from York. I love it, fantastic area. What made you move?
How long have you had the 250?
Hopefully that'll be what I want next, when funds let me.
Moved to Oz 7 years ago when the youngest was due to move from junior to senior school as it seemed the best time, had been due to move before that but put it off.
Loved living at Richmond and still miss it as you were not far from the lakes, coast,York ect but partners family are all in Oz so when i got sick of the job i had (conditions changed and i hated it) it was time to go down under.
Settled here now so happy with the move.
Got the 250 in March this year when it came up for sale, posted at 6 pm and lucky i was online and bought at 6.03 pm then a 1800 Km round trip to pick it up at the weekend
Always wanted a TLR 4 stroke as remember them when i was young and would have been happy with a 200 as they are as good but the 250 came up so had to have it
Its still a work in progress but that's part of the fun but with riding it in trials i have not had time to strip yet so its just bolt on parts at the moment but after riding the TLM260 need to get some rear shocks for my weight as the ones that came with the bike are way to hard so shocks and other parts are ordered so now have to wait for them to arrive
Its as they say,
boys and there toys
so keep the photos coming as you are doing a fantastic job with your rebuild
Got the bike not long before the start of the trials season over here and needed it to ride so its a work in progress and have added bits as i go and the footrest hangers are a stop gap (but a lot better than originals) till i come to strip the bike down and alter the frame for welded extensions and get it powder coated
Other bits already fitted after the photo are, gold chain guard,ty type gear lever, mikuni tm24 carb and new white front and rear guards ordered plus shockers and still thinking about headstock.
Got the TLM260 up and running now so when i get all the bits together for the TLR250 i might finish her off instead of waiting till the middle of October when the season finishes
Will do Mike, might take slightly longer as there going to get anodised straight away.
When did you get your Wes one? As according to the guy I spoke to on the phone, the earlier ones were far better - its just the latest ones where the quality seems to of slipped.
Got it from Sammy Millers about 4 months ago but they might have had it for sometime before that
You might want to think about chain adjustment when measuring
Never thought off that, told if you alter the front you need to lengthen the swing arm on the 250's or the front becomes to light so just wanted a idea as to how much the yokes altered the wheel base so if it was done with the rear wheel already fitted then you would get the difference between the standard yokes and the modded ones
Fitted footrest lowering kit to mine as a stop gap till i strip the bike down and with the wider pegs and lower it rides and handles a lot better
Yeah, I could of bought a nearly new trials bike for what this is costing me. But this once done shouldn't lose much, if any money. Which is my main reason. Plus I'v always loved the look of 80's Honda trial bikes.
Just paid for this.
you will have to let my know what you think of them as can not decide what do do myself, chop the frame or get a set to fit to mine but they are not cheap and it would be a lot less just to chop the frame as mine will get stripped down come the Ausie summer to be powder coated
Thats what happens, buy a old bike and it just snowballs from there once you start its a job to stop and there's always something else you think you could do.
Look forward to seeing the finished bike as it will look stunning
