    Best Foot Pegs

I fit the Apico ones with the grub screws to our Betas. They don't have an adjustable angle, but they fit pretty much every modern trials bike.

    Best Foot Pegs

Are you sure your Apico footpegs don't fit? I've seen them on many Shercos.
  3. If it's a Dellorto carb, have you checked that you haven't put the floats in upside down?
  4. The quickest and easiest way is to remove the carb, then unscrew the fuel tap from the tank. The tap has a long filter which goes inside the tank, pull the tap from the tank while gently bending the filter to clear the inlet manifold. Replacement is reverse of removal, but start with the fuel tap nut just started on the first thread on the tap. It has a left and right hand thread, so it pulls the tap on to the tank threads as you tighten it. This method can be done in around 10 minutes.

    Clutch issue.

Take the kickstart screw out a few threads, and pivot the lever to push against the screw. It should slide out and off the spline.

    Clutch issue.

There is a small screw in the centre of the clitch basket which goes into the gear shaft. It works loose, and falls out, sometimes hitting the slave cylinder piston which causes your clutch lever to go solid half way in. It's an easy fix, just screw it back in, using Loctite. There is a breather hole through the serew so be careful not to over tighten it. I've heard that you can also take it out completely, and the clutch will be fine.
  7. You'll be hard pushed to find a modern trials helmet with a BSI sticker on it. The helmet manufacturers now use the ECE 22.05 standard which is accepted by around 50 countries worldwide. The ECE 22.05 label is normally stitched on to the helmet chinstrap. As most of the current trials helmets are ECE 22.05 certificated, they are legal to use on the road in the UK.

    Water In Air Box ?

Have a look at the Beta UK guide for setting an Evo up for the SSDT, it's all explained here. Works a treat! Beta 2015 EVO SSDT prep.pdf
  9. It's just a case of detaching the two wires from your existing engine kill switch from where they join the wiring loom, and connecting the two wires from the lanyard to the same two wires on the loom. It doesn't matter which way round they go, as the lanyard simply closes a circuit, shorting the live feed from the coil to earth. You can use crimp connectors or solder to join the wires.
  10. Hi, I've recently used Andy Dawson, who is an Ohlins GP technician, and does all the shock rebuilds for Beta UK. Fantastic service, about 3 day turnaround, costs approx £80 including carriage. 07973 628270.
  11. Hi, the best place for up to date info on the Academy is the facebook page. You don't have to have a facebook account to view the posts. https://www.facebook.com/BobMacGregorTrialsAcademy/ The website hasn't been updated for a while. The venue is open every Saturday, when there's a cafe with great home made food. It costs £10 per day per rider for non members. You can ride on most Sundays too, but it's best to phone Iain Shankie on 07831 681728 or Jim Kerr on 07968 499993 first to make sure it's open. It's always possible to open during the week too if that suits you. It's not expensive to join as a member, and you then get a key so you can ride on any day. It's a fantastic facility, with friendly, helpful members. Hope to see you there....
  12. Faulty water pump, check impeller, water pump bearings and plastic gear on shaft, or blown head gasket. Also, check left casing as the Rev 3s were prone to corrosion.
  13. Hi Old, sorry, I forgot to mention that I used a new seeger ring when I installed the impeller. The original one had deformed slightly when I removed it. There was a 1mm difference in the ring gap between the old and new seeger. The new one fits tight on the pump shaft. I also used longer allen screws to hold the outer casing. The Jitsie kit should really include longer screws (and instructions!).
  14. Hi, I fitted a Jitsie water pump kit to a 2015 Evo last week and had exactly the same issues. I used the shim washer which was fitted behind the original plastic impeller. The bike made a whirring sound for the first few minutes. The engine was run for a few hours, and I then removed the water pump cover. The tips of the Jitsie impeller were slightly polished, and there were mild rubbing marks on the outer water pump cover. I cleaned the impeller, and the housing and re-assembled it using fresh coolant. I also noticed that the drain screw threads protruded into water pump cover, so I shortened it and it now fits flush with the inner surface of the cover. There shouldn't be any corrosion problems using coolant with alloy casings.
  15. Hi Jordan, you've got a fantastic trials practice venue just south of Barrhead, Glasgow, the Bob MacGregor Trials Academy. It's open every weekend, you'll find it on facebook
  16. Best to try the UK importer, www.Beta-UK.com
  17. Hi Stephen, I would suggest that you take your bike along to the Bob MacGregor Trials Academy on any Saturday, have a chat with the other riders and get some time on your bike. The people at the Academy are a great bunch, and you'll be made very welcome. You're best to contact the Academy via their facebook, as the website isn't up to date.

    New Chain

About 20mm (or a finger) from the top of the chain tensioner slipper pad to the underside of the swinging arm.

    New Chain

The chain should be 100 links. Most trials chains are 102 links or more, so you'll probably need to remove links. The original Beta snail cams and the Apico ones will offer enough adjustment with 100 links, but the Jitsie ones don't allow the spindle to move forward enough for 100 links if you're using a rear sprocket over 42 teeth..
  20. Looks like early 1990s Beta Zero or Synt to me.
  21. Your bike will sound quite loud and raspy at the moment because the silencer internals are clogged and not absorbing the exhaust pulses. When you've cleaned the whole system out and re-packed the tail pipe, it'll sound much quieter.
  22. Do exactly as richfr suggests, I've done it many times on a 125 Evo. I also use the blowtorch on the front pipe, as there's a large chamber which gets clogged up. Usually burns for ages. The front pipe will turn a light golden colour, but you can use steel wool to bring it back to silver. You'll notice a huge difference in the noise and power output

    Kickstart Question

Beta part number 1154521 (costs less than £1), or use an M8 x 16 flanged bolt, not a countersunk one! Buy a spare and use threadlock on the new bolt....
  24. Hi Marc, you've got one of the best clubs in Scotland on your doorstep: www.PerthAndDiistrictMC.co.uk I believe they're planning to run training sessions for new riders too.
  25. Check that you haven't put the carb floats in upside down! It's easily done.
